That last bit is the understatement of the year and it made me chuckle a bit... Senkhara threatened to kill the Chosen One and her friends if she didn't help her find the Mask of Anubis. Not even a few days after their first encounter, she curses her and eventually her said friends until they find the mask. She could care less about their other responsibilities. Homework, detention, strict curfews, and any semblance of a high school social life can take the back seat to Senkhara's demand to find the mask.
Her whole "Watch the timepiece" bit was never explained by her, and right as she's about to figure out what it means, Senkhara mocks her for visiting her sick Grandmother (aka the timepiece). Nina was clearly stressed by it all, and instead of doing anything about the adults in her life causing unneeded stress, she causes Nina to hex her friends in the most backhanded way. And said hexes only serve to hinder the likelihood of finishing the task.
It takes an absurdly long amount of time for her to do anything about Victor and Vera. She literally spends the whole season doing everything in her power to hinder Sibuna in the mission to find the mask that she desperately wants. And when she finally gets close to godhood only for Eddie to exorcise her from Nina, she's still so blinded by her desire for that godhood she first possesses Rufus... after his one-way ticket to hell portal opens up below him. Senkhara only really was defeated because of her incompetence and Rufus's greed.
vera & rfs are the only villains that used strategy tbh everyone else was just winging it

#self reblog in honor of my birthday
Happy birthday, Tess! I hope you're having a good day!!
Mr. Millington: And so, despite the endless disappointment you’ve caused me, I pray that this will finally be the year you achieve something of actual significance. I’d love to stop lying to my friends about you being in a coma. Anyway, the point is, happy birthday, Amber.
Amber, delighted: You remembered my birthday!

Victor lost contact with his Chosen One, much like Fabian.

Rufus doesn't see Nina like Victor does.
Rufus does not fear Nina Martin.
Perhaps he should.
Or perhaps it is the guilt that Victor refuses to acknowledge. Perhaps it is the way Nina Martin feels like a tangible echo of Sarah Frobisher-Smythe, like Sarah is back to taunt him, haunt him, even though he knows, deep down, Sarah wouldn't. (She forgave him.)
In the corner of his eyes, he sees the yellow light of the Sun illuminate Nina, like Ra himself knows she is chosen, and it startles him for a moment, but only just, for the poetic portrait is broke by Fabian Rutter and Amber Millington, and Victor has better things to do (but she'll always be there, won't she? One step ahead or never far behind. And if you heard his thoughts and asked her if the 'she' in question was Sarah or Nina, he couldn't answer.).

Yeah, I always headcanoned that the Frobisher-Smythes added "END" to that piece of the cup. It's not that far-fetched considering another part(s?) of the cup had clues to find the other pieces in English as well. Anubis may be an Egyptian god who knew which chosen one would put the cup back together, but I doubt he'd aid and abet the man who stole from graves so much he cursed him to sleep for eternity.
i spend so much time trying to come up with watsonian reasons and lore for why house of anubis mythology is the way that it is. and then they just add a button on an ancient cup that says "END" in fucking english

As one of the 25 people who voted for the second option, allow me to elaborate. I believe Sarah knew where the pieces of the cup of Ankh were, but she wasn't telling anyone where to find them because she knew how dangerous it was. Sarah knew the dangers of living forever as well as the need for a sacrifice. She believed it was necessary to make sure that the cup didn't fall into the wrong hands once it was built.
While the show mentioned that Sarah, Victor, and Rufus were friends and all founded the school together, Sarah felt she was betrayed by them because "they wanted a secret". Sarah felt used, like Rufus and Victor only saw value in her knowledge and info on the Frobisher-Smithes and the power they could get from her. At that point, she essentially shut down and wouldn't give anyone information. It was a matter of trust, or rather, the lack thereof.
The only reason she partially opened up to Nina was to pass the torch, so to speak, and because she could tell she was pure of heart. Call it chosen one's intuition. But she was purposefully vague, not necessarily because she was confused or ignorant of the facts, but rather because she didn't know who was listening and what side they were on. And in the end, before her death, she finally understood Victor. While she knew Rufus had a huge ego and would stop at nothing until he got his way, it took until the end of her life to realize that Victor was motivated by the pain of losing his father, who always thought he was worthless. She knew, in the end, he wasn't evil like Rufus, and she forgave him.

