Our co-showrunner @yahlinchang’s episodes have always been my favourite. To me, her scripts best embody the essence of Margaret’s original text. Even the stage directions lead with wit, weight and poetry. But it’s her willingness to walk female characters, particularly female characters, directly into the fire. No sugar coating. No apologizing. Her ability to continuously remind me of my own devastating feminine power is what makes her such a quiet badass. Don’t fire me for posting work stuff MGM, it’s the final season and she deserves all the flowers. Y’all are going to Lose. Your. Minds. (Also an appreciation post is waiting in the wings for our other mighty co-showrunner, @erictuchman. I have public things to say about you too, Eric. xo)

During the chat, the conversation turned to Strahovski’s other hit series, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which is currently filming its final season now. Strahovski talked about the journey of inhabiting the often challenging character, Serena Joy Waterford. 

“Initially, it was new territory for me. I found it really hard at times to justify her position in life and just in the scenes in general, and I spent a lot of time sitting with that,” Strahovski admitted. “And, you know, obviously, as the years went by, it got easier and easier, and now I know her so well that it’s just sort of an automatic process. But, yeah, it’s definitely bittersweet [to say goodbye]. I think it’s definitely time to say goodbye, and I’m excited to put her away, make space for the new things that are around the corner, and just energetically, maybe let go of Serena."

“I’m never sitting in her space, but you inevitably—you’re carrying a character, so you’re visiting that space often,” Strahovski continued. “So I think that will feel very liberating and lovely and like a new beginning. But obviously, it will be very emotional for me to say goodbye to her also because it feels like a breakup with a friend.”

 In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb to promote her new horror thriller Teacup, Strahovski had plenty to say about working with Elisabeth Moss on the hit show’s last hoorah, noting:

“We've just begun shooting our last season, so we're deep in it here in Toronto. You know, she's [Elisabeth Moss] directing, so it's always really easy, I think, when she's directing because we all have a short end, and we all know each other so well.”

We had to ask about other plot details, too, but the actress was quick to offer: “It’s hard to talk about it because I don’t want to give anything away, but we certainly spent a lot of time on it. My first two weeks were intense, I'll say that much. Intense — you know, as one would expect from The Handmaid's Tale.”
