My second favorite month of the year!
It’s the third week of the semester and let me tell you, it’s really not great.
You know those dreams where you are running as fast as you can, but you’re not really moving? That’s this semester. I work thirteen hours a day, STRAIGHT, and I get nothing done. I haven’t had time to go to the grocery store… because I have so much work and no matter how much I do, there’s somehow still more?
Please send me all your positive vibes, friends <3

I don’t learn new lessons on a weekend. Instead I use that time to practice things I learnt in the week, go over vocabulary and see where my knowledge is lacking or lagging.
I also got my second weekly Duolingo report today and again, I am being consistent, and consistency is key when learning anything.
Time: 5hrs 7mins / XP: 1432 / Lessons: 113 / Words learnt: 117

My room is still a mess but this was the light pouring in this morning around 7am.
I can already tell that I’ll be highly dependent on this app and my journal this summer.

You should be outraged. You should be enraged and if you are not, if the senseless killing of the black community at the hands of our police force does not anger you please reevaluate your humanity.
To be unmoved by the current issues of our society is a privilege. To prioritize looting and damage to property over lost black lives and police brutality is to lack humanity.
Please evaluate and educate yourself, this is a major issue and we need serious reform and revolution in this country.
You can’t love the Romantics and academia and remain ignorant and complacent.

no one tells you how much of life takes practice. not just writing, painting, running, singing, etc, but practicing how to make friends. how to make the right ones. getting practiced at how to be a good friend, a good sibling, a good person. practice identifying when people haven’t earned that. learning to recognize your right to rage and, eventually, how to offer mercy. so much of life is muscle memory, and i’ve begun to realize there are so many more parts of ourselves to flex and stretch and strengthen than those we’re taught in anatomy lessons

a reminder for fellow students to be realistic about their productivity. real life will get in the way - trains get delayed, books will be on loan, classes are rescheduled. take a deep breath and problem-solve. adapting to the situation is not failure, but we are setting ourselves up for failure if we leave no room for it.

me, in the year 2040, getting ready for a fancy dinner party, standing in front of my antique gold vanity mirror, wearing a saint laurent f/w 2039 evening gown and cartier diamond earrings, taking a sip of champagne: what did you learn at school today, honey? :-)
my future child, laying on my king-sized bed with burgundy satin sheets: not much, in history we talked about the 2016 election. do you remember any of that?
me: drops my crystalline wineglass

Laws that made it illegal for blacks and whites to be buried in the same cemetery, that categorized people into quadroons and octoroons, that punished a black person for seeking medical attention in a white hospital. Some may claim that slavery has ended. But tell that to the inmates who are kept in cages and told that they don’t have any rights at all.
