A few days ago B wanted to learn to play checkers so we piled up in the floor and got busy playing. #Toffee didn't want to be left out, so she kept nudging up to B until she got attention. Toffee Update - It is 49 degrees F outside. Let Toffee out to pee. She went adventuring. Banged leg on the side of wooden bed frame trying to get to windows to close them. Both eyes now open. Windows closed. Yelled for Toffee for 5 minutes. Outside. She came back proud of herself. It's cold. Turned heat on. Back to bed for 15 minutes. It's Monday.

Hey guys. I know I haven't been posting for a while now, but we lost Choca last year. It was very hard for our family to lose such a beloved family member and it has taken a while to adjust. Toffee is still with us and has adjusted well to being a solo dog. One of our outside cats, Green Beans, has decided she likes being inside more and more so Toffee isn't completely alone! The two get along great which is a blessing. My daughter has also discovered a mama dog with three puppies hanging out around our house. She said the mama is very skinny and doesn't look well taken care of, although the puppies looked well to her. Mama growled at me from the darkness a couple of nights ago so I think she may have set up shop in an abandoned house next to us. We have been putting food out near the treeline and it is always cleaned when we go back to check it. Hopefully I'll have some updates on Mama and her babies soon!

Resting after a long day. Toffee's run broke so we headed to #petsmart for a new one. Its been a while since we got to go for a drive so I was excited for a little road trip time with her. This was her first trip to PetSmart and I thought she would love it. We get there, walk in, she steps off their rug at the entry way...and suddenly becomes a starfish. She face plants spread eagle on the floor and COULD NOT get up. I was mortified. I begged, I called, I whistled. She would take a step and then PLOP! She attempted a couple belly crawls and then decided it was far more fun to lick the children in the growing crowd who were now giving her love and pets. 😂 Today we learned that Toffee can't walk on slick floors. Her first PetSmart trip will also likely be her last. The Beasts are in trouble. Well, one of them. Storm rolling in and neither like storms so I decided they should get in a quick potty break. Choca gladly went outside. Toffee ignored me and rolled over. She then waited until I was enjoying a glass of wine on the porch to potty in the hall. 😡 I'm gonna need a second glass of wine.
