Love (part 2)
Just like in my review of âVincent van Gogh's Starry Over the Rhone," The passion, love, and acceptance about their scenery can make you realize that the peace in the quiet moments that life gives you can make you speak louder than some words ever can or will. Throughout looking at the paint, you get a warm, homey feeling, whether it's the lights reflecting off the water or the stars in the sky shining brightly above the loving couple, and they hold hands while taking their walk amongst the peace and quiet of the area that surrounds the couple, but it also reminds me that some good things donât last in the long run, which gives me a well-needed reality check. Itâs like when your boyfriend or lover makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world to them, but when they hurt you, like them cheating on you or flirting with other girls while in the relationship, It hurts more than words can describe. Nothing perfect can stay. It usually never does, whether itâs home life, school life, or just relationships in general. Nothing that good can stay. youâd most like becomes a down word spiral, and sometimes it might feel like those you're on a tight leash kind of like youâre their possession. just like when I made a post about âAiaca and Cassandra, made by Jago." The sculpture consists of a man and a woman, where you can obviously see that they are both in disarray, and the man is trying to force the woman to stay while the woman is held as she's trying to escape from this man's grasp. He looks as if heâs grabbing her out of possession rather than out of love. And my last example for my thesis is a poem by" A.E. Housman." The poem is about saying goodbye. And my takeaway from it was that the poem that this was directed to was meant as a goodbye forever and that once the relationship that they have ends, they wonât be in contact anymore, and that everyone deserves someone who puts in as much effort as the other half. Just like how my relationship went... He would say one thing, then act out and show something different, and then continue to say that he loved me so much, even though I didn't believe him. I still chose him over me. Even though I know I shouldn't, I just can't help it. Even though our relationship isnât what it used to be, I still want to try for us and him.

love (part 1)
Throughout my blog, I kept it consistent when it came down to love, possession, heartbreak, and saying goodbye. When discussing each of my topics, I tried to keep with the theme of falling in and out of love, whether it be a summer fling, or when I posted about my personal pictures and discussed the meaning behind my relationships, like I stated, âLove goes in and out; people change. I used an assortment of pictures throughout the relationship and talked about how love comes and goesâ. Throughout my whole relationship, at least on my side, there are always moments that make me forget, use, cherish, be proud, and be disappointed. And when I stated that love like flings is temporary, I instantly thought of my post about music and how it entailed a description of a song called "This Side of Paradise: Coyote Theory." I talked about how the song reminded me of teenage summer love when it stated, "Ask me why my hearts are inside my throat; I've never been in love; I've been alone.â which makes me feel like it was a summer fling of a first relationship throughout listening to that certain song in particular. Just like a honeymoon faze, when things are hot and heavy on the front end, and then when you get deeper into certain relationships, it makes you feel like that feeling is faded, and all there is is lust and for someone to just be there for you. But for other songs like âLaisserai des mots by Patrick Watson,â which depicts a classical love song that makes you feel like you're in Bridgerton with the hot steam love interest, and just for you to find over your betrothed to another of business and then secretly start to fall in love with the new guy, it starts to blossom into a relationship full of love, lust, and deep conversations. Like a couple dancing in their apartments with the light shining down on them, you just know that there is so much love and passion in the moment that it makes you feel like you're at home on a cold day, reading and bundled up in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa in your hand...

âA Minuteâ
Give me a minute.
Let me make room to breathe.
To be myself
To have a second
A momentÂ
Beyond all this stress to fit in
Let me have a minute.
Just a minute
To have privacy for myselfÂ
Under the stars
Just to breathe
To relieve myself from all this stress
Forgive me
For I must go.
To have a second
A momentÂ
For myselfÂ
My soul
And for this sceneryÂ
The visual I chose was Vincent Van Goghâs painting The Starry Night. The essential details I see in his beautiful piece of art are the stars, and the space where the painting was painted gives me the feeling of being up on a hill or on the roof of some sort. The painting gives off the feeling of being able to breathe, recollect myself, and come back to center with myself. I feel like if I were in this painting, I would soak up the scenery. I wouldn't be thinking about what happens next. I would just be content. My translation preserves the original by bringing attention to the stars and acknowledging the other pieces of scenery in my poem. My poem allows you to get a glimpse of how one can be stressed to be like everyone else, but the sky is constantly changing, which allows the scenery to engulf you in its beauty and comfort you. My poem requests a moment to take in the scenery. I wrote the poem about trying to escape from the pressure of the world and just being grateful for what youâre given, even if it's just a view thatâll be different every night going forward. So appreciate the little things, even if they are just a view. I took a more sad approach to the poem, but only The new understanding that my ekphrasis brings is: donât take the simple things for granted; there are those who'll never get to see or feel the way you feel.

