When he was given the permission to enter, Regulus opened the door and stepped inside his brother’s room. The guilt seemed to s w a l l o w him further seeing Sirius curled up in his bed. He had never seen Sirius truly upset about anything. In fact, he’d realized only now that even after being tortured, Sirius still came into his room and acted as if he were ok. If it weren’t for his shaking hands, Regulus wouldn’t have even suspected anything was wrong. Yet, it were Regulus’s bare words that made his brother cry in front of him. This made Regulus wary about speaking, a f r a i d to apologize with the possibility that he wouldn’t be forgiven at all. But he had to -he wanted to- after saying those awful things. He walked further into the room and sat at the end of his brother’s bed.
❝ Come on, Sirius, you know I didn’t mean it. I was just mad. It’s not what I actually think, you know... ❞ he let out a soft sigh as he fiddled with his fingers, barely being able to look in Sirius’s direction as he continued, ❝ We’re brothers. Sometimes we say stupid things we don’t mean and... I am sorry. ❞
Regulus then silenced himself as he waited for Sirius to reply. Part of him was waiting for Sirius to just tell him to leave, and he was prepared to. He would understand if Sirius needed time before actually forgiving the younger brother. So, while Regulus sat there, he waited for the worst.

Usually after a fight with his parents, Sirius would retreat to his room and lock himself in for the next day or so. It was better that way; he could hide any injuries from Regulus, and it gave their parents some one to cool down and forget about it. At least, until the next argument.
This time was different. Sirius was used to the insults and the abuse, and he certainly said some cruel things back. He was used to the physical punishments too; he’d come to expect them at this point. But it’d never been this bad, they’d never used an unforgivable curse on him before. It’d been quick, only a few seconds, but it was agony. Afterwards he was quick to apologize, terrified that it would be used on him again.
And then he went upstairs. Instead of going to his room, he made his way into his brother’s bedroom. Sirius didn’t really know why, only that he didn’t want to be alone. Maybe if it had been any other night, if there weren’t still jolts of pain shooting down his spine, Sirius would have laughed at the joke. But he was relieved, in a way. Regulus clearly didn’t know what had happened. It was that he didn’t know, Sirius decided.
Sirius walked over to the bed and sat down next to his brother. “They’re crazy, is what they are. What’re you reading?” He reached out to grab the book out of his brother’s hands, but hesitated when he realized his own hands were still shaking.

❝ Oh yeah? Well- well- ❞ Regulus fumbled with his words as Sirius moved passed him, unable to form a proper sentence from being so mad. Regulus clutched the book in his grip and threw it just as his brother had left, hitting the side of the door frame. The book fell to the ground with a loud thud and Regulus dropped down onto his bed like a child throwing a fit. He was angry. Angry at the insults, angry at Sirius wanting to leave, just angry.
Yet, the more he sat there being angry, the more he realized that he was probably in the wrong. And the look on his brothers face, the tears on his face as he left- Sure he wanted to hurt Sirius back but he didn’t mean to be that hurtful. He tried to push away the g u i l t because it was easier to be mad than acknowledge that he hurt his brother but he couldn’t help but feel terrible.
Regulus rolled out of bed and slowly walked to his brother’s room. He raised a fist, going to knock on the door but decided against it and turned away. But the image of Sirius being upset wouldn’t leave his memory. He squeezed his eyes closed and swallowed his pride before finally turning around and knocking on the door. ❝ Sirius... ❞ he said through door, his voice small. ❝ I- I’m-” He sighed before saying, ❝ Can I... come in? ❞

Taken aback by his brother’s words, Regulus was left dumbfounded. He didn’t know what to say because the confession and the insult were both surprising and i n c r e d i b l y unexpected. He blinked, a blank look on his face for a split second before the words finally settled. He didn’t handle confrontation well because he was always too sensitive and took things too personal. Seeing how fast Sirius got angry made him angry. However, he finally took into account the cruelty his brother endured. Regulus quickly stood from his bed and snatched his book off of the nightstand.
❝ Just stop! ❞ he shouted, ignoring the quick apology that Sirius gave, ❝ Stop associating yourself with the wrong sort! You bring this on yourself, Sirius! Don’t you see that? Enough already! ❞ He said this out of worry for his brothers life but also because he was now upset. Regulus turned to leave to read his book elsewhere but he suddenly had more to say and turned back around.
❝ And I’m the naive little idiot yet you choose to be the black sheep of the family and complain about your failures as if they’re the fault of our parents. You choose to be this way, to gain what? A pat on the back from mudbloods and blood traitors? They are not your family ! ❞ Perhaps he had good intention with what he was saying or maybe he simply wanted to offend Sirius back. Either way, in the moment, he meant it.

I am… not a chronologically locked rp blog.
That means that if you talk to me to establish that we want to ship our muses, or have a particular relationship or type of report between them, I am 1: totally okay with multiple threads of varying length and styles with you and 2: will probably jump around in the supposed ‘timeline’ of our muses relationships in order to keep things interesting/ make ask prompts work.
For example, we may be writing an intro thread with our muses, but if you wanna send me a thing for like… a first kiss that may happen months down the line (and shipping is what ur up for) go ahead and do it! The way I see it, separate points on a timeline are FUN to RP because then you can look back later and figure out how they connected/ try to work in little details that make them flow together.

