Cryptid of the Day: Mlularuka
Description: Africa has no shortage of giant bats, and Tanzania is no exception. The Mlularuka is described as being a fruit-eating bat the size of a dog. Its favorite fruits include pomegranates and mangos. Skeptics say the bat is a misidentified Lord Derby’s Scaly-Tailed Squirrel.

This is so rad, as a wig maker, my job dates back to around 3400 BCE.
i was thinking about this today so how long has YOUR JOB existed- not how long your industry has existed, but how long someone has been doing the work you do as a trade notwithstanding changes in terminology and technology. no unemployed option cuz i cant add more answers sorry... tell me about it in the tags

In honor of the newest episode of Monster Crush Pod, and also Tea Witch Autumn, I've been drinking a TON of Wolfman from @friday-tea! The orange-cinnamon combo howls fall to me, and the roasted green tea and marigolds give it that "running through the woods" vibe.
If you like talking about which monsters are the most smoochable, and also enjoy podcasts... You might enjoy this one.

Tea is ours, mold is from JOANN Fabrics, chocolate is from fellow Seattle area indie The Chocolate Man.

Off the coast of Australia Macroctopus caught the shark, wrapped all its tentacles around it and soon released it. Most likely, he scraped all the parasites off her.

I was just reminded of the time that I was working on Jersey Boys and I was talking to one of the actors who had been with the show for like... Seven years. This is important. There is a line in the show where Frankie Valli says "It's like the guy said, some are born great. Some have greatness thrust upon them. Some achieve greatness and then fuck it up". And the veteran actor backstage mused, "I wonder who the guy is?" And I just looked at him.
Shakespeare, my dude. "The guy" is Shakespeare. Frankie is misquoting Twelfth Night, that's the joke.
I then told the stage manager who had been with the show for a decade about this because, haha isn't it funny that this actor didn't know it's an iconic Shakespearean line and it was the SM's reaction to this information that made me realize that I was, in fact, a nerd even among theatre people.
