French Presidential Election 2022: The Main Candidates

The dates for the presidential election have been set: the first round will be held on 10 April, the second on 24 April 2022.

Emmanuel Macron is the current President of the Republic since 2017. He is the youngest president of the Fifth Republic. He is 43 years old. He is a centrist. He has had a complicated mandate with “Les Gilets Jaunes” and Covid19. He was a banker and Minister of the Economy and Deputy Secretary General of the cabinet of the then President of the Republic François Hollande.

If Marine Le Pen wins, she would be the first woman to preside over France. At 53, she is the president of the far-right party, the National Rally. She took the torch from her father Jean-Marie Le Pen. She has a rich background in politics. She was a Member of the European Parliament and a regional councilor for Nord-Pas-de-Calais. She is second in the polls for the 2022 presidential election with 17% ahead of Zemmour but behind Macron.

Eric Zemmour is a 63-year-old French writer, polemicist and politician. He grew up in Seine-Saint Denis in Île-de-France. He began his professional career as a political journalist. He became popular thanks to his books and also thanks to his public speeches where he made remarks that divided a lot. He was convicted several times for comments deemed racist, homophobic or discriminatory. This year he decided to launch his political career and confirmed his participation in the presidential election on Tuesday, November 30 with an announcement video of candidacy and a television interview on Tf1. It is placed on the side of the extreme right.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is 70 years old. He is the leader of the left-wing party “La France Insoumise”. He has a fairly extensive political background. He was a Member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2017, a French Senator from 2004 to 2010 and a General Councilor of Essonne. This is the third time he has run in the presidential elections.

Anne Hidalgo is the current mayor of Paris. She is 62 years old. She has been mayor of the capital since 2014. In recent times, the reforms it is taking are often questioned and do not please local residents. A member of the Socialist Party (PS), she was first deputy mayor of Paris from 2001 to 2014 and regional councilor of Île-de-France from 2004 to 2014. After the 2014 municipal elections, she became the first woman mayor of Paris. She decided this year to run in the 2022 presidential elections. It is placed on the left.

« Les Républicains » is a party of the right. On the 4th of December, they chose who will be the representative of their group for the presidential election of 2022. At the beginning, there were 5 candidates : Michel Bernier, Éric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin, Xavier Bertrand and Valérie Pécresse. Valérie Pécresse and Éric Ciotti are qualified for the second round with 25% and 25.59%. The results of the candidate who will represent the right will be announced on 4 December. This presidential election is extremely important for the party, it can sign its return to the front of the stage.

According to a poll from last week of the first round of the 2022 presidential election, we can see Éric Zemmour's breakthrough neck and neck with Marine Le Pen, he appears as an alternative for the extreme right electorate. Emmanuel Macron is in first position, the traditional right and the left are struggling to convince. However, a presidential election often holds important surprises and several major reversals.

Goodbye Virgil Abloh

Virgil Abloh, born September 30, 1980 in Rockford and died November 28, 2021 in Chicago from cancer, a cardiac Angiosarcoma, which he had been secretly fighting since 2019.

He was an American multidisciplinary designer with multiple interests. An architect by training, he was a fashion designer, men's artistic director of Louis Vuitton, founder of the Milan-based brand Off-White, and used to mix luxury and streetwear. He is also a designer, disc jockey and for a time the right-hand man of American rapper Kanye West. He’s well known The Off-White x Nike The Ten capsule collection celebrates the brand's iconic models, which the designer has revisited28. The collection is divided into two themes: "REVEALING" where the reworked models are the Air Jordan 1, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air VaporMax and Nike Blazer Mid, and "GHOSTING" where the designer's touch is brought to the Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force One Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 and Nike Air Max 9729 trainer model. Virgil Abloh said he wanted to "highlight the perfection of Nike's manufacturing and design system "30 through this collaboration.He also designed a pair of Off White x Nike Mercurial Vapor for Kylian Mbappé for the 2018 League Cup final in the early 2000s, he became an artistic consultant for Kanye West, advising the rapper in particular on his record sleeves and the set designs for his concerts. Covid: Omicron Variant Poses "Very High Risk", Warns The World Health Organization

The World Health Organization considers the risk from the Omicron variant of Covid to be "very high" globally, due to its rapid transmissibility around the world. Accelerated vaccination against Covid is therefore strongly advised, especially among the most vulnerable populations.

