Sneaking up behind Negan was easier than expected, considering who he used to be. Trysta crept closer and closer to him until she was right behind him, reaching around to loosely wrap her arms around his neck and plant a soft kiss on his shoulder.

"Y'know, you should be more conscious of your surroundings. Someone could get the jump on you." She grinned at him, planting her chin against his shoulder. "Wouldn't want that now, would we?"

“Yep. No other reason. I betcha feel special now.” Shaking her head with a laugh, she leaned back and watched the fire for a moment. Trysta’s head nodded in agreement as she listened to Negan talk until he finished.

Scooting closer to him, she hummed, as though she were deep in thought. “No beating around the bush with you, is there?”

Trysta twirled a few strands of hair around her finger, taking another pause to make sure her words came out properly. “I didn’t want to say anything, because I didn’t want to ruin the friendship we had. It’s not like I’ve been super subtle, but.. you never said anythin’ and I wasn’t going to be the first one to bring it up.”

As she turned her head to give him a small smile, she shrugged her shoulders. “But if you’re tryin’ to ask me in a roundabout way, then yea. I do like ya’. More than you probably realize.”

Negan listened to her as she spoke, more than a bit surprised by some of her words. Of course, he had a feeling he was part of the reason she was still there, but to actually hear her say out loud he was the ONLY reason?

Well, that added a whole new level to the confidence he needed to ask the next question on his mind.

❝ God damn. No other reason, huh? ❞ A deep chuckle left him as he tossed another small wooden plank into the fire.

❝ Lemme ask you somethin' else, Trys. You and me? Safe to say we've become pretty damn close over the past few years. Hell, if we're bein' honest, you're probably one of the only people on this planet that can stand my ass, and I'm glad as shit for it, but--

I can't help but wonder if maybe there's somethin' more between us. ❞

"Y'know, you don't have to flatter me too. All you had to say was that you wanted me to say, and I woulda said yes to their offer."

Trysta leaned over and nudged him lightly with her shoulder. "You can throw me a one man house party when I fully move in, it'll be fun." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, her eyes flicking between him and the fire.

"I'm glad you want me to stay though. I probably would've said no otherwise. No other reason I'd stay."

She kicked a foot out and tossed some dust into the fire before tucking both her legs in to her chest. "Honestly, I wasn't even sure how to bring it up to you but you beat me to it in the end."

Negan's smile grew as she finished speaking. He was excited at the thought of her staying in Alexandria permanently. No longer having to wait months on end for her visits was a win.

And her being offered a proper house within Alexandria's walls was a good thing too, but Negan knew it would be quite some time before the settlement was fully repaired after the damage done by the Whisperers.

Hell, even Negan himself hadn't been offered a home within Alexandria. It was understandable, of course, ( even though he was PROMISED otherwise ) that they'd placed him in that abandoned cottage on the outskirts, but he would always remain hopeful his banishment would be lifted.

Trysta's eyes twinkled with mirth as she looked upon Sandor, taking a step back to give him the space he so clearly wanted. "I'm not after anything, ser. An urge just came upon me and I had to act upon it."

Truthfully, she didn't know what had come upon her. She'd seen him standing there, all tall and imposing, and she decided then and there that he deserved a peck on the cheek, for all his hard work. "Don't be so crass, your scars don't frighten me. You just happened to be facing in the opposite direction, and so what choice did I have but to kiss the other side, hm?"

She hadn't expected such a drastic response however, although she shouldn't have been too surprised. It wasn't too unladylike of her, or at least she hadn't thought so. Clearly he thought otherwise, or perhaps he just didn't want a kiss from her. "If I've offended you in some way, I do apologize. Truly."

Trysta's eyes widened, her smile almost frozen on her face. She hadn't thought he would notice, truthfully. Going back to the Kingdom was the last thing on her mind lately, and they'd offered her a permanent place in Alexandria if she'd wanted it. She hadn't agreed to it yet, but she was thinking about it for sure, especially when she had someone there that she enjoyed seeing.

"I never took you for so much of an overthinker, but I guess I learn somethin' new everyday." Pausing, she struggled for a moment to think of how to word her next sentence. "Well, see. The thing is.. I enjoy spending time in Alexandria, and I.. like spending time with you, especially." Trysta mumbled out the last bit, cheeks starting to turn red.

"And I haven't decided yet but they've offered me a proper house if I want it, and I'm really thinkin' about staying on a more.. permanent basis?" Looking back at the fire for a moment, eyes watching as it sparked up for a moment before going back to the calm little fire they'd had going. "Would you be opposed to that? If I were to stay?"

Negan knew what he wanted to ask, but it was difficult to find the right words. He went silent for a few long moments, ceasing his attention on the burning wood when he was finally satisfied with the size of the fire.

❝ Well-- it's been a little over two weeks that you've been in Alexandria. Now, don't get me wrong here, darlin', I am glad as shit you've stayed as long as you have, but usually? You take off after a couple of days.

So-- you know me, I'm dramatic as shit, right? I think and I think and I overthink, and hell-- I can't help but wonder what's got little Miss Trys stayin' for so long this time. ❞

"Flatterer." Walking over towards him, Trysta felt her face heat up and a tinge of red appeared on her cheeks. "You sure know how to make a girl feel good about herself, as always."

Eyeing him up and down, she made a small humming noise under her breath. "But really, I swear I see you chopping wood more often than the others, and it's gotta be because of the way you look doin' it. No other explanation."

She knew he really didn't need his ego boosted anymore than normal, but she just couldn't help herself. She'd managed to keep her mouth shut more often than not when she caught her eyes lingering too long but this time, the compliments just kept spilling out.

Negan stopped what he was doing to turn and look at her, admittedly a bit shocked that she was being so open with her compliments on his appearance.

His ego certainly didn't need any help when it came to his looks, but he'd gladly take her compliments.

They were inches away from each other, about to kiss, when someone suddenly crashed into Trysta, causing her to stumble. In a moment of awkwardness, she stumbled into Negan, but quickly regained her balance and playfully pressed against his chest, chuckling softly while looking up at him.

“Well... that’s embarrassing.” Giving him a sheepish grin, she lifted a hand to rub at the back of her neck, taking a step back to give him some space. “Honestly, no one watches where they’re goin’ around here.”