Module 12
The video I have chosen is of a clothed man dropped into the water in slow motion as he stays still and allows his body to float to the top. I believe the important details are what he is wearing as well as how heâs not moving and just staying still. This scene is liberating due to the fact that it is out of the norm to just fall into the water fully dressed, and it communicates to me that the world can go quite in different directions, like going under the water. This video seems to state that being alone and taking your time to come up for air is normal. It's okay to take a moment for yourself. And when they come up for air, it's like they are going back to reality. I believe that the issue is mental instability. Itâs taking a critical stance. No, it didnât give me a new standpoint; it let me acknowledge it in a new way. The video suggests that silence can be peaceful. To my eye, the bubbles appealed, and the silence was perfect for this video; those were the only senses that were able to react. I believe it expands because it could be considered a short film or could be used in shows.
Bill Viola, AscensionLinks to an external site.: this 2000 piece by celebrated video artist, Bill Viola, is like many of his works, in being both deceptively simple and visually arresting.

ACT 1 SCENE 2
His soliloquy Hamlet questions his mother's decision to marry so quickly. He had felt betrayed and started to think his mother may have been disloyal to his father, the king.
Does the interpretation agree with yours?
Yes, the interpretation agrees with mine.
Does it seem to reveal anything about the scene that you hadnât experienced from reading it?
Well, when reading the script, I was a bit difficult to read, but when I pulled up someone else to read it out loud, I was jaw-dropped. I hadnât known that when the brother's death overtook the kingdom, the other king, due to the other king dying, King Claudius took the throne and suggested marrying the other dead king's wife, Gertrude. He tried to make it seem as though it was due to the fact that they needed to look strong in front of the other kingdom. When Prince Hamlet came home from school to mourn his father's death, the new king scolded him and told him to look at him as his father. The young prince was told to stay home rather than going back to school; he was so distraught not only about the death of his father but also about how his mother married his uncle.
How are the characters brought to life?
Throughout the scene, you can tell that Hamlet is distraught and his mother can tell their bond is shown when the mother suggests for Hamlet not to go back to school and Hamlet stays and obeys her. This shows a personal connection between mother and son. So when he senses her betrayal, you can tell that he not only lost his father but also his mother.
What kind of Hamlet do you get from this interpretation (bear in mind, interpretations of the character of Hamlet can range from indecisive and moody to insane, or even insanely clever)? Be sure and include an explanation for why you chose the scene you did.
I believe that the Hamlet I've read about in this scene is lost and depressed, and I'm hoping to find answers to the questions that he has come upon throughout his grieving over his father's death.
I chose this scene because this is when Hamlet starts to get an actual sense of what's actually happening around him and starts to grasp the fact that there may be foul play behind his father's death.

ArrivalÂ
It started with a linguist teacher who eventually after the spaceship landed she was hired by the US Army to understand how to interact with alien visitors to Earth before hostilities escalate into full blown war. It starts off pretty slow so far with telling the life and death of her daughter and then shows her at school, then home, then school again to only find out that sheâs alone in the school and then the army comes asking for her to translate and then leaves. So itâs just a really slow start at the start of the movie, the scenes make you feel like youâre in a sci-fi movie and you can feel the urgency and anticipation of the situations throughout the movie. This movie was set to be a dramatic effect of the movie due to the fact that the aliens literally told her the future and how her daughter died, holy crap that was a freaking twist and so basically the story of her daughter in the beginning is in the present, and the base of the story was in the past and the aliens helped the people come to get as one. Wow this was a great movie!Â
Lost in translationÂ
Lost in translation so far sucks. Super slow start between two different people between an old film star and a young girl that just married a guy and went to Tokyo and both of them feel isolated, alone and not where they want to be. During this one scene of the male actor having to sit in a chair and asked to be more mysterious you can tell the the set up they have. For this scene is pretty basic to the point where it kinda looks like an old man taking high school pictures. During the shot the male actor had a really hard time understanding what all of the directors were. The shots during this scene were made up between the actor and the director of the photo shoot. The cuts of this scene built up on creative suspense. This scene was comedic because they wanted him to be mysterious and for him to do so they wanted him to put his hand up to his face and hide half of it, which led him to look like a goth girl during the twilight series. The light of the scene doesnât really change the sceneâs overall tone whatsoever. But it only shows the fact that he was put in an uncomfortable situation and a new place without being fully prepared and lost.Â

