The Q Collective is seeking submissions for its upcoming original short play festival THE COMING OUT PLAY FESTIVAL.

Submission and Selection Period:

Plays for THE COMING OUT PLAY FESTIVAL may be submitted via Google form only from March 15 through May 31, 2020, with festival play selection completed by August 1, 2020. Playwrights selected will be notified by August 1.

The Q Collective is seeking directors for its upcoming Coming Out Play Festival in October. Directors will be responsible for selecting plays from submissions in addition to casting and directing two of the submissions chosen. This a great opportunity for new and up-and-coming directors. A stipend of $75 is available. Auditions: Sept. 14 7-9pm Sept. 21 if necessary Rehearsal schedule: Oct. 8-9 7-10pm Oct. 10-11 12-10pm (final detailed schedule TBD) Oct. 12-14 6:30-10pm Performances: Oct. 15-17 and 22-24 7:30pm Oct. 17-18 and 24-25 4pm Directors are expected to attend all rehearsals. Introducing the faces of Transluminate! TRANSCODICIL by Peter Dakutis (bottom middle) directed by Sean Michael (bottom right) Joe (Julian Rodriguez - top left), a transgender man, and Shawna (Naé Lowery - top middle), a transgender woman, are married, and Joe is carrying their child. Joe’s Aunt Tammy has recently died, and Joe was expected to be her sole heir. Tammy’s executor, Virginia (Kasey Kopp - top right), tells Joe and Shawna about a codicil Tammy added to her will, which may prevent Joe from inheriting the estate. It turns out that Joe’s transphobic mother, Loretta (Helen Pancella - bottom left), and her church pressured Tammy into creating the codicil.
