So it’s been a hot minute, huh?
In truth, I've had this half-written for over a year, but I just lost the will to carry it on- convinced myself it was an irredeemably terrible fic and that was that.
With any luck I’ll be able to start banging out chapters again pretty soon, and I can only apologise for the hiatus.

This was part of a longer post on my personal blog, but I kind of felt like it belonged over here…

Magic is it’s own beast.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! This chapter just didn’t want to be written, and try as I might I couldn’t force it. But we got there in the end, and I can only offer my apologies for the delay.

It is at once the most real thing Will has ever seen, and yet something from a dream, a grand house and yet also a ramshackle, broken down ruin. Like a dual layer of film, two visions press one atop the other. In all honesty, Will isn’t sure any more which vision to believe.
Will Graham is a lonely fisherman eking out an existence on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere-punishment perhaps for the things he has done. But that all changes when a cry from the woods leads him to the castle in the trees, where a whole new set of rules apply. Surrounded by old friends and new, maybe he'll finally be able to forgive himself after all. But just who is the master of the house, and why can none of them leave?
The second chapter has just gone live! This is a particularly long slow-burn I have been writing on and off for somewhere close to two years now. It’s somewhat of a beauty and the beast fusion, with a very healthy dose of the shows own inspired mythology. And I promise, Will and Hannibal will meet, just not quite yet.

one of the best things about making friends with people who read your fics isn’t just that they usually review, it’s the energy for your writing they have, the way they hang on even your maddest ideas and help you refine them or just help you stretch your mind a little with “what if” back-and-forths
y’all are great

Chapter 6: Don’t Carry It All
An interruption, a revelation, a forgiveness.
A trauma can only go so long unaddressed, and misery loves company.

Chapter 5: Of Angels and Angles
A dinner party, a revelation, but the darkness hounds them still. One can never quite escape who they truly are, no matter how much they wish it.
I am so unbelievably sorry for how long it has taken me to upload this chapter. Job hunting turned swiftly into having a job and the time and energy just were not there. But alas, here we are and I hope you enjoy it enough to make up for the wait.

Oh wow! This is amazing, I am honoured! Truly this is so beautiful and it means the world to me that you like As I Rise enough to create this. From the bottom of my heart thank you!

A sketch for one of my favorite scenes in @thegeeklordwrites ’s amazing gravebone fanfiction As I Rise. (Please go read it, if you haven’t already. it’s probably my fav fic in the ship. it’s really great for exploring the traumas of post-Grindle Graves.)
I was gonna shade the whole background black, but I couldn’tfind the patience to finish it, lol. I might make a better digital drawing for the fic if I ever find the time and energy. I hope you enjoyed!

They silence out voices, but the cannot, will not, silence our hearts. They say the world is mourning, but they do not suffer as we do. These are our brothers and sisters, our community, our family, And still you try to quiet us. Tame us. Tell us “It’s everyone’s pain” When our backs are breaking with the weight of our grief.
You Kill us in your media for “dramatic effect”, you play us as a punchline, Laugh as our tears fall, and we cry out to please stop. This isn’t fiction, this is our reality.
“But it’s not just you” you explain to us, condescension pouring from mouths like festering wounds, “We have no control over the narrative” as you wash yourself free of your sins. And still you say you pray for us? You take away our safe spaces, beat us, mock us, marginalise us And then have the audacity to pretend innocence?
I want to scream at you, I want to show you how we are hurting but the words turn to ash in my mouth. You don’t want to understand, you want a pat on the back for playing your part, A badge of honour to show how special you are, whilst your insincerity oozes from every pore. We hear you. We see you. And we have had enough.
You killed our kindness with massacres you claim to feel the full injustice of, You strip away our patience with every death you hold up to us like a grand prize for inclusion. You burn away our tolerance with every “no homo”, every piece of bait you dangle before us And snatch away before our stretched, starving fingers can reach. We have had enough.
We will fight back, not with the war you try to advocate, but with our hearts. We will love each other as we always have. We will be here for each other in a way you never can. You can try to silence our voices, But you can Never silence our hearts.

As I Rise
Hospitalised for recovery, put on medical leave, and released back into the wizarding world to be left on the doorstep with a name too large, clothes too small, and a crutch he would be reliant on for the rest of his days; Graves, it seems, is to reacquaint himself with his life alone. To find his way towards being well enough to return to work when in truth he died in that infernal place, and all that is left is dust, bones and the echo of what once was. So he refuses.
Living in a non-magical apartment, recovering on his own without even his magic, he discovers friendship can blossom between the most unlikely of people. But a killer is on the lose, and MACUSA say it's none of their concern. Magic or no magic, they could be coming for anyone.
The first chapter of my new fic is up! It’s a glacially slow burn as Graves and Credence try and help each other heal from their trauma, with the help of a few friends they make along the way.