"La JetĂŠe" by Chris Marker is an intriguing example of his a story of certain death, doomed operation, and existentialist themes. Its distinct style produces a dramatic and summarized story with an array of meanings in every picture. Along with adding a great deal of emotional depth, the duration left me with a distinct feeling of a tale from irregular film interactions.
The Godfather was a phenomenal film. Brutal, loyalty, family, vengeance, and moving forward. With Classic gunshots and punching visuals, the director amplifies the impact of the imagery in this movie. Throughout this movie I was always on edge and waiting for the next move and how they would handle the previous death.

The overall theme is love goes in and out and changes people.
1.Throughout my entire relationship with this guy shown weâve had our ups and downs. me and him have been dating since our sophomore year of high school and this photo th at is shown is the first of many hangouts that followed that day. This collect of photos are some of my favorite memories with him. On the day that photo was taken was when he asked me out and to be his girlfriend we had been talking for a while so I thought why not
2. This had been the first time that we had been away from each other for a long we amount of time because we were usually linked at the hip due to the fact that he lived right down the street from me. I loved every minute we got to spend together. But during the summer he left for 2 weeks like one does and went to pole vault camp and he had told me all about golfing, pole vault, and the new friends he made while he was away, he had told me that he believed it to be to long of a stay. He got home sick. But he had to stay up there cause no one was going to drive up there.
 3. This was at boca grand and me and him had. Gone with my family and had been enjoying our summer going into junior year and it was just lovely we tanned, kissed, read to one another, laughed, took photos and ate, looked for shark teeth in the water, and just had a bunch of fun.
4. This is one of my favorite memories with Colin. It happened in December before all the stress of school became overwhelming. We went to go see a movie. I don't remember what but I do remember that we got Chinese and put it into his backpack and got matching pjs. We had worn them into the movies and it was great! I felt so loved and cherished in those moments.
two other paragraphs with photos below
5.This photo was of my junior year prom! And at this point in time we had been together for one year and one months. And I couldnât have been more excited to be with him at my first prom our relationship wasnât a walk in the park but it was my relationship. He was my best friend at the time so all I really wanted was to go to prom with him cause you never know when your relationship is going to end. We had been getting into a lot of fights at the time and it was tough but we manged.Â
6. This was at a counting crow concert back in august of this year and Colin and I had been having a rough time throughout the past few months he started to talk to another girl while I was away at track and field camp and him doing so and becoming as friendly as he did with her caused him to lose if not all most of my trust. I didnât want to going to college together with him and this wasnât helping whatsoever. I felt that going to college when dating would be time consuming and going into senior year it has.Â