He was more taken aback that Sirius planned on leaving than anything else. ❝ Because our parents believe blood status matters, you want to leave? ❞ Regulus hadn’t taken into consideration about the abuse Sirius was being given and made it sound as though their family was solely just misunderstanding each other. Of course, he knew the ugly words his family spat at each other but from what he’d just heard it sounded as though that were it. It angered him in a way that Sirius was deciding to leave, though he did his best to hide it.
❝ Where would even you go? ❞ Regulus asked.

“You’ll always have me.” ( from Andromeda).
Regulus turned to his cousin and offered her a weak smile in return for her kind words. ❝ Thank you, Andy. ❞ he said politely. He’d felt very alone since Sirius had left and it was nice to hear that he had someone to rely on. Andromeda, in a way, reminded him of his brother, and that too was oddly comforting.

Regulus opened his mouth to speak but soon closed it again. He knew what he wanted to ask but he didn’t know the proper words to use. It was clear that Sirius had gone through enough and Regulus didn’t want to say something to make his brother feel as though he too was against him. So, he hesitated but eventually formed the words that, at first, fit his curiosity best. ❝ Why is it that you choose this path? It would be easier if you just- ❞ He cut himself off, knowing how it may have sounded despite trying so hard not to make it seem like it was an attack. He was just tired of the fighting and feeling as though he had to choose a side. He was tired of hearing Sirius being beaten down. It was a selfish reason to ask the question.
❝ Are we that bad that you wish to be so different, Sirius? ❞ He simply didn’t understand. It had felt to Regulus as though Sirius was using all his power to distance himself from their family. Being young, naïve, and quite gullible to their parent’s pureblood ideals, Regulus seen nothing wrong with their family. Perhaps they put too much pressure on their children, but was it worth fighting against? Regulus wasn’t sure. But he did not see the world as Sirius did. He wasn’t as outspoken, even if he did believe their parents standards were a bit unfair.

Before Regulus could speak, Endria informed him that the sorting would begin. He turned his attention to the head of the hall then and eagerly watched, though his eagerness was a bit more hidden than hers. Though, watching her reactions was the most entertaining factor to the actual sorting of students in Regulus’s opinion.
When most of the children had been sorted into Gryffindor, a scowl landed on his brow as he looked over at the table of Gryffindor’s cheering. ❝ It seems so. ❞ He agreed. He couldn’t contain himself from rolling his eyes and looking away. There was no animosity towards strictly Gryffindor -other than his brother was one- but, again, he believed Slytherin was the best house that had the p u r e s t blood. ❝ It isn’t over, ❞ he told his friend, ❝ There are hundreds of other students. ❞
She took her place at the Slytherin table, making sure not to catch her green and black robe on anything as she greeted those she hadn’t seen since the year prior. It was a long summer for Endria -mostly spending it trying to “play down” her magic for her judgmental muggle brothers- and she was more than glad to be back at Hogwarts once more for her fifth year, where she felt normal again.
Other Slytherin’s around her were greeting her back and speaking to her about their brilliant summers but she didn’t pay much attention and mainly focused on the entrance of the Great Hall, glancing at it every few seconds as she waited for Regulus to walk through the doors. Regulus was Endria’s best and, really, only friend. Of course she had acquaintances but she wasn’t as close with anyone as she was with Regulus Black.
After a few minutes, Endria finally seen her black haired friend making his way over to their table. She quickly got up and rushed over to him, throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him into a hug that was probably way too tight. “Thank god,” she said in a breath of relief, “I was beginning to think you’d abandoned me.” She chuckled at her own playful statement as she finally released Regulus from her grip. “How was your summer? And you have to tell me everything since you didn’t write.”

Regulus looked down and fiddled with a loose string from the blanket underneath them as he listened to Sirius speak. He didn't know what to say to make the situation better; being inexperienced in Sirius’s situation. A huge part of him felt helpless. What could he do? Even if he did something as small as standing up for his brother, it wouldn’t make anything better. Then their family would just have two children to hate... right? But even the thought of rebelling made Regulus uneasy. Yet, so did knowing that he was constantly praised while Sirius was treated less than even a house elf. Regulus began to feel guilty. What a c o w a r d, he thought of himself.
After a few seconds of silence from the younger boy, he finally spoke. His voice was low, as if he didn’t want anyone to hear. ❝ People always say things they don’t mean, ❞ he told Sirius, ❝ You belong here, in this family, just as much as anyone. ❞ Regulus was sure of his words despite the things he’d witnessed. He believed that Sirius was a Black, whether anyone liked it or not. Perhaps not a Black in ideology but a Black in the pure b l o o d that ran through his veins. And did that not count for something? He then, out of curiosity, looked at Sirius. ❝ Is it alright if I ask you something? ❞