A new variant, named “Omicron�� has been detected in South Africa. Many countries around the world have already reported confirmed cases of this new variant.Omicron, which is probably more contagious than the Delta variant and more resistant to vaccines due to numerous mutations, is emerging as Europe faces a fifth wave of Covid-19. Despite high vaccination rates, many countries have been forced to reinstate restrictions to slow the spread of the virus.Flights are being organized to repatriate French people to Morocco after the borders were closed Sunday night due to the rapid spread of the new Omicron variant.People infected with the Omicron variant in South Africa have very different symptoms from those affected by Delta, according to Angelique Coetzee, the South African doctor who alerted government scientists to the possibility of a new variant.Patients who have contracted the Omicron variant suffer from headaches, sore throats and occasional coughing, as well as severe fatigue. Infections with the Delta variant caused elevated pulse rates, resulting in breathing difficulties and loss of smell and taste.

Omicron Variant

A new Covid-19 variant appears in Europe. The Omicron Variant.

This variant came from South-Africa. Positive’s case appears in Europe, especially in the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Czech Republic. The Netherlands said that 13 cases of this variant appear in their country.

In Portugal, omicron cases appear in Belenenses football club. This Monday, the national health institute explained that all the 13 cases came from this team.  In addition to this, they lost 7-0 against Benfica.

The European Union said that the risk is “High to very high”.

France forbids trips from Africa, to stop the risk of propagation of this new variant. In the Netherlands, they also forbid trips from Africa. Other countries took the same decisions as the Netherlands like Brazil, Canada, Iran, and the United States.

Israel decided to stop entry from every stranger of the world. Morocco suspended all Aerians trips from the entire world for two weeks.

South Africa does not understand the decision of other countries to ban all flights from southern African countries. For them, this punishment is “akin to punishing South Africa for its advanced genomic sequencing and ability to detect new variants more quickly.”.

In Hong Kong, a pandemic expert, David Hui, explains that the two people who were positive to the new variant, “had only very mild symptoms, such as a sore throat”. These two people also receive their two Pfizer doses.

I love my job

Hi my name is Alexandre and I am 25 years old. I live in Barcelona and I am a journalist. When I was young, I always dreamed of living in Barcelona, because of the football club, but also the weather and the city, which is very attractive. Today, I am going to introduce you to my week as a journalist.

Monday is a very important day. I often write pages for two newspapers : L’Equipe , a French sport newspaper and MundoDeportivo, a Spanish sports newspaper. I will summarize the games of the weekend. The afternoon, I worked on a project with a member of the redaction team. We are preparing a trip to South America to discover the world of football.

Tuesday morning, I often take part in the press conference of FC Barcelona. The afternoon, I can go back home and rest.

Wednesday is the chilliest day of the week. I do nothing. I can spend my time with my friends or my family. Also, I can prepare my future projects, interviews or reports.

This Thursday, I had an interview with Iker Casillas, an old football player and a legend of Real Madrid. This interview was very interesting. I was excited to meet him. This is what I love about my job. I can meet the heroes of my youth and I can travel the whole world.

Friday, I will move to the place of the match that I will comment on the weekend. I can go anywhere, stay in Spain or move to France, Italy, England or Germany, even Portugal. It depends where they need me.

Honestly, I love my job, I think it is the best job in the world ! Like I said, I travel, I meet celebrities and I talk about my passion : Football. However, it’s difficult to have a stable life and a family because I am not often at home.

A victory for the freedom of expression

This Friday 8 of October, a battle for freedom of expression has been won, in fact two journalists from countries where the press and the right to speak are limited were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dmitri Mouratov is the editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper « Novaïa Gazeta », he fights against the russian government, its oppression on freedom of expression and its propaganda full of lies. Maria Ressa, the other winner,is a woman who creates the investigative media «Rappler ».She worked for two decades as an investigative journalist in South-East Asia for CNN. From this experience she will remember the dangerousness of a profession like journalism in an area like South-East Asia. This Nobel Prize means a lot to the world of journalism, it's a worldwide encouragement for the right to freedom of expression in the world.