The theme of falling in love for the first time is my takeaway from this. I chose this song because this is the song Iâd choose if I were to dance with someone right before bed in a candlelit room with the love of my life. When I listen to this song, I feel the loneliness that life can bring, as well as the light that is brought by others, and that no one has to be lonely. Throughout the song, it says with an upbeat tone, âAsk me why my heartâs inside my throat; Iâve never been in love; Iâve been alone. This simply states to me that the person this song is about has yet to be in love, but they're starting to fall for someone, and they donât want them to be lonely like he had been. The dynamics of the song go from being soft, gentle, and nervous to being full of energy, happiness, and not a care of what anyone could think about them. The tempo and the melody are kind of like a roller coaster going up and down, as well as loud and happy, then shy and quiet. The emotions that the piece evokes are the nerves of a first relationship or having a crush on someone. As I explained earlier, you can feel the anticipation and nerves that the song develops. It's kind of like a should I do it kind of feeling and then doing it and feeling great about it. The piece's style contributes to the emotion by giving it a roller coaster feeling throughout the whole song.
https://open.spotify.com/track/3I09LQbHS3NSU46Ly3tPpR Feeling Good- Micheal BubleÂ
This jazz songâs theme is taking over and having control. I chose it because itâs jazz, and I've been listening to this song since I was little, and it always made me feel in control whenever it played. This song ties to the theme multiple times: âItâs a new dawn, it's a new day, itâs a new life. For me. And Iâm feeling good.â shows that he has control, that with each day passing by, heâs not going to take it for granted, and that he is in control of his life. The tempo of the song kind of gives off a villain coming from the top of the world, and nothing is going to push them down, and when the bass drops, it feels like itâs a forward, moving motion. The tempo is fast, but like a slow motion. The dynamic of the loudness eventually fading to softness, then resting, gives a great bass. The consonance of the song goes great together. The emotion that is invoked is kind of an anger rising within, and it communicates this through not only the way the words are being said but also how the music plays in the background.
https://open.spotify.com/track/7fBv7CLKzipRk6EC6TWHOB The Hills- The Weekend
For this electronic song, the theme is that he can only be himself with the girl heâs singing this song for, and doing so, he wants to get her out of the friend zone. I chose this place because this is the first piece of the weekend that I have ever listened to, and it made me feel pretty cool when I was little listening to it.When the song says, "I found out I was comingâ, you send your friends home. Keep trying to hide it, but your friends know.â This shows that she wants to hide him from her friends even though they already know, and she just doesnât want to be anything but hooking up with one another. The melody is quick and doesnât slow down; it only speeds up. The dynamics are as though one is speaking into a fan; it's a bit choppy but does its job and gets louder the more effort you put into it. Anger and agitation are the main emotions throughout the song. Through the beat and how aggressively the song comes out.
https://open.spotify.com/track/4wH4dJgrsxONID6KS2tDQM Maneater- Nelly Furtado
The theme of this hip-hop song is about a confident woman who understands where she stands in society. I chose this song because it makes me feel like I have to work super hard for the things I want out of life and for me to stand above the rest. The dynamic in which the song was played was a bouncy, soft bass beat throughout the song; the tempo of the song was fast, and it was consonant. The emotion that this piece pushed was an envy-me kind of vibe, full of confidence, and she knew where she was compared to everyone else. It communicates this by what she says, like, I want to see you all on your knees. You either want to be with me or be me.â I believe the emotion is more communicated through words this time than the beat.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0ZUo4YjG4saFnEJhdWp9Bt Before He Cheats- Carrie Underwood
The theme of this country song is about a girl who got cheated on and how she feels bad for the next girl, and she believes they should leave him before he cheats on them like he did her. I chose this song because I was cheated on during the summer, and I didnât leave the relationship, but the anger I have for what happened is still there. The melody's kind of repetitive, and the rhythm is kind of giving a here we go again. The tempo is pretty fast and repetitive. The dynamic of the whole song was that when she would get louder, the music behind her would get louder, making sure it was known how angry she was. This song was putting off the feeling of anger. The music rises with her as she expresses her anger towards him throughout the whole song. Not only the music in the background helped her express the anger she was feeling, but also how she sang the song.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0V5cvmTKsYmF5FmGGEAfmS Je te Laisserai des mots- Patrick WatsonÂ
This classical song's theme is that they are always there for the one they love, even when they donât see it. I chose this song because it makes me feel at peace and wrapped up in a little ball. The melody is soft and soothing; the tempo starts slow and slowly gathers to this big climax, releases, and starts all over again. The piece is to build up just to be pushed to restart again. They want love and someone to hold you and to just be there for you whenever you need them to be, and they just want to be there with you right by your side. It communicates this throughout the whole song as well as the music being played in the background.

