Let me get this straight:

Basically, you ascend by killing a Great One? “As you once did for the vacuous Rom, grant us eyes.”

So Rom just may have been a part of the death of Kos.

Also, Micolash is clueless that Kos is dead, and begs for her to hear their prayers. Micolash yearns for ascension, but he became stuck as the Host of a nightmare. Just another pawn in the Great Ones’ game.
