why are we not talking about indya moore?

trigger warning for sexual assault & r*pe, stalking, victim blaming.

a friend just brought to my attention that indya moore is dating a confessed r*pist & is allegedly stalking his victims on social media. the rapist, malcolm london, had posted his confession/statement all the way in february 2019. the following is a part of his statement where he confesses that he did r*pe someone. he follows this by stating that he doesn’t remember the other alleged incidents. 

now, indya moore is involved with malcolm london, who has r*ped multiple black women. it’s hard to believe that they wouldn’t have known about london’s past since they’re very present on social media & is an “activist” for their community. 

and it gets worse. people have found out that indya moore is following/stalking london’s victims on instagram. the victims say it best: nobody wants their r*pist’s partner following them. as someone who has been through this EXACT shit, i can tell you that this is beyond triggering & anxiety inducing, not to mention that indya moore is a public figure.

there are also claims that indya moore has made statements saying cis women are to blame for cis men’s violence towards trans people in their instagram comments but since they’ve deleted a lot of their past posts i couldn’t find the screenshots.

i want to end this by saying that i used to like indya and respected them as an activist for awhile but after seeing what harm they are bringing to the community they are supposedly standing up for, and refusing to acknowledge their own privilege over this community, it’s downright impossible to stand by them. i’m also only writing this because i didn’t see many people talking about this on tumblr & i wasn’t sure why. please inform your community because shit like this shouldn’t slide.

I performed new work about the Chicago Race Riots of 1919 and new Afrofuturist @afronautlab work! I'm very honored to have been invited to participate in the DuSable Museum of African American History and Chicago History Museum's stage at the 31st beach commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the riot! . HISTORY LESSON! The Chicago Race Riot began at the Twenty-ninth Street beach when a white man threw a rock at Eugene Williams, an African American teen, striking him and causing him to drown. When the commencement speaker at an HBCU decides to PAY ALL THE STUDENT DEBT of the graduating class! This is what #BlackTax looks like in a rare situation where a Black person has real wealth! Let's remember that a negligible number of black people have real wealth! As an educator that serves mostly under resourced black and brown youth, I exist in a suspended state of cognitive dissonance! I want all of the young people I work with to gain access to higher education. I believe my university education changed my brain and my capacities for the better, but I do not wish for my students to be trapped under the weight of student debt the way that my peers and I are! Especially my black youth, because according to a recent study blacks are the only population in the US tracked to have a median wealth of $0 in in my lifetime! That kind of generational wealth dissolve is damning when juxtaposed with increased cost for education! Blacks are already burdened with some of the highest costs to live and survive (economic, medical, systemic, etc)... Let's eradicate the cost of education because that will not only open doors to higher career capacities but will also allow us to give back to our own communities economically and attempt to mitigate, slow, or undo this possibility of having $0 of median wealth as a population! https://www.instagram.com/p/BzT4_3jlz5B/?igshid=11eezd30q35md