Final of the Final Four

Yesterday, the final of the Nations League took place in Milan's mythical San Siro stadium, where AC Milan normally play their home games.The French football team qualified last Thursday against Belgium with a score of 3 goals to 2.

Thanks to this great victory, France went to the Final yesterday against a very strong Spanish team, La Roja, which beat Italy in the semi-final. This match was very important for Didier Deschamps' team who were recently defeated in the semi-final by Switzerland at Euro 2020.

As a result, the France team was eagerly awaited and didn’t play as well as they had last Thursday against Belgium.

Indeed, yesterday, the goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and his partners were very not that active in the first half and were largely dominated by the organized and combative Spain Team The Roja.

It was in the second half that the match took a turn with the first goal scored by the Spanish player Oyarzabal. Then, a sudden change of the France team leads to the quick equalizer thanks to a superb goal from striker Karim Benzema.

Finally, in the 80th minute of play, the striker Mbappé scored the winning goal for the France team thanks to a sumptuous pass from Théo Hernandez.

The Harry Potter movies and books gained worldwide fame and they are still a phenomenon today. This little wizard with glasses who enters a school of witchcraft and meets these two best friends in order to defeat the one-whose-must-not-pronounce-the-name has gone around the world. The author, JK Rowling, first wrote the books in English, then they were translated into 80 different languages for 200 countries. The saga has also been adapted into 8 films which in turn have had phenomenal success. Today, the adventure is over, but many derivative items are produced and sold every day around the world. On January 1, a "meeting" will take place with a number of the original cast, but JK Rowling will not be present due to the controversy that there was a not long ago. The reunion show will air on HBO Max. Enough to delight fans.

The trio met, for the first time, in Hogwarts Express. Harry and Ron became friends right away, but with Hermione it took longer, indeed, she was first class and it annoyed Ron. The three of them then became best friends and never left each other again.

They grew up together and each year at their college was not easy. Today we are going to tackle a particular topic, the hairless dogs of Peru. Also called, in their country of origin, "el Perro sin pelo del Perú"

The hairless dog appeared during pre-Inca archaeological times, between the years 300 BC. and 1400s after BC.

The peculiarity of this breed being that a litter can include hairless dogs but also furry dogs.

But, today, we are especially interested in the hairless dog. Indeed, these dogs are a real miracle, especially for allergy sufferers.

There are three sizes of hairless dog in Peru: the small, medium, and large.

These dogs live in packs in Peru but in France they are perfect pet dogs, very close to their master but, on the contrary, wary of strangers, they make perfect guard dogs.

They also have the intelligence to become a service dog, notably as an emotional support dog.

The hairless dog from Peru is a very original and elegant dog that can also participate in many competitions.

The Peruvian hairless dog is not more fragile than any other dog; indeed, it resists both extreme cold and extreme heat.

Their skin marks a lot but heals particularly quickly.

As for their diet, they will adapt to the choice of their masters, but the most suitable food for this dog remains the BARF. It is to give raw food; This will come as close as possible to their natural food that could have been found while they were living in Peru.

They are particularly majestic and noble dogs.

Formula Grand Prix In Brazil (Autodromo José Carlos Pace)

On November, Saturday the 14th, the Brazilian Grand Prix took place on the Interlagos track, in São Paulo. The Brazilian Grand Prix was the 19th of the season, consisting of 22 races. This season starts on March, the 28th and ends on December, the 12th 2021. This season gave a lot of pleasure for the fans, because Formula 1 came back stronger after a half-hearted season due to Covid-19. This Grand-Prix was amazing because it showed how Hamilton is the leader of this sport. During this week-end, he took 25 place penalties, but he finished 1st.

Interlagos track is a circuit that has been on the F1 calendar since 1972. This track opened in 1940. It is composed of 15 corners. The best time made on this circuit is 1 min 07 s 281. The length of the circuit is 4,309 km. This track was built in 1938. There are 60 000 places in this circuit.

