Basically. I think it's just bleeding a lot. It doesn't hurt much.

We really ought to invest in golf carts. Or even Vespas.
Tumblr media
I suppose so... Do you mind if I walk for as long as I can, though?

It's a long story. It ends with me falling through my window.

I'm trying to get to the health center... But I'm not sure if I'll make it. [Gestures to blood streaming down her leg and arm]

Lux's torso slammed into the lawn, waking her from her hallucination. Another full out mirage of the same assassin, trying to kill her in almost any way he possibly could. Her breathing slowed as she remained on the lawn, trying not to move. The force of falling had shocked her numb, but feeling was beginning to return to her limbs faster than she would have liked. Sharp pains ran down her dominant left side. Ignoring them and the growing woozy feeling, Lux pushed off her right knee to stand and gasped in pain. Hundreds- perhaps even thousands of glass shards made her skin sparkle in the sunlight, many of them already soaked in blood. Lux swore. The window had broken her fall. She turned quickly on her heel and began to walk up to the health center with the sinking feeling that she wouldn't make it there.

No, because it's not true.

Literally anyone who manages to get out is back in. It's like a game with regenerating lives. You die, thirty seconds out, and you're back in business.
Fuck this place, I want out.
Well it’s possible you just weren’t good enough. Did you ever consider that?

Yeah, okay.
Tumblr media
Nobody ever really gets out once they've been in.
I'd know.
Fuck this place, I want out.
Well, rest assured I am going to make that happen. So.. you can go now.

We can't.
Tumblr media
One of the doctors has to clarify that we are "mentally stable" enough to survive in the real world, then there's a few weeks of meetings, then a discharge date is set, et cetra.
Fuck this place, I want out.
Tumblr media
Where can I sign myself out?

Lux managed to keep Clara's focus without throwing her off, luckily. She could have easily been in shock or had a panic attack, but she didn't seem too phased by the zombies. Huh. "It's no problem, seriously. Don't worry about it." Clara nodded in response, before asking her a question.
"H-Have there really been p-people who haven left their homes yet?" Lux nodded, grim faced, towards the untouched houses down the road.
" I'd say that there's still some people there unaffected, but not for long. It's up, that way... And we have to be careful. There's going to be more of them." Lux began walking, slipping behind her house carefully before checking over her shoulder to be sure Clara was following.
The Great Escape | | Zombie Week Prompt
Clara nodded, her eyes still a bit wide, but that would pass soon enough. She let out a sigh as the girl explained what had happened, and Clara knew Lux was the one who saved her. Again, someone needing to come to her rescue. Though Clara was eternally grateful, how many people would have to risk their lives for hers? She was the one who wanted to help, she’d always loved to help whether it be a person, an animal, a foundation or charity. Clara wanted to be the one to help for once, but as of recently it seemed nearly impossible. “Cl-Clara,” she stuttered, “And um… Thank you. F-For saving me.” Clara nodded again, the confusion dying away as her memories surfaced from the moments leading up to her attack, her mind creating a timeline between then and now. “H-Have there really been p-people who haven left their homes yet?” She couldn’t help but wonder aloud. Clara was a bit turned around, so she had to ask, “Which w-way is the health center?”

Sighing with relief when the brunette's eyes opened and blinked, meeting her gaze, Lux did her best to catch the other girl up without confusing her. "You're alive. Unbitten. You were only out for a few minutes. I'm Lux." She carefully watched the girl's expression until it seemed that she had absorbed the information. "Yeah.. More zombies." Lux offered a hand to help her up, and nodded towards the road that led to the rest of West Harbor. "There was a radio signal a few minutes ago, that's why I wasn't in the tree anymore. They want us all to go to the nearest medical area- in our case, the health center. Our homes aren't safe anymore- but I think you knew that."
The Great Escape | | Zombie Week Prompt
If there was something to be grateful for in the entirety of her condition, Clara would greatly appreciate the fact she was never out cold for more than a few minutes. Sure, she might fall asleep in the most inconvenient situations, like say running away from flesh-eating zombies, but she would only be out for five minutes, top. Clara might not have the most ideal of diagnoses, but it could be worse. And as expected, only a few minutes after she dropped did Clara begin to stir.
It was a slow process, waking up. It wasn’t abrupt, as Clara’s whole body had temporarily become paralyzed- she had to wait for everything’s feeling to come back. Clara could hear something- words, though they were muffled, as if she was underwater. Her fingers twitched, her eyes lazily opening. Then they widened as Clara recalled the last few moments before her latest episode. Had she been bitten? Were the zombies still around? Where was she? Instead of the face of a walker, Clara’s eyes met someone else’s- someone clearly alive. She blinked, the tingling feeling in her arms and legs telling her she could move once more.
Clara nodded, wrapping her dazed mind around the situation at hand. She struggled to stand, still a bit out of it, but managed to do so. “M-More?” She repeated, shaking out her numb leg. “Where um, wh-where are we gonna go?” Perhaps the question should have instead been an introductory statement of sorts, but Clara was focusing on the impending zombies rather than her manners.

