King The Land is definitely not perfect by any stretch, but one thing is does right is allow the couple to be happy! Normally k-dramas wait until episode 8 for the kiss and by 9 or 10 they are broken up or torn apart.
King the Land gives us lots of dates, hugging, COMMUNICATION and just solid fluff! Maybe they’ll break up or be sad in the next episode, but 3-4 solid episodes of flirting and cuteness?
THANK YOU DRAMA WRITERS!
#all of this#ktl is a breath of fresh air on kdrama land#yes it's built on a bunch of cliches but each one is done a little differently#and that makes a whole big difference#it's on the details#king the land#kdramas

I will always advocate for every queer person's right to be a fully autonomous sexual being-and that always must and always will include asexuals. Recognizing the significance of queer sex should not mean that every queer person should be mandated to meet an arbitrary sexual prerequisite in order for their queerness to be affirmed. Centering queerness around sex leaves very little room for queer folks for whom sex is insignificant, or for whom sex is never or rarely possible, or for queer folks who have never had sex before, or for queer folks whose only sexual experiences have been violent. It also leaves a lot of queer people, especially young ones, feeling pressured to have a certain amount or certain type of sex in order to legitimate or prove their queerness to themselves or to someone else.
-Sherronda J. Brown, Refusing compulsory sexuality: A Black Asexual Lens on Our Sex-Obsessed Culture
#I would also like to add#sexuality is not performative#we were born like this#we don't need to tick boxes to be able to say we are whom we have always been#wish more people would know this

A note to all creatives:
Right now, you have to be a team player. You cannot complain about AI being used to fuck over your industry and then turn around and use it on somebody else’s industry.
No AI book covers. No making funny little videos using deepfakes to make an actor say stuff they never did. No AI translation of your book. No AI audiobooks. No AI generated moodboards or fancasts or any of that shit. No feeding someone else’s unfinished work into Chat GPT “because you just want to know how it ends*” (what the fuck is wrong with you?). No playing around with AI generated 3D assets you can’t ascertain the origin of. None of it. And stop using AI filters on your selfies or ESPECIALLY using AI on somebody else’s photo or artwork.
We are at a crossroad and at a time of historically shitty conditions for working artists across ALL creative fields, and we gotta stick together. And you know what? Not only is standing up for other artists against exploitation and theft the morally correct thing to do, it’s also the professionally smartest thing to do, too. Because the corporations will fuck you over too, and then they do it’s your peers that will hold you up. And we have a long memory.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking “your peers” are only the people in your own industry. Writers can’t succeed without artists, editors, translators, etc making their books a reality. Illustrators depend on writers and editors for work. Video creators co-exist with voice actors and animators and people who do 3D rendering etc. If you piss off everyone else but the ones who do the exact same job you do, congratulations! You’ve just sunk your career.
Always remember: the artists who succeed in this career path, the ones who get hired or are sought after for commissions or collaboration, they aren’t the super talented “fuck you I got mine” types. They’re the one who show up to do the work and are easy to get along with.
And they especially are not scabs.
*that’s not even how it ends that’s a statistically likely and creatively boring way for it to end. Why would you even want to read that.
#support artists#no AI#we need to protect creative jobs and people that are out there CREATING STUFF#it's not a one time thing#we need to be serious about it#no exception as to why AI is good for artists whatsoever#we need to make a stance

I see Hollywood is now very into the idea of buying something once and then owning it forever and being able to make infinite copies. Which. Isn’t quite the message they imparted upon me in my childhood. In the spirit of their own long-held stance:

“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972

Imagine actually being so evil that you'd rather make sure your writers suffer financially instead of just paying them the pay they deserve. Hell truly has some seats reserved already, holy shit.

Things that were taken from Annabeth in the Heroes of Olympus:
Percy
her invisibility cap, a crucial part of her fighting style
the dagger that Luke gave her, the weapon that ended the Titan War
Daedalus' laptop, an expansive resource of knowledge and ideas that could have rivaled the library of Alexandria
Three of these were gifts from people she looked up to. Every single item she was given held within it the esteem and the love and the trust and the hope and the respect that made them more than just items. They were physical representations of the fact that she mattered to someone, and they were ripped from her hands.
She's never been the one with insane powers, the one who can command attention and respect just by existing. She had to prove to people that she was capable and strong and wise and all the rest, just to prove to herself that she was worth seeing. And having the attention that was given her in the form of gifts be taken away... it would feel like being cut from a tether and left to drift. And not only that, but those items were also the things that gave her something like powers. She learned to wield them, knew exactly how to plan an attack using the resources that had become like extra limbs to her. And then she's left with nothing. She has to learn how to build up a reservoir of plans and strategies again that don't involve those tools. And of course she can do it, of course she's going to, but damn if it doesn't hurt like hell to see everything slip from her grasp in such a way.
And maybe they were crutches, and she's ready and confident enough to step out on her own without that idea of support.. but as prideful as Annabeth can be, wisdom is about using the tools you were given, not necessarily about making your own. It's about knowing when to trust others and let them help you, even if they're just the ghosts of others that have been left in the items they gave you.
Which brings me back to the first thing that was taken from her: Percy. Percy who, alone among the things she lost, has free will, who not only saw her, but refused to stop looking at her. Percy, who could almost have been a gift himself to little Annabeth who was just dying to go on a quest. Percy, who, when everything else was slipping away, held on tighter, who would never let her be all on her own again.
