We had a red grasshopper in the yard today. Less than 1% chance of finding one in a lifetime, or so I’ve read… Rare cancer ✅ Rare amputation ✅ Rare grasshopper ✅ What rare thing will I find/have next?! 🤣 #redgrasshopper #rarefind #gardenfind #canijustwinthelotteryplease #erythrism — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/U8YTdN9

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day. A day that nobody wants to celebrate but also a day that everyone wants to celebrate. Odds are, someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer. And if not, it’s sadly only a matter of time. Here’s the thing about surviving… Cancer never goes away. Even in remission or no evidence of disease, it lives in the back of your mind. Every twinge of pain. Every funny feeling. Every thing. Surviving cancer means finding your new normal. Often times, you lose people you thought were friends and/or gain new ones or closer ones. Maybe it’s finding a new job. Learning to live with the changes your body has experienced. Dealing with the anxiety. Whatever it is, life is different. From the moment you’re diagnosed, you’re a survivor. #nationalcancersurvivorsday #cancersurvivor #cancer #fcancer #pseudomyogenichemangioendothelioma — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/TuWOrEF

First 9 holes are officially in the books with the new @golfsub70 clubs (and second round period post amputation) and I couldn’t be happier! I do need to work on my driver and woods to get some air on them but the strength of my game stays the same… my short game. Anything from 50 yards and in I’ve always been solid and that thankfully hasn’t changed. With a new mentality that isn’t the “Grip it and rip it” mindset, even mediocre drives will set me up for a par chance at least every hole. I hit some bad shots and lost a new @logicalonegolf Trust ball but with having played 9 holes of golf one leg prior to today, I fully expected worse. I’m beyond grateful for the @cafoundation grant as without it, I wouldn’t have the new clubs, and without those I know I wouldn’t have had the round I did. #adaptivegolf #cafathlete #teamcaf #amputee #amputeegolf #hemipelvectomy #homeawayfromhome #golf — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/NJg63hr

Happy Mother’s Day to my better half @lkwalker08! Watching you with the kids brings me more joy than I ever could have imagined!! On top of the two kiddos, she has to put up with me as her third “child” most of the time so she certainly deserves all the praise! #HappyMothersDay #ImLucky #NeverGonnaGrowUp — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/Lhk5YdF

The results are in and it’s another year down CANCER FREE! This scan marks 5 years since I was diagnosed and 4 years (4.25 years to be exact but who’s counting… 😉) cancer free. #cancerfree #ned #pseudomyogenichemangioendothelioma #cancer #cancersurvivor — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/qo5fmQL

It’s scan day today! One of the biggest things I told myself through my diagnosis and chemo was that I had to survive. “I had to walk Adelynn down the aisle” was what I focused on. I also told myself 5 years was the first milestone to get to. That’s the holy grail of cancer stats after all! On the 25th of this month I will hit that mark so this scan is a big one for me mentally. Surprisingly, it hasn’t been weeks worth of worry and dread and crappy attitudes so score one for therapy and learning healthy coping techniques! So today I get to have my scans and sometime today/tomorrow they’ll release the results into my chart and I get to see them. #cancer #cancersurvivor #scanxiety #5years #pseudomyogenichemangioendothelioma — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/LNAei5b

I got some pretty devastating news on Monday that someone who means a whole lot to me passed away entirely unexpectedly. She was someone that showed up for EVERYONE and gave me more than few pep talks when things got tough. I honestly think she cried as much if not more than I did at times about my cancer and my chemo but she made sure I always remembered what I had to fight for. She was always one of my biggest cheerleaders and was far more than just a coworker. The world is a little less bright with her not her. I’ll see you on the other side Kim. Check in with your loved ones and never miss a chance to let them know what they mean to your friends. You truly never know when it might be your last chance to do so. — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/JzoC0sa

We’ve waiting on getting ears pierced until she asked us to have that done. The other night, she asked me if she could get them pierced this weekend so we agreed! I’m so proud of her and how she did. We talked about how it would hurt and that once one was done, she couldn’t back out and not get the other one done. She definitely shed some teams but she’s loving having them done. #firstpiercing #soproud #shedidsogreat — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/s2ZzSLp

I’ve probably written this post a half dozen times today before deleting it. Today marks 2 milestones in my life. 4 years cancer FREE and 4 years of life on 1 leg. In the past, I’ve always said that I’d go back in time and do it differently if there was something I could do to save my leg. This might honestly be the first post and first time I’m saying that I WOULDN’T go back. Is life difficult at times because of being an amputee and cancer survivor… yes. But life is going to be difficult for everyone at points in life. There’s no getting around that! What I do have from all of this I truly believe far outweighs everything else I dreamed of before my diagnosis and amputation. The connections and friendships I’ve made are priceless. The ability to think outside the box and get creative has only been made stronger. I have a much greater appreciation for life and what actually matters. I get to share my story to help others. I even have a chance to be world ranked golfer (albeit a slim chance but still a chance)! Life sucks at times. It’s impossible to see the good in some of those situations. Even years later it can be tough to see. Embrace the suck. Use it. Find the value and lessons in the suck. I promise they are there, even when you can’t see them. #ampuversary #hemipelvectomy #cancerfree #cancersucks #embracethesuck #cancersurvivor #amputee #leftlegless — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/HLq8YDf

2 years ago we got the best Valentine’s gift with Oliver! He’s quickly becoming my gaming buddy despite the terrible 2’s being in full swing!! If you’d have told me before that I’d forget most of the time that we used a donor, I’d have told you you’re crazy. My biggest fear was that I’d look at him differently even though I never would want to. Well… 2 years later I can say with confidence that it almost never crosses my mind. While we won’t have a “traditional” Valentine’s Day for a while, I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the love Laramie and I have! #HappyBirthday #terribletwos #valentinesday #gamingbuddy #donorconcieved #donorsperm #iui #infertility — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/BZbSKdp

I can honestly say that I’m alive because I’m in the fortunate side of these statistics. I had amazing health insurance. I had an employer that cared about me and stuck with me during the 416 days I was unable to work. I had (still do) an incredible support system. I had a doctor that was able to say “This is more than we can do here. We’re getting you into a better hospital.” And I had what I feel like was world class doctors and nurses at the hospital I went to. Most aren’t that lucky. Most wouldn’t have had the opportunities I did. I’m eternally grateful that I get to still experience everything life has to offer. But everyone should have that chance. Our health care system is not balanced. It’s not fair. It’s not equal. It needs change. A 2 year old shouldn’t have to grow up without their daddy just because they’re on the “wrong side of the tracks” so to say. #worldcancerday #healthcarereform #cancer #cancersucks #oneoftheluckyones #fcancer #survivor — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/sZ0Kxg6

Ok everyone!! This is legit. I thought it was spam when Laramie read it but NOPE! Just did it. (Amazon is currently also being sued for using tips to pay a lower wage by the DC AG ironically.) BUT! Every time you have something delivered by Amazon, go to the app, hit the Alexa button, and say “Alexa thank my driver.” #amazon #thankmydriver #itslegit #noreallyitis — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/L6XdFZS

Looking for somewhere to give for #givingtuesday ? Consider @thekirstieennisfoundation this year! (Well and every year 😁) Most of you know how much @kirstie_ennis and the entire TKEF family means to me and how much of a difference the foundation and people make. Check out my stories for a link directly to the donation page.