The distinct slow gargling sound of the undead was becoming more and more familiar to Lux's ears, she realized as she turned to see a trio of them rounding the corner of a demolished house. They were making their way towards a slender brunette who was wandering carefully out of her house, as though she was drugged somehow- the girl was clearly still alive, but she moved sluggishly. Lux paused from her approach, hiding behind a bush. Was this girl in transition? A dark pit sank into her stomach. No- the girl was running, or trying to run. She got within a few feet of Lux when the girl's eyes glazed over before closing and she slowly slipped to the ground.
Jumping up, Lux sprang into action. Her martial arts training came in handy now- she crossed over the girl's sleeping form and beheaded the leading male zombie with a quick flick of her staff. Not bad. Another approached her from the left, and a stronger blow directly to the center of the throat took him out of her way. The third was soon upon her, and Lux took a moment to spin the staff before slamming him in the head with both sides.
Once sure the undead were dead for real, Lux turned to look at the girl. Walking over to brunette, Lux crouched and shook her shoulder gently. "Hey.. We need to get out of here... please wake up.." Lux was strong, but slender and less than average height. The brunette had a good four inches on her, easily. "I can't carry you... There's bound to be more."
The Great Escape | | Zombie Week Prompt
In a house, Clara hid, one of the ones that had unfortunately been obviously attacked and ransacked, seeing as besides a few unnecessary things, not much was left of the home. The door had long been kicked in, a killed zombie lying in a far corner of the bathroom and blood covering the floor- who’s it was, Clara had no idea. She was alone and unarmed, hiding in what was left kitchen, holding her only item- a bottle of pills, to her chest. Leon had thankfully found her the medication back over by her home, or what was left of it. That side of the island had long been compromised, and going there, especially as dark as it was, had been a huge risk, one that Clara, though she hated how Leon three his life in the line for her’s, was utterly grateful for the Xyrem: it was what helped keep her awake, and limited the cataplexic attacks. If anything was going to somehow keep her as conscious as possible, though even that was not for long, this medication would.
One of Clara’s best and worst traits was her desire to help people. Seeing as given the circumstance Clara was more of a burden than of any help, she was almost happy in a way to finally be on her own. Sure, that meant if she was approached by a zombie or two it was more than likely she was dead, but as Clara had mentioned to Leon, she would much rather prefer giving up her life than someone else’s. However, in putting so much distance between her and the few friends she had managed to make, worry consumed Clara, making her think of what could possibly be happening to them. Was Will alright? Had Liam managed to find a weapon other than the nerf gun? Did Holden and Leon find each other? We’re Benedict and Doctor Harkness alright in the medical center? Speaking of the center, a muffled radio broadcast pulled Clara from her thoughts. The sudden buzzing made her jump, but she calmed as she realized it was the radio which oddly enough, had remained untouched under the sink in the house. She wrinkled her brow, considering the distance between the medical center and here. Nevertheless, if she was going to die, she might as well make an attempt to do something other than sit around.
Cautiously going outside for the first time in a while, Clara attempted to find a calm state of mind. If she could harness that and remain calm throughout her journey, maybe she would be alright. Of course that didn’t last long, as a trio of zombies came out of nowhere, heading towards the unarmed Clara, not that she would have fought anyways. Run, her mind commanded, an her body obliged. Before the narcolepsy Clara had been a cross-country runner, and she could’ve easily outran the slower walkers behind her. But now, Clara could barely run a few meters before exhaustion would kick in, making her limbs feel like lead and her feet began to drag. She had completely slowed, the zombies gaining much ground. Her limbs grew heavier as did her eyelids, and Clara felt the unmistakable urge of sleep calling her name. Her eyes drifted shut, but a roar from the monsters begin her only furthered her sleep. It wasn’t a terrible way to go, being asleep. She might not even feel anything. Clara fell to the ground, fast asleep, not noticing the girl just a bit off who had jumped down from the tree.
