SELF-REFLECTION

ASSESSMENT 2 (Motion Graphics) :

One of the difficulties I encountered was in creating the background. I had troubles with the kitchen set. I could not find one that has the correct perspective that suits the whole room. I was very lucky to have found one, even though the stove is in front of the window, and it is wrong. I could have put the window somewhere else, but I was running out of time. 

I watched tutorials to make the curtains move. Firstly, I created a solid, and used some effects in AE to make it move. Then I did the overlapping of the curtains by editing the mesh. 

I added a clock that moves 30 seconds. I took a clip of my friend with green screen and used the Keylight Effect to add her in. I created the drawings for the UFO in photoshop, and combined and animated them in AE. It had an unrealistic appearance, a big contrast from the Background. I thought it might look cute, even though it won’t seem professional. I searched from sound effects and also added in a background music so that the video looks more interesting.

So this is the background I created from masking and attaching walls and furnitures, and creating shadows to make it look more real. I made the curtains and clock move... 

:0 My next plan for this video is to take a clip of my friend with green screen, and I'll use the key lighting effects in AE, to add her into the scene. :) 

I'll create the Alien UFO myself with photoshop. I want the UFO to look cute and childish... It'll be in simple colours and very 2D, big contrast from the background that looks real.

Ball Bounce

I had difficulties when I was making new composition for the ball and the rotation. The ball didn't rotate correctly, and I couldn't find how to fix it. I looked at tutorial video for almost 10 times and still couldn't find the reason.. But now I know how, after a friend helped me... ^^

My video was a bit stretched because I had a mistake with scaling my background pictures to suit the composition scale...

I learned a lot throughout this tutorial. I was taught about 'easy ease', 'graph editors', and 'masking'.

I like how Vincent Derrien (the person who made this video) used the effects for the cut scenes. I also like the music and how he had played and arranged the audio(his son talking) throughout the scenes.

The Boxtrolls - End Credit Sequence

I haven't got the chance to watch The Boxtrolls yet,, but I'm definitely going to watch after my assignments are all done,, if it's still in cinema.... 

I like this motion graphic video. The art is very beautiful. It's very cute and inspiring. It uses lots of animating style which I can learn from.