Earlier this April, I started my day by getting ready and going to anatomy at 10:30. I left my house at 10 because it takes 30 minutes to get there. After anatomy, I went to the library to do some homework for my other classes in the meantime due to the fact that I had track practice at 2:30. So up until then, I had done all my homework that needed to be done. When I got to practice, it only lasted an hour or so. After practice, I went over to Ash's house, and from Ashâs house, I went back to the school to grab my boyfriend Colin. It was my first soccer practice on my new team, and due to Colin taking, I was in a huge rush to get to my soccer practice. That being said, I may have been speeding all the way from Punta Gorda to Fort Mayers. I had been tailgating, but I was keeping up with the speed around me. Which was about 100 miles per hour. Out of nowhere, I was pulled over by a cop car that looked like every other car on the highway. He pulled me over and asked me how old I was, how long I had been driving, and who taught me how to drive. I told him I was 17 and that I had been driving for about 6 months and that my brother was the one who taught me how to drive. He called my mother and father and told them what happened and asked if I stole this car, and they both said no and that I was in huge trouble when I got home. The officer let me go with a warning, and he told me to be careful and, next time, make sure I plan ahead with my schedule. After he left, I told my boyfriend to drive and that I would never want to drive again. So for the last few months, Colin was the one driving more than me, because I feel safer with him driving than me.

Written by A.E. Houseman
Shake hands, we shall never be friends, allâs over; I only vex you the more I try. Allâs wrong that ever Iâve done or said, And nought to help it in this dull head: Shake hands, hereâs luck, good-bye.But if you come to a road where danger Or guilt or anguish or shameâs to share, Be good to the lad that loves you true And the soul that was born to die for you, And whistle and Iâll be there.
In the first line, when it says, "Shake hands, we shall never be friends, allâs over,â it means we should say our last goodbyes because after we break up, weâll never be friends again, almost as if one of them had died and were unable to talk to the other metaphorically. For the second line, when it says, âI only vex you the more I try," it means that whenever I try to do something to please you, I only end up making you more furious. For the third line, when it says, âAllâs wrong that ever Iâve done or said," it means that whenever they try to do something, itâs wrong, and whenever they try to speak about anything, they feel that they are made out to be stupid and wrong for ever saying anything. For the fourth line, when it says, âAnd nought to help it in this dull head," that means why try to help, for all they have is this dull head of theirs? They are made to feel stupid so much that they only feel they have a stupid thought process in that head of theirs. For the fifth line, when it says, âShake hands, hereâs luck, good-bye," It means saying their farewells and giving each other luck, because that's all you can really do when you're saying goodbye to someone. In line six, it says, âBut if you come to a road where dangerâ simply means if you ever are in danger or in any kind of trouble down the line. And line seven continues with, âOr guilt or anguish or shameâs to share." Itâs basically what it says; no translation is needed. For line eight, when it says, âBe good to the lad that loves you true," That means treating the guy who loves you for you in every single way that he can with love and respect. And for line nine, when it says, âAnd the soul that was born to die for you," it means exactly what it says the translation needed. The last line when it says, "And whistle and Iâll be there," means if you ever need help, just call out for me, and Iâll come to you. The theme of the poem is losing the love that should never have been given. One of the connotations from this poem is, âI only vex you the more I try. Allâs wrong that whatever Iâve done or saidâ, it was connoting that whenever they try to help, they don't, or if they ever speak their mind, it's never right. The first sentence was a sign of denotation: âShake hands, we shall never be friends, allâs over,â stating right out of the gate that they will never be friends again and that this is goodbye. The central image of my poem is losing someone you took for granted. My poem uses both metaphors and symbols. The metaphors used were, âAnd the soul that was born to die for you.â Another metaphor used was " But if you come to a road where danger.â And the symbols being used were âdull headâ and âwhistle and Iâll be thereâ. I donât believe that there is consonance. But the narrator was the other half of the relationship and the one that was being belittled.

