intro post!! please read!
hi everyone, i’m d and i’m a survivor of therapy abuse (among other things.) i experienced harm and abuse by multiple therapists and treatment centers as well as in the TTI. i may share more about my story in future posts but i want to remain as anonymous as possible.
i created this blog because i am sick of staying silent, even though i’m still too afraid to report the things i went through, and i’m sure i’m not the only one who feels this way. i am sick of feeling powerless, and want to use this space to empower survivors and build community. therapy abuse is so much more common than people think, and i wish the topic was more mainstream.
i wanted to create a space where survivors could anonymously send asks where they can share their stories, vent, ask questions, anything you need! you deserve to have your voice heard, even if it’s just in this tiny corner of the internet.
some guidelines/boundaries:
if you were the PERPETRATOR of therapy abuse, this space is not for you. do not send an ask, you will be blocked.
if you are a therapist who is also a survivor of therapy abuse and want to share your story, that is totally fine.
please avoid using language that stigmatizes any mental health conditions— for example, there’s a podcast called “Psycho-therapy” and they talk about “the psycho in the therapist’s chair” and as much as the podcast can be helpful, i still believe this kind of stigmatizing language is unacceptable, especially given that people who experience psychosis often experience traumatic dehumanization and harm at the hands of the mental health field.
this includes making blanket statements about personality disorders— you can say that you suspect that your therapist had a personality disorder and lacked self awareness around it leading to the abuse, but please don’t say that they abused you purely because of their “narcissistic” or “borderline” personality. throwing an entire group of people under the bus to make your point is only adding to the stigma that people with those diagnoses already face.
no slurs, no terfs, no racism, fatphobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia or any other kind of hatred!
i don’t know if anyone will even see this but i hope that the people who need a space like this will find it <3
