I haven’t seen a lot of posts that shed some positivity for non-binary Muslims who wear the hijab – I personally sometimes feel it’s frustrating that people see hijabi non-binary people as “female” just because the hijab is an obligation for women. My hijab does not define my gender; only my obligation to my God and my religion!
Shoutout to all non-binary hijabi Muslims out there; you are valid and Allah loves you, insya-Allah!

I completely love this! Thank you!
Mor Family hc
Well i promised @theheirofnightandday that i write down some Mor family hc a while back, first sorry that it took so long, well what happened was that i started it, than got busy, and than i forgot about it, ups…. i’m really sorry,
so here is a short (and uncompleted list (because my muse  said goodbye) list:
Since both Morena’s and Morpheus’ powers are very rare, Mor needed to consult not only Amren and Helion, but also like thousands of old books. But still most of their training was just trial and error, with a lot of help from Artemas.
Tho Mor found training with Morie a little easier, since her powers are just a step above glamour and simple illusions.
Morph wasn’t that easy for her. First his powers are related to daementi powers (which she doesn’t have) but also Morph must be actually sleeping to use his powers.
But somehow she managed
Morph somehow has grown into an actually really picky eater. Mor needed to learn several new recipes (and find restaurants who make them) just to get him to eat.
Morie eats almost anything. (As long as it tastes good and looks eatable)
After Mor adopted the twins she moved into a bigger house at the edge of velaris with a big backyard and walkable distance to her farm.
Morie and Morph refused to have separate rooms until they were ten. So they actually got the master bedroom for themselves at first
Mor brought them their favorite stuffed animals
Morie has a pink and purple butterfly named  Cyca
Morph has a blue and green dragonfly  named Koliada

how can white authors better pay tribute to Asian cultures (esp in modern aus) do you have any advice?
i do have advice, but i will put several disclaimers first:
these are my personal opinions, and in no way represent the opinions of asian people as a whole
while i am asian (specifically south asian), and i believe south asians are asians if i write about atla characters who are predominantly east asian i should still do research, because i am not east asian, and every single asian culture is distinct
i will also say that often when i do a modern au i make the characters asian-american, and while this in and of itself is not problematic, it is problematic when:
a) we only headcanon asian-american and not asian when we could do the latter, and we see that it is not done
b) they are ‘asian-american’ but there is no care taken to portray the asian-american experience as any different than the one that caucasian americans have
for point a), we have to realize that modern does not mean america it can mean: japan, singapore, or china--just to name a few places off the top of my head
that does not mean, to me, that setting an au in america is wrong, it’s not, and we’ll look at it in point b, you can, but i at least think it’s worth putting time to set it in an asian country, and i certainly can and should--especially considering that i have family sitting in singapore right now and living there for literally years who i could ask about what the vibe is over there
do your research to avoid racist stereotypes, from my perspective one of the best way to do this is to read real books from asian authors, it’s not super directly helpful here but My Tibetan Childhood by Naktsang Nulo is one book that really helped expand my mind, and is an example of one such book
for point b), say that you are setting in america, or the uk, i still think you can but in this case, you have to portray the asian diaspora experience authentically, asian kids don’t just land in america and assimilate complete, there are a whole set of cultural experiences here
there are a lot of asian-american fans of avatar the last airbender and i think it was really powerful for them to see people like them on screen, on an american tv show that was so popular, and i want them to feel comfortable including the diaspora experience when they write these characters
this means a lot of things, celebrating chinese new year as well as the typical ‘western’ new year, for desi jet, as i am desi, speaking a little gujarati, bhangra, but feeling a disconnect to your culture and struggling over having one foot in both worlds, feeling like you’re an outsider here and you don’t fit into the asian motherland either
tldr; don’t just go ‘asian-american’ and then make them just behave like americans, it’s not interchangeable and its not a short cut--like if you wanna tell the story of some diaspora kids, sure, but earn it, and pls pls pls start putting more modern aus in asian countries, respectfully

Hello!!
I normally don’t do this kind of posts, but this has been on my mind for a while now and I think it’s my duty to say something here.
Tumblr media
This is Cindy Kimberly. She is used as a face claim for many latinas, especially for Cristina Rosales. Even I have used her as a face claim for Cristina two times and I deeply apologize for this and the edits have been taken down for some time. No one has brought it to my attention; I was just talking with a friend about Cindy when I looked her up and actually saw her ethnicity:
Cindy is half-Spanish and half Indonesian. Cristina is Mexican, Cindy isn’t even a latina.
So, please, if you have ever made an edit with her as a latina, take it down. Even if you have reblogged one, take them all down. That’s what I did and that’s what everyone should do. And, of course, don’t use her in the future. We must admit our mistakes so that others won’t repeat them.
There are so many blogs where you can find good face claims, we just have to do our research. It’s our responsibility, no one else’s. POC are not interchangeable.
Again, I apologize for using Cindy as Cristina in the past. I don’t have any excuse, I should have done my research before. I know better now and I hope this post will help other editors too.

Lmao imagine yelling at fans of color who are discussing fandom racism and how it dimishes their fandom experience that “fandom is supposed to be fun and you’re ruining it for the rest of us” the absolute Caucasity. Newsflash: fandom IS supposed to be fun and when y’all are racist and micro-or-macro-aggressing us, WE CAN’T ENJOY IT. Also imagine admitting that you can’t enjoy fandom if you can’t be racist asdfghjkl can’t relate.

thomas jefferson and sally hemings did not have a forbidden romance as many historians like to say. sallywas thomas’s child sex slave and it’s time that people know the truth about our founding fathers.

The whole self love thing is good and all but some people can’t fathom being loved. They can’t imagine there being anything good about them. So they can’t simply just stop doing unhealthy things, there’s a process.

yo I just fell into the a/n/ti/-s/jm side of tumblr for like 20 minutes
(Sorry, I don’t know where the slashes go, but I would hate to see your anti-shit end up in the sjm results, so thanks for it)
And they are some salty bitches.
Like, we get it, you don’t like the books. You think they’re problematic, even though Sarah has taken the criticisms about race, sexual orientation, diversity, sexual abuse, world building, etc, and developed her worlds and characters.
You absolutely have the right to shit on something you don’t like, even though you could be doing something productive with your time
You could try running a blog about something you actually LIKE
(Or writing your own stories since clearly you’re all the authorities on non-problematic stories now)
But this shit is rude:
Tumblr media
I’m a 26 year old stan. These books saved my fucking life and I’ll probably read them until the day I die.
Don’t fucking look down on people for liking something. Makes you look like a fucking asshole, but when you are one, I guess you don’t need much help.
LET PEOPLE LIKE THE THINGS THEY LIKE
LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS
God, now I’m just pissed now. I’m going to bed.

Respect to Portland:

This is all from yesterday evening (7/18/20). Don’t let anyone think the BLM protests have died down or aren’t well-attended anymore. Thousands of people are still gathering on the streets in many cities to demand abolition of the police and accountability for victims of state-sanctioned murders.
