Found your purpose? - No?
I am getting distracted all the time and losing this sense of time. Sometimes we get lost in our responsibilities. Inspired by Simon Sinek’s ideas I have to say - Start with “WHY” and I agree with this.  What do you do in your daily life? You probably know what you do, either it is work or studies.  You probably even know how you do things in your life. But why do you do what you do? Start there and then go back to “how” and “what”

How to Make an Experience Addictive
Addiction, in this modern age of technology? - It is everywhere. Just watched a video by Adam Alter. Very great insight on what creates addiction. He mentioned technology leaders, who do not let their kids use tablets, just because they are so addictive. Or a game developer who would not play the most popular RPG (role playing game), just because it is the most addictive game in the world. It would take too much time.
People like feedback. Reddit did this by introducing the audience by giving them a button to push. The timer on the button was 60 seconds and it would restart anytime somebody would push it. The closer to the 0 you get, the better badge you would get. And this is the same principle that creates addiction.
Goals. Have you ever ran a marathon? Turns out, goals are essential into driving behavior. It turns out that most like to run a marathon at a certain time, for example, under 4 minutes. so the most people would finish it ar 3:59, even though the difference is not that big. Hipstamatic and Instagram - two almost similar companies, with the same product. the difference - Instagram made it go social, because social approval is much more addicting, and humans seek feedback. It is more engaging.

Easy to Swallow?
My sister, Paula, and her husband, Chris, had just finished tucking their young ones into bed one evening when they heard crying coming from the children's room. Rushing in, they found Tommy crying hysterically.
He had accidentally swallowed a 5p piece and was sure he was going to die. No amount of talking could change his mind. Trying to calm him, Chris palmed a 5p coin that he happened to have in his pocket and pretended to remove it from Tommy's ear.  Tommy, naturally, was delighted. In a flash, he snatched it from his father's hand, swallowed it and demanded cheerfully - 'Do it again, Dad!'

IDIOTS AT WORK
I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the clerk noticed I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete the transaction unless the card was signed. When I asked why she explained that it was necessary to compare the signature I had just signed the receipt. So I  signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared the signature to the one I had just signed the receipt. As luck would have it, they matched.

The large wooden door slammed shut. It was an old but warm brick house, with a beautiful bower in front of it. From one side there were grapes, form the other - blossom of flowers. She walked fast to her old beaten ford with her brown boots.  He ran after her through the door. He stopped…   D: Jenny, wait!   J: I can’t, it’s over! She got into her old, beaten Ford and drove off. He reached in his back pocket, there was a letter...
#to be continued..
If you are reading this, suggest me the next part: 1) He reads the letter.. 2) He rips the letter.. 3) She turns on the radio..

How Casey makes his vlogs?
Foundational principles
1) most important The story (rule:setup conflict, resolution) core of well told story.
2)it is hard to watch shaky shots, so Casey tries to use equal amount of hand held and stationary shots
Establishing (wide shots let the viewer know where the actor is, more feels like you are there)
had held shots - a great way to feel the spontaneity and urgency of the scene.
Always try to use the best of what you have access to.
Hold the shot steady. Do not make it shaky.
Nobody cares for timelapse and drone shots. But it is an effective tool to switch scenes or show a broader view of the place and what is going on.
If that does not have even just a little bit of a connection with the story, it gets boring fast.
How to make somebody care?

Right in the middle
Today I participated in a focus group interview.
The main questions were: what makes you buy? What affects your choice?
One of leading supermarkets in Latvia is worried about a rival company joining the market and snatching the business out of their arms.
What we discussed is that our habits and the location defines where we go shopping. A wider variety of choice plays an important role. We like to feel as if we have the freedom of choice.
What I noticed is that people really care for the quality. The problem is that each of us has a different method on how we decide which product is of the higher quality.
So there must be a way to convince people that one thing is better than another.
One thing is clear though - we do not want to buy the cheapest thing, unless we struggle with money. And we do not want to overpay unless we have a genuine reason to do so.
This reminds me of an example:
A guy wants to buy headphones in electronics store and is not so sure about the specifics. The salesman presents him the two best options in his price range. Of those two the salesman suggests the least expensive one saying that it is much better. The customer goes home happy as he has not spent too much but still got the best for the price. This is how the salesman has built trust. Next time the client comes, the salesmen might suggest a more expensive option, and the customer would be more willing to trust his judgment.

Continuous shot
An idea delivered in just one shot. I like this example in the way that it is done. If the idea was to picture diversity, contrasts between and arts itself, then the goal here is achieved.
youtube
This is what the description says:
...explore the four corners of culture. ...the hidden gems from big and small screen, uncover the finest of all the artists, and discover who influenced who and how across the arts.
Note that no words were used to enhance the scenes up until the end, but you can sense the main thought anyway.

Rhetoric questions
Is there life on mars?
What is the answer to success?
Will you ever finish that assignment?
Just saw a short video on facebook from one public speaker in Latvia - Ugis Krumins. He shared the idea of using rhetoric questions in the beginning, to get more attention. To get more engagement he also asked what kind of tactics would others use. One guy in the comments said an interesting idea that you could start your speech behind the last row of seats. That would surely raise an interest, like a rhetoric question that might get answered.
Geico uses rhetoric questions in their ads. Check the vid.

The great big book of personal productivity
Preperation for the crative process
Even if you have to write just one article or a story, there are three tasks involved.
First, you have to become an objective reporter and gather the necessary information, statistics, opinions regarding the subject. You should do a thorough investigation through movies, newspapers, books and many more.
Second, you have to become a detective, you have to sort out what is necessary and what is not and how to get to the bottom of things.
Third, become an author to share the experience. Sort the information in the best perceivable way and guide your auditory through the journey.

The clues to a great story
A tourist is backpacking through the highlands of Scotland and he stops at a pub to get a drink and the only people there is the bartender and an old man nursing a beer.
He orders a pint, they sit in a silence and suddenly the old man turns to him and goes:
- “You see this bar?” “I Built this bar with my bare hands from the finest wood in the county. Gave it more love and care than my own child, but do they call me McGregor the bar builder? No.”
points out the window
- “You see that stone wall out there?” “I built that stone wall with my bare hands. Found every stone, placed the,m just so through the rain and the cold, but do they call me McGregor the stone wall builder? No.”
points out the other window
- “You see that pier on the lake out there?” “I built that pier with my bare hands. Drove the pilings against the tide of the sand, plank by plank, but do they call me McGregor the pier builder? No.” “But you fuck one goat...“

Slide presentations
Do not start if you do not have the full attention of the audience.
Go easy on the slides. Nobody wants to read that long text.
Use pictures, few headings.
A couple of of bulletins.
Throw a witty remark or a joke related to the subject. You can definitely find one on the internet.
Explain as simple as you can.

Prank fame
If you are reading this you have probably seen some...
Prank videos get really popular and are watched all over the world. But why?
It is one of the most common examples of arousing interest. A human being is curious and when we watch a prank video it’s a story in itself. We want to know what would happen if the prankster does what most of us would not normally do. And we are just as interested in what the reaction of the prank victim would be.
A sense of danger and unexpected outcome raises our interest to watch and have some kind of reaction ourselves.
Here is a video of a popular prankster - VitalyzdTv
