Now what was that supposed to mean? Irina wasn’t a lot of things, but she was attractive. The girl raised her eyebrow and shook her head “Oh you’re too good of a person to be attracted to people like us? How cute is that.” Obviously the boy was something else, kind of different from the other people in school, and Irina couldn’t hide her annoyence. Like nobody had just pure intentions. That was ridiculous. “You can’t even offend someone without being nice? Bloody hell, how you even stayed alive for so long?”
The boy couldn’t help, but laugh. What was it with these people, now it was offensive that he was nice, what a weird world. “I’m not too good, and that was not my point, Irina.” Matteo said and now smiled warmer. “Well, If everyone is so annoyed with me being nice as you are, that is a question I would also love to be answered.” he joked. He was getting nervous, cause he was pretty sure that he was upsetting her, even if her way of showing it was weird. And honestly this was never his intention. “I - I’m sorry. If I was rude, I m - mean. Maybe all I had to say was - I’m glad that you’re ok, I was worried about you...”

“Hello there!” Amelia laughed “Jamie!! I think it’s for you!” she yelled, waiting for her brother to come down the stairs. “Are you Jamie’s girlfriend? You must be, otherwise you wouldn’t leave something here. Though I didn’t know he was dating a crackhead..” the blonde shrugged and crossed her arms in front of her chest. “I’m sorry, that was rude. What was your name again?”
“I’m here to pick up my jacket – It’s a dark blue denim jacket. I left it here few days ago.” Irina sighed, and pointed at the jacket, that was folded on the chair, next to the window.

“You washed my jacket? Are you gay or something?” the girl said, taking her jacket. What the hell was wrong with this boy. “Or you have some sick obsession with the lost causes in this school? Cause I saw you last night with Cassie. Not gonna happen you know that, right?”
“Neither one.” Matteo said looking down. “I - I’m only attracted to girls, but no offense not to you or Cassie.” he said looking at her again. “I’m attracted to girls who treat me the same way I treat them.” the boy shrugged. “I’m sorry if I crossed the line somehow.”

“Oh - Irina hi!” Matt wasn’t expecting a visit so early, but he was happy to see the brunette. She missed all the classes this week, so he was happy that she was okay. “There was a stain on it, so I washed it, I hope you don’t mind.” the boy said smiling, handing her the jacket.

Rosie/Matteo
Matt’s cheeks turned bright red when his mother asked him if there was anyone he was dating or he liked. He was 17 and he wasn’t too close with his mom at all, so why did she thought that this is the best way of bonding. Couldn’t she ask him something about school or something. “Mom, don’t. Please. I kind of don’t feel comfortable talking with you about girls and I’m scared that you’re about to give me the birds and the bees talk, which is gross.” the boy said, hoping that his dad will come home soon and save him from this nightmare.

The girl tripped and almost fell on the floor, but the boy she was talking with, catched her, without saying anything, so Cassie continued having an argument in which she asked and answered her own questions ”I have no idea who are you and why are you talking to me, but everything that comes out of that pretty mouth of mine is smart, and it makes as much sense as it can. So excuse you.” maybe having an argument while drunk, wasn’t her best decision, but oh boy she never missed an opportunity to have a fight. Even more with a stranger. It was fun. “So you think I’m embarassing, Michelangelo?”
Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to say anything at all, but Matteo knew he was right. As the girl tripped, he catched her and tried to keep her up. ”It’s Matteo, actually. I uhm - I never said that you’re embarassing, I just thought that the things you’re saying to all these people, are some things you may regret later.” the boy defended himself, struggling to decide what to do. She wouldn’t understand anything, cause she was obviously too drunk to even say her name. But he couldn’t just let her do and say all these stupid things, cause he thought that tomorrow she will feel awful about it. And who knows what can happen, someone could do something to her, and he may never forgive himself if he knew he could help. “C - Cassie...that’s your name, right? I know that we just met, but...I can drive you home, if you want to. I mean, I don’t want to leave you here alone...” she couldn’t even stand still, if he let go of her, she would probably be on the ground after a second. And leaving her alone, was not something a gentleman would do. When he saw her face getting kind of pale, he got even more worried, was she feelings sick “Are you ok? Do you need to sit down or to throw up or something...” where the hell were her siblings, he could swear that he saw them earlier.

