My best friend from college just got a job in Japan at a prestigious insurance underwriting firm. She is mainly a translator. When she got there, she was SHOCKED to discover her boss dictated not just that there was a dress code-all offices have a dress code-- but how very sexist this dress code is! She must wear skirts, above the knee, and high heels 2" or more, Stockings, no glasses and any new hair styles must be approved by her manager. But she is stuck there for at least a year. So yeah, it really sucks.

Let Me Talk About Werewolves for a Second

Why is it that every werewolf book is this weird testosterone fueled alpha male/female romance thing? 

Like guys. Werewolves are family groups. They are basically big ol’ dog families. Your werewolf family wouldn’t be made up of alpha males fighting each other for dominance and subjugating females. 

If there was a werewolf in your neighborhood, they’d be that family of 10 kids always roughhousing outside and their house is the one all the neighborhood kids go to hang out at because Mr. Werewolf and Mrs. Werewolf are the Cool Parents that their kids find really embarrassing.

I had a weird dream this morning after coffee and dozing back to sleep. I dreamed I was a waitress in a pop up restaurant in a scary part of town and it was packed. It was sort of a lucid dream so I decided in my dream in was being run by Yuma and Ruki Mukami. Next thing I know I am getting yelled at by Ruki the chef for being too slown delivering the next course. I am getting bit. I wake up to my crazy Siamese biting me wanting her breakfast.

the thing you need to realize about localization is that japanese and english are such vastly different languages that a straight translation is always going to be worse than the original script. nuance is going to be lost and, if you give a shit about your job, you should fill the gaps left with equivalent nuance in english. take ff6, my personal favorite localization of all time: in the original japanese cefca was memorable primarily for his manic, childish speaking style - but since english speaking styles arent nearly as expressive, woolsey adapted that by making the localized english kefka much more prone to making outright jokes. cefca/kefka is beloved in both regions as a result - hell, hes even more popular here

Here is something I don't get: Trans people who deny they ARE TRANS! There's a girl who works with me at WDW and it is very obvious she used to be a man. She is female now and everyone is cool with it. EXCEPT she pretends she has ALWAYS been female. She has gone as far as recreating her senior high school photos with current self and she freaking graduated in 1992! It is cringe worthy. And here is what makes me very angry...she talks badly about gay people and other trans folk! There are 2 gay men on our team, who behind their back she calls "unnatural". This makes me angry. But the part that has me reporting her to our supervisor is this: My new roomie is trans, female to male. I went to high school with him before I became home schooled but he was one of the few I remained in contact with. I am so happy to be living our dreams together. And this bitch had the nerve to say to me that my friend is just seeking attention and will regret messing "her" body up some day. I was so fucking shocked I didn't say a thing. But I filed a complaint. How? Why? And to top it off...this woman is a rabid Trump supporter. She is working in the wrong place.

An institution to raise outstanding “sorcerers”.

Night Raven College

A prestigious training institute for sorcerers, with a 4-year system. Only those whose magical qualities are accepted by the “Mirror of Darkness” can be admitted into the school.

Great Seven

According to legends in Twisted Wonderland, they’re “The greatest beings to ever exist in the world”. The students of Night Raven College looks up to them with admiration.

Dorms

Upon enrollment, students are sorted into dorms based on the qualities of their souls. The seven dorms are created based on the image of the Great Seven.

Heartslabyul Dorm

A dormitory created in the Queen of Hearts’ spirit of strictness. The dorm residents obey the laws made by the Queen of Hearts. Inspired by the worldview of “Alice in Wonderland”. 

Savanaclaw Dorm

A dormitory created in the King of Beasts’ spirit of fortitude. Many of the students in this dorm are good at sports and martial arts. Inspired by the worldview of “Lion King”.

Octavinelle Dorm

A dormitory created in the spirit of benevolence of the Sea Witch. The students run a cafe called the “Mostro Lounge”. Inspired by the worldview of “Little Mermaid”.

*) I don’t know if モストロ mosutoro is a reference to something else. “Mostro” means monster in Italian, but “toro” is fatty tuna usually used for sushi. I was thinking it could mean “splendid tuna” or something to that effect, but I’m not sure.

Scarabia Dorm

A dormitory created in the spirit of thoughtful deliberation of the Desert Magician. Many of the students in this dorm are resourceful and thoughtful planners. Inspired by the worldview of “Aladdin”.   

Pomefiore Dorm

A dormitory created in the Beautiful Queen’s spirit of endeavour. Many of the students in this dorm excel in potions and spellcasting, and they also have a distinct sense of beauty. Inspired by the worldview of “Snow White”.

Ignihyde Dorm

A dormitory created in the King of Underworld’s spirit of diligence. Their unique trait is that, other than magic, they also enthusiastically embrace the latest technology.  Inspired by the worldview of “Herculas”.  

Diasomnia Dorm

A dormitory created in the Witch of Thorn’s spirit of nobility. This is where the students who excel in all aspects of magic are gathered. Inspired by the worldview of “Sleeping Beauty”.
