*Feroz Khan condoles death of students due to drowning* KARGIL AUGUST 03, 2020: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan has condoled the death of 2 students of Jawadiah Project Care Hostel of the educational wing of Anjuman e Jamiatul Ulema Isna Ashariya Kargil (AJUIAK) who drowned in Suru River near Stikchay village on Sunday evening. The bodies of the students were recovered by a team of District Police Kargil lead by SHO Meraj Giri near Sher Bagh Baroo this morning while the search operation was underway since yesterday evening by the teams of UT SDRF Ladakh, District Police Kargil and the volunteers of Baseej e Imam, IKMT Kargil and AJUIAK, Kargil. Feroz Khan for retaining NPHC Power Station Headquarter at Chutuk Seeks LG Ladakh’s intervention KARGIL AUGUST 03, 2020: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan has sought retention of the headquarter of the NHPC Power Station at Chutuk Kargil instead of clubbing with its headquarters at Basgo in Leh District as per an order issued by the NHPC authorities recently. In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur, the CEC while expressing serious concern over the decision of the NHPC authorities has stated that the Chutuk Hydel Project has been established by allotment of most valuable land by the villagers against commitments made by the NHPC authorities. Khan has said that the power station is a source of livelihood to many of the villagers whose ancestral lands have been allotted for its establishment and many locals have underwent physical disabilities in the process of putting up of this power project. The CEC has further stated that this unilateral decision of the NHPC authorities is not acceptable either to the people of Kargil or to the LAHDC Kargil and the commitments made by offices of high standing authorities like the then NHPC heads and the authorities of the erstwhile state of J&K ought to be respected and fulfilled by the concerned at all levels. CEC Khan has appealed the LG Ladakh to take up the matter with the concerned authorities of the NHPC on top priority basis. The CEC has further said that the local representatives of the area have already written to the LG in this regard and expressed optimism that an early action would be taken in the matter. On behalf of the general public of his constituency, he expressed the condolence to both the families of the deceased students, their relatives and villagers of Badgam and Karkitchu on this great loss and prayed the Almighty Allah to rest their souls in Jannat ul firdous. Councilor Baroo-Minjee Expressed strong resentment over clubbing of Power Station Headquarters: Councilor Baroo-Minjee Ghulam Mehdi Sheikh has strongly condemned the decision of clubbing the NHPC Power Station Chutak and Nimo Head Head Quarters. His reaction came after an order by the NHPC authorities to club the Headquarters of 44 MW Chutak along with 45 MW Nimoo Basgo Power Station which shall subsequently result in shifting the Kargil based Chutak Power Station Headquarters to Nimoo Basgoo. The councilor siad that this decision may result in losing jobs of tens of the local youth who are being employed since the inception of the project. Besides that it would be very difficult to access directly with the authorities of NHPC if the headquarters are shifted to Leh. The councilor further added that many local youth has become physically disable during their services in the project and the current move shall be a bad reward for them if implemented.He said that the government often comes up with gifts on the occasion of Eid to the employees, while this government has resorted to snatch the livelihood of small scale employees on the festive occasion. The councilor has also written a letter to the Chairman LAHDC Kargil and Deputy Commissioner Kargil regarding the same and demanded immediate intervention to revoke the decision. Mehdi has requested LG Ladakh, Advisor to LG, Commisioner Secretary PDD and Divisional Commisioner Ladakh to address this issue immediately so that the people of Kargil could get appropriate justice in a rationalised manner. He held that government would be wholly responsible if any kind of public anger comes on the fore in case the decision is implemented without review. 30 tested COVID-19 positive from Leh and 01 from Kargil. 14 patients cured and discharged. Active case rise to 277 One more death in Leh. Leh, July 30 As per the media bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Services UT Ladakh, informed that 02 patients from Covid hospital Leh and 05 patients of Facility Isolation at Leh and 07 patients of Home Isolation at Kargil were discharged today, after the negative sample report were received by CMO Leh and Kargil yesterday. The death count climbed 07; 04 in Leh district and 03 in Kargil district. With this, the number of COVID-19 active cases in UT Ladakh has risen to 277; 223 in Leh district and 54 in Kargil district and that the condition of all 277 active cases of COVID-19 in UT Ladakh is stable. Yesterday (CMO), Leh received 10 positive sample reports and 150 Negative sample reports and CMO Kargil received 01 positive sample report and 86 negative sample reports from PGIMER Chandigarh. CMO Leh received 20 positive sample reports from COVID Lab Chuchot Yokma. Today 80 samples were sent to PGIMER Chandigarh for testing by CMO Leh.