A small smile grew on Jamie’s face when his nephew gave him the most typical humble reaction. “I’m sure she’s not the only one out there thinking that,” he said, pretty confidently. He was sure most people agreed Matteo was one of the most decent people in school. “And I’m not only saying that ‘cause you’re family, promise.” His smile got bigger when he thought back about his first meeting with Clara. He must’ve met a dozen other people since then, but no one had made an impact on him quite like she did. “Yeah, me too…” he nodded. However, his expression transformed from dreamy to offended in seconds, when Matteo reminded him he had been talking about the girl for a long time. “Hey!” Jamie shouted, as he playfully gave him a push. “I just wasn’t expecting people to be so nice out here, that’s all. I just like some nice old-fashioned human decency, that’s all.”
Matteo’s cheeks turned bright red, he was not good at reciving compliments. ”For someone to think that, they need to know me or notice me at least, and I - I’m not exactly someone who stands out” he said shrugging. He didn’t really mind that, sometimes it was a privilage. But it could be lonely at times. “But thank you, Jamie. I appreciate it.” he said smiling at his cousin. “Oh yeah right, you also said that the security guy seemed nice, but there weren’t sparkles in your eyes when you talked about him.” he joked, knowing that Jamie probably really was impressed with Clara, and he could totally understand that. She had this energy that made her connect with every person she meets like right away. It wasn’t something Jamie needed to be embarassed of. “I’m kidding, but I would completely understand if you like her. She’s pretty and she’s nice. It’s hard not to like her. I would say go for it. ”

Cassie sighed at bit her lip. “I don’t have a nicer way, Clara. I’m just so sick and tired of you being around all the time, I need 5 minutes without you, is that too much to ask? Why can’t you go be all happy and smart somewhere else?” the girl asked, trying to keep her calm. She wanted a little time for herself and it wasn’t possible with her sister around. She was always so happy and perfect that Cassie just couldn’t stand it. Being happy all the time was not mental health, it was crap.
Her sister was always so different from her, but sometimes Clara really couldn’t understand what was going on in her head. And honestly she felt like Cassie kind of hated her. But why, she never did anything wrong to her sister. Why was she always acting out. “Well, I live here too Cass, it’s not like I can go sleep with the dog.” the girl said, still not sure what she did wrong this time. “How does my mood bother you, anyway? It’s not like I’m complaining that you’re always grumpy. If there is something that bothers you, just tell me. I’m your sister after all...you can’t change that.” She always wanted to be close with her sister, but Cassie was making that impossible since they were 4.

Why were all the freshmans such an egocentric assholes. ”Seems like your manners are the same as your scary attitude…non existent. But it was a good try, honestly. I’m impressed.” Cassie said, trying to bring the girl back to the Earth, cause it seemes like she was way up in the clouds. What was she trying to be, some lame impresonator of Regina George or what. “It’s Cassie, nice to meet you. Just a quick advice Andrea…I’m sorry it was Amelia, next time when someone is being nice to you, try not to forget that you’re not a teen comedy star and at least introduce yourself in a decent way.”
Oh yeah, the only thing missing was someone lecturing her ”Oookay, with all my respect If I wanted a lecture I’d be at home right now, so drop the smartass act.” Amelia said, faking a smile. The girl sounded exactly like her parents, and she was not having it. She came here for a reason and her attitude was not chagning anytime soon “Okay, Cassie... I’ll also give you an advice, next time you see someone who has no interest in being nice with you, just drop it.” the blonde really had to interest in being nice with Cassie, nor with anyone else. People were assholes and being nice to everyone was no way to go through life, cause they will take advantage of it, and you’re the only one loosing in this situation. She tried being nice, and honestly it sucked, so she was over it.