The first practice session took place on November, Friday the 12th. The 7th times champion, Lewis Hamilton, took the best chrono of this session. On the 13th of November, the sprint qualification took place. It’s Valterri Bottas (Finland) who assured the first place for Mercedes AMG-Petronas F1 Team. Valterri Bottas is the teammate of Lewis Hamilton, but it’s his last season with him, because he moved to Alfa Roméo next year. It’s another British driver who replaced Valterri, and it’s George Russel. During this sprint qualification, Lewis Hamilton made an amazing race. He started 20th, and finished 5th. A good result for a chaotic weekend.

The race took place on the 14th of November. Verstappen started 2nd, Hamilton 5th. Everyone saw Verstappen win this race, but Lewis Hamilton needs this win to be always dangerous for the championship. But, during the race, a dangerous movement was made by Verstappen. He pushed Hamilton and him out of the track which is forbidden by the FIA, but Max Verstappen didn’t receive a penalty. On the 59th lap of the race, Hamilton passed Verstappen and led the race. It’s finally Lewis who won the race, and fill the gap between him and Verstappen for the Championship.

Toto Wolff, the manager of Mercedes AMG-Petronas F1 Team, went to the FIA to appeal on the decision of them to not give a penalty to Max Verstappen on what he did on the 4th corner in Brazil. The FIA gave their decision Friday 19th of November, and the right of review, asked by Mercedes on the incident on Hamilton corner 4th was declined. They refused to give Verstappen a penalty.

The History Of Spider-Man Movies

The third marvel film dedicated to spider man will be released on 15 november 2021in France. The occasion for us to make a quick overview on all the spiderman’s movies. To respond to theories about Spider-Man no way and the possible returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield we will focus on Spiderman's movies since 2002. Between 2002 and 2O21 heights movies were filmed with three different actors in Spider-Man roles. We can see that the little boy created by Stan Lee in 1962 has come a long way until “Spider-Man no way home” which will be in cinema in less than a month. This last movie of the Queens teenager is eagerly awaited by fans.

In 2002 it was Tobey Maguire who was chosen to interpret Peter Parker in cinema. He will make three movies in Spider-Man’s role. During his adventures he faced Green Goblin, Dark Goblin, Sandman, Doctor Octopus and himself when he was possessed by Venom. For the majority of Spider-Man’s fans, Tobey Maguire is the first and the best in this role.

The trilogy ends with the third opus in 2007. However, Sony, who made 2,5 billion dollars thanks to three movies, wants to make a fourth movie. Unfortunately Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi(director) declined the offer.

So it’s Andrew Garfield who takes over the costume in 2012 in a reboot of the saga entitled “The Amazing Spider-Man” . There will only be two films because of differences between Sony's Plans and Andrew Garfield's wishes. After the second movie in 2014, Sony found an agreement with Disney and Spider-Man will join the MCU ( Marvel Cinématic Universe).

In 2016 Tom Holland made his surprise debut in Captain America Civil War as Spider-Man. He tooks place in the two Avengers movies following Civil War. Disney made him the successor of Iron Man in his two movies (Home coming and Far from home). An adventure who touches on it ends because No way home will be his last appearance in the MCU.

“Spider-Man No way Home” will be released on 15 December 2021 in France. It will be the last movie for Tom Holland in Peter Parker’s role. A film that is causing great anticipation among fans. Many rumours circulate, the big one is the return of the other Spider-Mans, a temporal rift. This movie promises a great score at the box-office.

Saturday, at the Parc des Princes, a Football Game opposed the French team and Kazakhstan. Didier Deschamps' team qualified for the next world cup, they are the first team of the group D.

The game begins with the national anthems like all the time. After, an emotional tribute was paid to the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13 november 2015. The whole stadium realized a minute of silence.

NBA Preseason Matches Recap (Day 8) By Tom Farganel

Yesterday 10 of october was already the 8th day of NBA preseason matches. 4 games were played and we kept seeing great things from the east and west franchises.

The Chicago Bulls remain undefeated in this preseason (3-0), they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers (1-3) by the closest margin (102-101) led by their new superstar Demar DeRozan (23 points) and late winning points by Dosunmu (9 points in 7 minutes). In the opposite side, Lauri Markkanen was the leading scorer for the “Cavs” with 18 points.

