Babies don’t forget there’s an Etsy boycott from April 11-18 to protest the higher service fees recently instated for shop owners despite the fact that the company reported record profits last year. Etsy is usually one of my go-tos but I am absolutely going to stay off for the week. Without its vendors (many of whom are independent artists/creators) Etsy is literally nothing, and if these new policies are undermining their ability to stay on the site without risking their financial stability then they 100% deserve our support. No Etsy this week!!!

Solidarity with all and any people fighting for their right to self determination and to live a life free of fear and persecution under occupation.
What Russia have been doing is horrendous and should be wholeheartedly condemned.
May this horrific situation awaken you to the horrors of imperialism and encourage you to fight for a world free of its stain wherever and whenever it appears.

Sometimes self care is going into a dissociative state at Target and impulse buying a new bathrobe
#except upon coming home i realized it totally made sense#I've had my old bathrobe for like 10 years and I was wearing it during a traumatic event#so my unconscious self was disgusted by it#thanks unconscious self for getting rid of that for me

“The wealthier countries with below replacement birth rates of about 1.9 per woman were responsible for 86% of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2018. The 9% of the global population with birth rates of around 4.6 were responsible for only 0.5% of global emissions in the same year. Clearly, the ecological impact of the high fertility poorest is negligible and Dasgupta’s obliquely suggested interventions into African fertility and social organisation would bring no discernible ecological benefits. Counterarguments hold that, regardless of low emissions per capita, the populous poor encroach on land and resources, accelerating Third World biodiversity loss. However, these arguments neglect to consider the vast and ever-expanding acreage dedicated to producing livestock feed, food crops, biofuels and similar commodities for export to high-consumption areas of the low-fertility First World. The blame for biodiversity loss lies with such commodity production and the capitalist system in which it is embedded, not the subsistence of the poorest communities.”

today im thinkin about how the british caused the famine that almost decimated the irish population entirely and then claimed they helped fix it by forcing the irish to work for pennies to try to buy their own food back from the british and not starve

HAPPENING NOW: An antiwar rally in Kiev, Ukraine, in front of the U.S. Embassy, February 9, 2022.
“The protesters demand from U.S. to stop interference in Ukraine and pushing it to war with Russia. I bet no West mainstream media covers anti-NATO protests in Ukraine (they report only about our far-right militants preparing to fight Russians, as far as I can see).”

something truly horrific about clicking an article about a national or global tragedy only for a pop up to say you only have 3 more free articles this month and then each paragraph of the piece is divided by picture ads for skin creams while a video of a car commercial plays automatically in the corner no matter how far you scroll

the way "lockdown" means "keep going to work but no seeing your friends allowed" instead of "stop working here's some UBI and free food and rent is suspended indefinitely as we employ highly-paid workers with proper PPE and unlimited PTO to work on massive infrastructural improvements to indoor ventilation systems across the country. all vaccine patents have been nullified btw"

Is there anything sadder than the little chunk of Kikis Delivery Service when Kiki says "I used to really like flying before it was my job" and then gets so burned out that her magic stops working and she cant talk to Jiji anymore and she tries so hard to FORCE the magic that she breaks her mothers broom and stays up all night, alone, trying to make a new one and crying?
And I know it is all ok in the end- Kiki has friends who look out for her and she takes care of herself and finds her place.
But fuck, those 20 minutes just hurt my heart so much.