She took the keys and looked at the person standing in front of her ”What’s wrong with you? I don’t have a license!” she wasn’t sure what exactly was the person thinking. “Well If you’re willing to die, I can definetly drive, but…come on, was I your best choice?”
Why she couldn’t just say yes. It was important for him "You don’t understand!” he said, trying to think about a way he could make her do it. “Come on, Grace, we’re not dying. You can’t be that bad.” the boy tried to explain, but she kept talking without even listening to him. “Well not my best choice, but the only one who could maybe say yes.” there were better questions she could be asking right now, and he was so glad she didn’t think of any of it. Like whose car was it or where the hell were they going. “Come on, it’s an adventure, you’ll love it!” Alex begged one more time.

Not exactly the thing Cassie wanted to wintess, but saying that she didn’t have fun was going to be a big fat lie. “Ouch, what the hell happened to you?” she asked, pretending to be worried. Was she the only person on her right mind in this so called school, or were everyone else having a bad day. Honestly it looked kind of bad, so maybe it wasn’t the time for her humor, that not everyone found as funny as she did. “Did you got into a fight or you were hit by a car? Cause your eye is kind of walking 2 meters ahead of you.”
Zoe laughed at Cassie and shrugged with a huge smile on her face “I got into a fight.” she was so proud of herself, and it probably looked like she was crazy. “So some girl called me a whore and I was just about to get over it, but then I remembered that getting into a fight is on my bucket list, so i went with it...but...” the girl said showing her bruises proudly “I think I look really hot and badass, the only problem is that it hurts like hell, like she was 40 kilograms, and she hits like a WWE player.” also the other problem was how was she going to explain her mom what happened. Annelie was never a strict mother, but still she wouldn’t like that her daughter, was fighting around campus like she’s some boy that just hit puberty.

Jamie scoffed because Matteo didn’t believe he was telling the truth. “I know I say crazy things way more often than I can count, but this time I’m being dead serious! This girl didn’t have anything but nice things to say about you. She even said she thought you’re a sunshine. After a while I honestly wondered if we were talking about the same person,” he continued, referring to the first conversation he had with Clara. It was a conversation that hadn’t left his mind since it happened, and so he ended up telling his cousin about it.
”I’m as suprised as you are, Jamie.” the boy said and looked down. “I - I mean I didn’t know that someone sees me that way.” he was really happy about that actually. He wasn’t the most talkative guy in the school, or outside the school, and knowing that someone actually noticed him, made him feel kind of seen, something he never had. Not that his parents were bad parents, but he was so different and shy, nothing like them. And they never really understood him.”She’s amazing, really. It’s good that you met someone nice.” Matt said with a shy smile. “But seems like you already know that. You had like 5 minutes conversation with her, and you’re talking about it...” he looked at his watch “Soon will be an hour.” the boy said, jokingly.

Jamie tried his best not to grin foolishly when Clara told him he can count on her. Props for him for picking out someone to start a conversation with who didn’t only seem like one of the kindest, but also one of the most generous people in school. “I will make sure to keep that in mind. Thanks!” he answered her genuinely. Jamie thought, in the least creepy way possible, how was kind of nice to know they would see each other around after this. It was good to have at least one acquaintance that wasn’t family. “Ah, look at that! I should’ve known. I’m sure him and I are in some of the same classes, too,” he commented. Oh man, when Matteo finds out a cute girl has been gushing about him and calling him a sunshine behind his back, he’s going to freak. “I mean, yeah, I already figured, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being annoying or something,” he continued, half-jokingly. Seconds later, he learned her name: Clara. He couldn’t really explain why, but the name fit the girl perfectly. “Hi, Clara,” he said while reaching out his hand. “My last name sounds so basic compared to yours,” Jamie remarked. “Is it English? If you don’t mind me asking…”
Clara smiled “You’re welcome.” the blonde really hoped that maybe somehow she’ll be helpful, even if that only meant that he’ll see one friendly face at class, sometimes it was enough, and she hoped that, that was the case right now. “Which means some classes with me, we’ll have a lot of fun.” Clara hoped she wasn’t way too enthusiastic for his taste. “I speak my mind, so if that was the case, I would have told you that you’re annoying, but you’re a nice company.” the girl said and winked at him. Clara also reached out her hand to the boy “Hi, Jamie.” When he asked her about her last name, the blonde smiled widely. She loved talking about her French roots. “It’s French, actually. And I don’t mind at all, I really love talking about it, no one ever listens, but I’m proud of it. My grandma is French, and so from my dad’s side I have French roots.” she explained with a huge cheerful smile. “Your name is not basic, it’s just traditional for your nationality. Every name has a story, and from what I know it’s never basic.”