Since you added Nina, who isn't in season 3 at all, hear out my strange take: Mick Campbell. Sibuna would have no reason to think Mick is involved with Team Evil, so...

Not exactly House of Anubis-related. More so House of Anubis-adjacent lost media (Victoria Duffield is the sister of Burkely Duffield, who plays Eddie on the show). I've had the audio for these songs for a while now, but seeing as this could easily become lost media, I figured I would share the songs here.
What are these songs?
To understand the origins of these rare Victoria Duffield songs, we need to understand a bit about music in Japan. For whatever reason, the cost to make a CD locally in Japan is actually more expensive than it is to make a CD elsewhere and import it into Japan. That's why many artists (not just Victoria Duffield) have Japan-exclusive bonus tracks. The idea is to incentivize locals to buy Japanese CDs instead of importing an internationally-made CD.
Victoria Duffield had two albums previously released through Warner Music Canada: Shut Up and Dance and Accelerate. Shut Up and Dance's only Japanese exclusive tracks were her cover of Last Christmas, the french versions of Shut Up and Dance and Break My Heart, and remixes of Shut Up and Dance and Feel, all of which are easily available on YouTube and/or streaming services.
Accelerate, however, is a different story. 2 Become 1 has an exclusive version with JPOP singer CIMBA. Additionally, there are bonus tracks in the form of Say It Like You Mean It, You're Gonna Be Mine, and We Takin' Over. Of those four songs, only the last one is readily available on streaming services as a single. The other three have the potential to get lost to time (more on this later).
How did I get these songs?
I never purchased Accelerate on CD from Japan, which currently is only available on the used market as no new pressings are being made. As a result, I imagine they are hard to come by. But right now, that's the only way to (legally) acquire these songs. I never did purchase the exclusive CIMBA version of 2 Become 1, either. However, I did purchase Say It Like You Mean It and You're Gonna Be Mine on iTunes. I did this by creating a new Apple ID with a Japanese address and buying a Japanese iTunes gift card to make the purchase. However, this is no longer possible to do for these songs. While you may be able to get other artists' Japanese bonus tracks this way, you can't do it with Victoria Duffield's songs anymore. I explain why below.
How did this become lost media?
Long story short, there was a brief moment in 2019 when Shut Up and Dance and Accelerate were no longer on Spotify or other streaming services. This was because Victoria Duffield managed to buy back the rights to her masters she put out on Warner Music Canada. She then re-released them herself through DistroKid (the distributor she used to self-release Day Won earlier that year). When this happened, the Japanese version of Accelerate (with all her other releases through WMG) was pulled from digital music storefronts and services. While all of her other music was merely unavailable temporarily during this switch, these bonus tracks remain unavailable to buy online in any capacity (outside of used CDs from Japan). As a result, these songs have the potential to become lost media, but not anymore!
Why am I posting it now?
In theory, the only person who can authorize an official release of these songs are Victoria and her team. Victoria Duffield should own the rights to these Japanese bonus tracks. I would love to maybe see an EP released one day, with these bonus tracks as well as other unreleased songs she performed live in the past, like Alone Tonight and Because We're Young. But I doubt that will ever happen.
Until then, I wanted to preserve these songs and make them available for the first time broadly. Unfortunately, I had to re-encode the files from AAC to MP3 so I could post it to Tumblr. The audiophile in me doesn't like this, but there's no other way to do so. But hey: At least you can enjoy these songs in some capacity. I see no good reason to hoard these audio files to myself outside of copyright reasons. With that said, if anyone from Victoria or her team messages me and asks that these be taken down, I will comply. I'll also delete it the moment Victoria Duffield releases these bonus tracks online herself. I'm merely doing this to preserve these songs for her fans that could easily become lost media otherwise.
How can I download this song?

To play devil's advocate, though (re: Not a thing in British schools), they did a whole movie about a high school graduation, which again, AFAIK, is not a thing in British schools at the secondary (high school) level.
I know we had a whole school newspaper plot in all the anubis versions, but what was really missed was the school news channel, you know like the ones they film and broadcast on the school’s televisions. The shenanigans would have been insane