The San Antonio Spurs evened their record (2-2) by winning 101-100 against the Orlando Magic. Dejounte Murray (18 points) and Lonnie Walker IV (16 points) were the leaders in the victory for the Spurs. Terrence Ross scored 20 points and Mo Bamba was the closest to him with 16 points. Despite the defeat, this young Magic team kept up their great showing in this preseason.

The Milwaukee Bucks, reigning NBA champions won their first game in this preseason by a large margin against the OKC Thunder. With all their superstars, the Bucks dominated Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co by 20 points (130-110). Luguentz Dort and Jordan Nwora were the leading scorers for their teams with 19 and 15 points.

Finally, the game of the day was this opposition between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns which at the end was a no-match (123-94) thanks to the well oiled Suns system. Without Lebron James, Anthony Davis (19 points) and Carmelo Anthony (17 points) off the bench were the positive results for the Lakers last night. In the Phoenix side, without Devin Booker, there were 6 players with double-digit points including 36 years old Chris Paul (15 points) and young center Deandre Ayton (11 points). The Lakers still chase their first victory in this preseason with a 0-4 record so far.

For several decades, the quality of the environment has deteriorated and its ability to provide us with its valuable services has been reduced. Human activities are at the origin of this degradation. Our planet is being destroyed day by day, and we are not doing anything concrete to change that. Human activity has caused the Earth to warm an estimated 1.0 ° C above the pre-industrial average. If current patterns continue, a warming of 1.5 ° C will likely be reached between 2030 and 2052. The life of our planet and of the future generation is in our hands!

1/ The two main environmental nuisances of the automobile are air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Cars pollute our planet enormously. To reduce these emissions, priority should be given to public transport, etc.…

2/ Human activities are responsible for the destruction of ecosystems, for example, through deforestation. A degraded or destroyed ecosystem affects all the species that are part of it. Intensive agriculture emits large amounts of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. The expansion of agricultural land through deforestation and the drying up of wetlands destroys ecosystems.

3/ Pollution from plastic waste is increasing continuously… However, because of our global inability to manage plastic waste, each year, a third of plastic waste, or 100 million tonnes, is transformed into land or marine pollutants.

4/ We speak of melting ice to designate the sudden acceleration in recent decades of the disappearance of Arctic and Antarctic glaciers or mountain glaciers across the planet. A disappearance directly linked to global warming.

5/ The fumes released by the factories contain toxic acid gases which fall with the rain, such as SO² and sulfur oxide, for example. We then speak of acid rain which is harmful to vegetation and living beings. These fumes pollute the Earth.

6/ We have to stop polluting the Earth because because of pollution, the ozone layer is shrinking, destroying itself. The sun's rays pass more through the ozone layer and some rays are dangerous to health. This last image represents the effects of pollution on the Earth.

2021 Ballon d'Or : who deserve it who doesn't ?

Every year (except last year) it’s the same question : who deserves or not to win this mythical trophy ? Always a tough question for the journalist, the coach or even the players. If we look at the definition of the Ballon d’or on the internet it tells us that he is here to reward the best player of the year in Europe. Thirty players are selected to be chosen, for being the ballon d’or we see the goals, the assist, the way a player impacts the game. The ballon d'or has been much maligned in recent years because we don’t really care or a bit less about the team trophy that the player can win. Very few are the players who are unanimously selected as the winner, they always have personalities who do not agree and think someone else deserves to win the trophy. Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the both wowing the most time the award, Messi first Ronaldo second. Robert Lewandowski should have won it last year but because of covid-19 there was no ceremony. Clearly Lewandowski last year was unanimous; he won every possible trophy with Bayern Munich and scored a lot of goals, clearly a decent year for him. This year it’s a lot more complicated to find a winner. Messi, one of the favorites to help his team Barcelona who was in difficulty with them he won the Copa del Rey and with his national team he won the Copa America. Ronaldo is on the talk to Benzema, Lewandowski, Jorginho, Kanté ect...The ceremony will be on the 29th November 2021 for the time we can’t predict who’s going to win it even if the name of Leo Messi has been really heard.
