So it's confirmed that the season is truly over and tbh I think it makes perfect sense. Like, I realize that the season has been pretty short but I think in order for them to get the most out of 1.18 they had to start over. Just being able to fly everywhere as they all can really dwarves the new generation and I think kills some of the newness. Having to experience it from scratch with nothing will be a treat. Not to mention seeing how and if they keep the storyline going is gonna be fun too

So my theory about the weird happenings on the hermitcraft server is that it's all a build up for 1.18. The new update should be coming in a couple of weeks and the landscape is gonna be drastically altered forever.

The big moon, the earthquakes, the rumblings are all going to explain the new generation. The land is changing, gigantic mountains and gaping caves are about to tear the land apart

So I still think that big moon might be an explanation for the new generation but I wonder if they're going to end the season.. The pacing of season 8 has been real fast and it seems like everyone is finishing their builds up. I wonder if they'll use the moon finally crashing into the world to end this season and just start over in 1.18. Especially seeing as a few people have made their own mountains this season, or in False's case their own cave 🤔

What We Know About the Moon So Far

(The Hermitcraft moon, to be clear. XD Some of these are absolutely confirmed, some of them are theorized by the fandom, some of them have been hinted at by CCs. Most are probably up for potential change/adjustment.)

1. Moon big. Absolutely confirmed. No questions.

2. Moon getting bigger. Not at a steady rate, according to Joe's aperture science streams. But regularly bigger.

3. Moon has ceased cycling. It's always full. Which is also concerning.

4. Moon potentially causing gravitational fluctuation. Several hermits report brief jump boost effect moments. Seemingly random, though every instance I've personally seen have been after moonrise.

5. Moon interfering with Evil Xisuma's powers. His last attempt to hurt Xisuma with the red lightning fizzled out under the very bright light of the very Big Moon. (Possibly EX's downfall comes with 1.18? Which leads to--)

6. Moon almost definitely connected to upcoming Caves and Cliffs update. No one has explicitly confirmed this, but it's been hinted at enough, and the timing fits. So maybe expect something big on the 30th?

7. Moon causing earthquakes. They're fairly regular, about every ~20 minutes. Also likely connected to 1.18. There's some evidence that the moon grows larger/closer with each earthquake, but that hasn't been specifically documented.

8. Moon possibly an impending disaster. Cleo has suggested burrowing down and becoming mole people. Impulse floated the idea of a bunker. Batten down the hatches?

ok so i looked into Big Moon and heres what i found

doc ep #17 (posted october 10th) the moon isnt full, whatever caused moon big hasnt started yet.

doc ep #18 (posted october 15th) [hard to find a good screenshot, he sleeps the night away a lot] moons still a normal size and not full.

doc ep #19 (posted october 23rd) the moon is full, could be the starting point of big moon.

doc ep #20 (posted october 29th) the moon is noticeably larger.

doc ep #21 (posted november 6th) moons big. 

doc ep #22 (posted november 12th) its big.

tentative conclusion: the moon was growing for nearly 3 weeks before anyone noticed

So I've gotten back into minecraft lately and I decided to AFK at my automatic farms to see if they work. Thing is I use my monitors for work and plug them into my work laptop but I forgot to turn the volume down so now occasionally I just hear random mob noises while working and I can't just tab over to minecraft. So I guess I'll just put up with this.
