i know this is the gay sex website but i would love to hear ppls opinions. off tumblr every single star trek fan is like some kinda scandalized homophobe whenever i bring the possibility up

one of the best ways i’ve found to combat that inherent depressive pessimism without veering into toxic positivity territory is simply the phrase “i’m open to the possibility”
this particularly works with anything negative i’ve forecasted. “i woke up feeling like shit today, so my day is gonna suck” isn’t a particularly helpful thought, but “it’s a great day to be alive!!!!!” feels hollow and insincere when i have a pounding headache & am running on three hours of sleep
instead i’ll tell myself, “i really don’t feel good right now, but i’m open to the possibility that coffee and breakfast might perk me up a bit.” or “i’m in a lot of pain today, but i’m open to the possibility that my workday might still have fun parts despite that”
sometimes, when your impulse is to slam the door on anything good, but you’re not exactly up to going out & hunting it down yourself, leaving the door open just a crack makes all the difference

Day 183 - July start!
HALF THE YEAR COMPLETE!! and I've kept it up e v e r y d a y ????
July is going to look a bit different in my plans - I wanted to try so many different hobbies that I've decided to do a dual hobby-ing this month
I do want to keep at least one thing consistent, so every day I want to do a bit of yoga/meditation/mindfulness
i also want to do a bit of some secondary hobby for each week! first up is going to be learning some coding!
first day was a success but i really need to start doing these earlier in the day - i am mildly worried about falling asleep while meditating lol

Day 174 -
Three weeks in and I’m still struggling at some of the most basic exercises in my books 😰 I’ve got two scales that I can do backwards/forwards/opposing/similar 😌 and I’ve never realized how poorly I keep time while playing before 🫠
not bad, tho

Day 160 -
Okay, my project has continued every day but keeping a record of it has SLIPPED MAJORLY, oof. I didn't even announce what month June was! It is PIANO month, and I have.........realized that I have no memory of how to play piano, other than a handful of the keys.
So the first week has just been r e a l l y basic scales & warmups, and then today my partner sat with me and we did an hour of working on this one really basic etude :)
The strangest thing about this one is - piano has been absolutely flying by for me? I think these blocks of time have been the fastest to pass of all my hobbies so far (...except video games, actually, I think that's definitely the winner) - I'm not sure if that's because I'm hitting a flow state in just doing the same warmups over and over? But cool!

Day 152 - End of Dance month!
What a time and a half this month has been! I've had a lot of fun with learning all my fun kpop choreos - it all paid off for a few dances at the local Random Play Dance in my city a few days ago! I definitely want to incorporate this into my life more going forward :)
I put all the choreos I learned into a quick playlist so I could spend this last day doing them all on repeat and it's SO FUN, even when you aren't fully getting the choreo 100% right
I did realize going through that playlist that there's about 5 that I haven't actually internalized, and about 10 that I have, so I'll probably take those out of the playlist and then brush up on them before I add them back
Super fun hobby, A+ success story!

Day 142 -
Behind again on updates haha but I've still been doing my dancing!!
Other choreos I've learned in the interim:
Fromis_9's Love Bomb - spent a full 30-minutes on just learning those LO-OV-VE hands lmao
Nayeon's Pop - again, those HANDS took forever
A teensy tiny bit of IVE's Eleven
And then other than that, I've done some dance workouts & some Just Dance videos lol
Still fun! I'm thinking I'll look into an in-person class near the end of the month, so that should be extra fun!

Day 130 -
Dance updates:
Did a few days in April before my work trip & then got back into it once I was back! I've been doing mostly online kpop choreos but tonight I was so busy until like 10 that I decided to do sitting choreo designed for ppl with limited mobility to keep my neighbors from hearing my stompy footsteps that late
other choreo I've learned thus far includes (at least one chorus of):
GFriend's Mago
XG's Shooting Star
Red Velvet's Red Flavor (with my sibling!!)
Twice's Fancy
Mamamoo's Dingga
I...think that's it, so far?
