I just finished reading The Mountain in the Sea and what a banger of a book. You wanna read a book about intelligent octopi and what their society might look like? SIKE it’s actually a near-future dystopia about AI and ethics and the nature of consciousness! Sounds cool right? SIKE AGAIN it’s actually about the subjective experience of being alive and the inherent loneliness of being human and how people (fail to) cope with it
