My obsession for the first half of this year was music that sounds like it’s from the 80s but it’s new. This album is that and so much more. I don’t know if it’s nostalgia or what, but it’s incredible.

Really nice to hear the Shins back with new, good music. Fun Fact: We met Eric Johnson of the Fruit bats this summer, and figured out he was a part of the Shins when we saw them live in 2009.

#12: LCD Soundsystem - American Dream

When I first heard the singles off of this album I wasn’t impressed. I was annoyed LCD came back after making such a big deal about going away. But after a few listens this one grew on me. And the album as a whole is on par with the others. James Murphy is that man, what can I say?

#15: Greta Van Fleet - From the Fires uhhh....Led Zeppelin anyone? Holy crap. When I first heard this band I thought I had stumbled upon some unreleased Zeppelin tracks. This singer has channeled his inner Robert Plant in a MAJOR way. Upon further listening, the skill level on the instruments isn't quite up to par with Zeppelin. No offense to GVF but we are talking about Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones here, 2 of the greatest guitarists/bassists of all time. Plus their sound is a bit more blues than Zeppelin. But enough with the comparisons. This is a really refreshing rock album. You definitely don't hear music like this that much anymore. I dig it.

It took me awhile to get into this album. I almost didn’t even include it on my top 20 list. It’s a solid album but nothing about it jumped out to be as being special. But it’s one of those that the more you listen the more it grows on you.

#17 Langhorne Slim - Lost at Last Vol. 1

I still have The Spirit Moves (2015) on heavy rotation. Its a quick listen, the longest song is 3:39. It’s short and sweet and to the point. And that point is, that during these crazy times its difficult to truly connect with others. A lot of people spend too much time searching for everything they don’t have, and forget what they do have. So take a moment to kick back and appreciate your life, and give this record a spin.