This domestic space serves its function particularly well due to the fact that the space isnât crowded by a bunch of neighbors like in an urban space. Yes this space is really homey and welcoming especially when those who find peace in the quiet areas or when they feel most welcomed by the silence that a domestic space serves. I feel welcomed
by the space because I grew up going down to the lake and being away from all problems in the world. This domestic structure isnât unwelcoming whatsoever unless those have a fear of being alone of course or not being able to see anything when you look out your big glass window. It does feel bright. The space inside the domestic architecture has an open and welcoming feeling to it when it comes down to a house as a full. Itâs not run down, it's actually quite modern, especially the open window and the beautiful view. If anything needs updated itâs the couches they should be fluffier. It doesnât feel remarkable though maybe the pace itself is like the area around the architecture.
So this space isnât exactly like mine at home but itâs a lot like my other space that I have at my house. The space's function is to give comfort and a place to relax. The interior is structured in an open like manner rather than a closed off and dark as well as secluded. Itâs similar to a light library or office like in Everything, Everything. Itâs similar to my domestic interior in the way that it's open and not just closed and itâs different in the way that the space currently shown has a couch in which I believe is way more comfier than the couch shown in the other photo. I prefer the one with the comfy couch and the interior design. For the other one because of where it's based. I need the interior to be nice and warm and cozy.

Aiace and Cassandra
Artists is Jago
The subject of the sculpture can be two things. You can see it as a man forcing a woman into his grasp, or you can see a woman whoâs emotional and a man trying to make sure she doesnât leave due to her being overdramatic. It looks as though heâs either holding on to her because he loves her so much or showing how easily a woman can be dominated. The sculpture captures love and dominance, whether itâs dominance over the heart or dominance in the possession of a being. The purpose of the sculpture was to show that the female body is compared to the male body, which is usually bigger than the female. Which makes it easier for a male to overtake the female's body whenever they might please. This sculpture can either show one who is using force to get one way or the long by one who needs the other but the other simply doesn't need them. This sculpture seems to say that love can be confused with possession. This sculpture simply says that it has been known for men to take advantage of women throughout time. The size of the sculpture is huge, and due to the colors and lighting in the room, it shows off excellent shadowing and lifts off the ground to where it is high above everyone else. The gray and white interior complements the shadows of the beautiful white sculpture. This artist moves his sculptures around and makes them all a bit gloomy.

Drawing for "The Card Game" Made BY Fernand Legar
Yes, this painting elicits the feeling of wanting to go somewhere, being creative, and trying to find a way out, kind of like you're trapped in a house of mirrors and you think that you're about to get out, but then you don't. And instead, you go down another wrong path one after the other, and you just keep bumping into objects like you know where you want to get but donât know how to get there. And the route you keep choosing is leading you down worse and worse paths, nowhere near the exit. Kind of like when you're in a bad relationship and you just donât know how to get out. This image defines a trap or a loophole, unable to get out even if one might desperately want to escape. The stairs, for instance, look like you're going to be able to get out when, in reality, it's a big, fat lie. It also reveals that taking the easy way out isnât always going to be the answer, and it surely doesnât mean that it is the answer for everything, but for the most difficult situations in life, it is. What drew me into this piece was the shadowing and shaping of the painting. You see, I like solving problems, and I want to become an architect when Iâm older. I just find these kinds of works of art stunning and almost mesmerizing to look at. The shadowing of this drawing makes me want to solve it and create my own 3-D model so I can make a puzzle myself.

Vincent Van Gogh Starry Night over the Rhone. This piece of art shows the tranquility and beauty behind hidden scenery. This piece provides comfort in taking the little things and cherishing them to their fullest just like this couple did. Theyâre enjoying the moment together unlike what happens in today's generation which is clouded with distractions. You can see with every beautiful stroke of this painting the hard work and the romance that was trying to be captured. The shine of the homes reflecting off the water makes me feel warm and welcome, like waking up in the middle of December to a heavenly blanket of snow outside or seeing a young couple sway and dance together in the light of an apartment building with such passion and joy much like the couple in the painting. The stars shine brightly above them making me smile wishing I could step foot into the painting. I have always wanted to go on a starry gazing date without any other intent behind it. Just like what was captured in the painting, I felt that the man was dedicating all of his time to her in this moment. You can just tell that this piece was supposed to be the embodiment of love and openness in a relationship. The smooth calming water below only adds a gentler touch to the piece. This painting may cause someone to contemplate their perspective of love and believe that this is the standard for genuine true love. The theme of this painting shows overwhelming loving, tranquility, contentment, warmth, and welcoming. Every inch of this painting shows the picture of love pooling up, over the glass, and overflowing into a puddle. This painting can make those who feel alone feel warmth, full of love, and welcome. Appreciate the little moments and the love that others give to you, and you wonât take anything for granted again.Â
