Tom Waits in <i>Inque</i> magazine

The very first issue of Inque magazine carries a poem by Tom Waits, titled What saved me from drowning. 

Inque is an annual literary magazine, without advertising or a web version, that will only ever publish 10 issues and then cease to exist. The magazine (340x245 mm, 232 pages) is printed in a limited edition of 6,000 copies and sells at £55.

Tom Waits stars long side Bradley Cooper, Skyler Gisondo, Sean Penn, John C. Reilly and Alana Haim in the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson movie Licorice Pizza. US release date is November 26, according to IMBD. 

He also is listed as one of the actors in the Marco Perego Saldana movie Keyhole Garden, which is now in post production.

Looking for that ‘70s show

Based on various sites and resources and with the help of other fans (you know who you are!), I’ve tried to compile a list of Tom Waits shows. Although we’ve got over a thousand shows, the list probably isn’t complete and might contain some mistakes. 

So, I’m looking for help. If you have information about a live performance from the ‘70s that’s not on the list or have some sort of proof of a date (a ticket stub, news paper clipping, review, flyer, poster, …) of a show that is marked ‘unconfirmed’, please do let us know at waitsconcerts@gmail.com.

Southside Johnny's 'Grapefruit moon: the songs of Tom Waits' remastered

 Southside Johnny and Pacific Records are releasing a remastered version of SSJ's album Grapefruit moon: the songs of Tom Waits. This remastered version will include a previously unreleased bonus track, Straight to the top. 

Grapefruit Moon: The Songs of Tom Waits Remastered  is slated for digital release on March 12th, with both CD and vinyl formats thereafter.

Dutch Dogs list back online

 The Dutch Dogs list has been off line for a while, but is now back up and running. The site contains the most comprehensive list of Waits concerts and radio- and tv-interviews available on the internet. A must-have bookmark for all Waits fans and collectors.

Tony Khan buys rights to Ol' 55 as a tribute to Brodie Lee

American businessman and sports executive Tony Khan claims he has bought the rights to the Tom Waits song Ol' 55. The song was used in a tribute to professional wrestler Jonathan (John) Huber, better known as Brodie Lee, who died on December 26, 2020 at the age of 41. In a message on Twitter Khan says he has bought te rights 'in perpetuity' so that tribute 'will last forever'.

American routes airs on HQR 91.3fm from 6-8pm on Saturday evenings.

 Julien's Auctions is auctioning a 'black neoprene jacket owned and worn by Tom Waits' (size S) and a signed Real gone cd. Proceeds go to Musicares charity relief.   Estimated price is $2,000 - $3,000, bidding ends on September 9.

 Inque, a Kickstarter project seeking to collect $150,000 by August 20, claims Tom Waits has been confirmed to contribute to this new ‘ten-year, ten-issue ad-free magazine’. What Waits' contribution exactly might be, isn't clear yet.