I had this idea as soon as I learned back in 2012 that Nathalia Ramos wouldn't be returning for Season 3 (if it happened, as I don't think it was officially renewed yet), and it draws inspiration from Het Huis Anubis. But chances are it would have significantly altered the plot of season 3 if they went this route.
Imagine Nina returns the Cup of Ankh in Egypt, only to catch a curse of her own. This curse causes her appearance to change, not unlike what happened to Appie (Alfie) in season 3 of HHA. Who knows? Maybe Alexandra Shipp would have been the recast Nina (though I would probably assume they'd go with a different actress). This would have allowed Nina's story to continue without relying on Nathalia Ramos being there.
The only reason why this might not have worked is because it would have required Nathalia to return to film for one episode, which I'm not sure she would have been willing to do. So I can see why they decided not to go this route, though it would have been 100x better than "The Osirian and Chosen One have to be kept apart."
Another idea I heard on the Wiki back in the day (and was used in a few season 4 fanfics) is that Caroline Denby didn't want Nina to meddle in the ceremony. So she made up the whole "Chosen One/Osirian being apart" thing and told Nina that to convince her not to go back to school. That works, too.
I had to leave because...?
What would be some reasons Nina would leave during Season 3 other than, the Osirian and Chosen One can't be together? In all honesty, I never really vibed with that reasoning but understood why the writers chose.
I have an idea for my story, but thought I would toss the question out there for fans of the show to respond.

#bro wanted to stay young and hot so bad he turned to stalking and kidnapping 😭#like dude it’s not that serious just get some botox and retinol cream#house of anubis#rufus zeno
Not gonna lie, the second tag sounds like something Amber would say!
Rufus was definitely in the wrong genre. All these kids are living their Egyptian mystery lives and he’s over here in his horror crime show, kidnapping children and ready to murder people.

Hi Avery, aka @victorspindrop! I'm your Secret Santa this year. I'm sorry if this is a bit late (it's technically still the 15th in my time zone). I made a Fabina edit using the song "Brielle" by Sky Sailing. If you don't know, Sky Sailing is a side project by Adam Young of Owl City that actually predates Owl City. I've long associated this song with the couple, particularly when Nina didn't return in season 3. I hope you like it!
And thanks to @ofsapphicambers for organizing the Sibuna Secret Santa this year.

Anyone outside the US reporting similar bad luck?
Me after learning ALL of House of Anubis was removed from Paramount+ in the US, RIGHT AFTER planning to do an edit for the Sibuna Secret Santa:
At least season 1 is still on Netflix, but I would have to buy the other seasons. Speaking of, seasons 2 and 3 are broken up into 4 seasons each, meaning at $20 per "season", I would have to cough up $160 to gain access to the rest of the show!! So, uhh...

That's nothing. I'm turning 30 next year, and back when House of Anubis was still airing for the first time, I can count on 1 hand the number of people I knew at school (high school, mind you) who watched and liked the show.
no bc looking back on the show as an adult makes rufus a way worse fucking villain than he already seemed when I watched this show at the crisp ages of 10-12 years old
Like when I first watched it he of course seems like this Really Bad Guy because he kidnapped one of the main characters (which was absolutely shocking for me as someone who wasn't even allowed to watch spongebob. but could somehow watch this)
but then I look back on it as an adult and like. first of all. I know how young these characters are. when I watched it as a kid they seemed like Cool Mature Teenagers but as an adult it's like. these are babies.
and it hits me that he saw a very vulnerable teenage girl being dismissed and dissuaded by every single adult that she turned to in order to find her missing best friend and poised himself to look like the only adult who took her seriously and wanted to help her. patricia didn't feel like she could trust any of the adults around her because she couldn't. because every adult she turned to at her school prioritized their search for immortality over their responsibilities to keep their students safe (and even the police didn't help her because why would they). because she was surrounded by adults that she realized were "in on" something and she didn't know what it was - she just knew she couldn't trust them to help her. she was angry and desperate and confused and vulnerable and she was a teenage girl being failed by every adult around her.
and the way she was failed by every adult responsible for looking after her made it incredibly easy for a man with the worst intentions possible to. first of all. appear to stalk her. and then make himself seem like someone she can trust by claiming to be a private investigator who is. at this point. the only adult who seems willing to listen and help her try to find her missing best friend. and then when she finally felt like she had someone she could trust and that she was getting close to the answers about her friend. he kidnapped her and held her in an old warehouse for days. and even after her rescue she continued to have nightmares about it
and like. idk. I've said before that if it were rebooted/made with a higher audience then rufus would have been explicitly a groomer a way worse villain but like. as an adult now i'm kind of smacked with the realization of how awful he was to begin with
