There's also a book explaining this at my local library, aptly named "Sex" but with no visible author smh. But it essentially goes through and explains the psychological processes behind some kinks and I can say with certainty that every single one DID boil down to those things!! Even kinks that made me personally kind of recoil I read about and was like:

"huh, people really do just wish to be loved no matter what." "Huh, people really do just want to feel safe even when vulnerable." "Huh, people really just do want a safe environment to be in control and explore things."

And honestly understanding this was really helpful in trying to break down that learned idea of "sex is just this one thing and anything deviating from that is shameful and disgusting." BECAUSE ITS NOT. And once you realise that that thinking is bullshit, not only do you open yourself up to self exploration, but you begin to break down judgements of others.