“That sounds like legit information,” Jamie said with a nod, thinking back about all the rain they got back in the UK. Ever since he arrived here, the sun hadn’t stopped shining. “At least there’s still four seasons here just like back home. It will always take some getting used to but I’m sure it won’t be that hard.” When she wondered if she knew who his cousin was, Jamie couldn’t help but smirk. “Matteo Carter is his name. I wouldn’t be surprised if you had never heard of him before – I don’t think he’s such a people’s person. If he hasn’t changed drastically since I’ve last seen him, at least.” Jamie nervously scratched the back of his neck when he realized he hadn’t even introduced himself yet. “Oh yeah, right. I’m Jamie Wilson, it’s nice to meet you! I’m sorry if I’ve wasted your time by rambling on – I’m sure you have dozens of better things to do right now.”
Clara shook her head and smiled “You can always count on me If you need help around here.” He was nice, he seemed a little shy though, but she couldn’t blame him. New place, new people, new everything, it probably was a lot. “I know him, actually, we’re in the same class. Sits behind me." the girl said, remembering how nice Matteo actually was. He was helpful and friendly, once he gets to know someone. “Yeah, he’s not a people’s person, but he’s a sunshine.” Clara explained. “You didn’t waste my time, I enjoyed the conversation actually. And it’s really nice to meet you, Jamie Wilson. I’m Clara. Clara Coupeau.”

“Dilemma of the day: how do you tell your enthusiastic-crazy-athletic-high-school-star-football-player-dad that dreams about you following his footsteps you’d rather not try out for the football team, without breaking his heart in a million tiny pieces?” Caleb and his dad had always been super close, and the sixteen year-old hated the thought of ever coming close to disappointing him. He hated it so much he was literally asking anyone for advice at this point, stranger or not.
“Oh my god, you’re talking like way too much, but I’ll try to be as helpful as my evil persona can be.” the girl said looking at him like he was crazy. He was just talking, to the nothing, what if there was some stranger, he was giving way too much information for his own good. “If you think that his heart will break into million pieces, and it probably will, cause he’s like super sweet and nice, you can also be sure that he probably wants the best for you.” Zoe couldn’t follow her own thought, but whatever. “So just tell him that you love him, but that’s not your dream...I mean he will be dissapointed I guess, but if you have nice arguments and you can tell him right away what exactly you like more and what you’d like to do, he will support you.” she shrugged and took a deep breath “Was that helpful? Like even a bit?”

Jamie was walking through the hallway as he recognized an incredibly familiar voice coming from the other side. He really thought he was going crazy for a second, because the voice sounded exactly like his little sister, it had just the right amount of sass in it. But that was impossible, his sister was back in Manchester with their parents. The boy turned around and then was surprised by the sight of a tiny girl with a blonde ponytail, telling off some unknown guy. “Amelia? What the heck are you doing out here?” Jamie asked her, completely ignoring the fact that they had company.
When she heard her brother’s voice, Amelia sighed and moved her eyes on him. Why was he always interrupting her. That was so annoying. “Oh you’re glad that I’m here? How nice of you, Jamie.” she said with a sarcastic voice. “You’re kind of ruining my badassnes. If that’s a word, actually...look I almost scared him.” the blonde said, pointing at the guy she was talking to before her brother interrupted her. “And you ruined it.”
