Remember Leah’s story in Genesis 28-30? She was desperate to be loved by her husband, Jacob, and longed to gain his favor. She thought if she could just give him sons that she would win his heart and she would finally be wanted by him. In the end, she realized the one that she needed to please was God. The thing I have always loved about her story and what has encouraged me in my marriage is this: Jacob’s love was turned to her once she put her attention in the right place, on God, not her husband. I understand it can be scary to do this, especially when you struggle with control. The Holy Spirit is reminding me of my own moment when He asked me to surrender Bill to Him and surrender my need to control every detail (which I mistakenly thought would help me gain Bill’s heart again when I was fighting for our marriage). Once I did, Bill returned to me, in time, and eventually he received his salvation. Ladies, so many of you have connected with us personally over the years and your stories are incredible. I’ve not met a group of women this large before that has the desire to continue to fight like all of you have. I commend each of you. Your paths have been hard and honestly, some of them are gut wrenching. But you’ve stood with God and some of you continue to stand for your husband. Please know, whether your marriage was saved or not, God sees your faithfulness and He rewards you for that. For those who are still standing, I’m praying with you connecting my faith to yours for the redemption your husband and marriage. Nothing is to hard for God! We have to remind ourselves that Faith without Works is dead Faith. Works means we pray, we stand in Faith, and we yield to God as He instructs us concerning our walk with Him and our relationship with our husband. Again, your stories encourage me. So many of you are tenacious women. I pray you are encouraged this morning! You can’t come through the Fire with God without an level of elevation happening. Some of your mantles are going to get a little heavier with responsibility because you’ve overcame. You have proven you can be trusted with more. I celebrate all of you sweet ladies this morning and thank God for you. Though I’m sure your walk hasn’t been perfect ( mine hasn’t either ) you are running your race well.
