When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book. I saw movies and I was the hero in the movie. So every dream I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times…I learned very early in life that: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend - without a song.’ So I keep singing a song. Goodnight. Thank you. – January 16, 1971.

Elvis would have turned 87 today. (8/1/22) 🎂
Here he is March 17th 1956 outside the CBS-TV Studio 50 stage door, NYC. If you go there today you’ll still see that same door bell seen in picture # 1. 📸 2 & 3 by Alfred Wertheimer. 📸 1 by (?)

From Billy Stanley
Today we celebrate the birthday of a remarkable man. A man that literally changed the world. On this day, 87 years ago, a baby was born. There wasn't any headlines or breaking news of this birth. It was a normal day, in Tupelo.
No one knew what this child would one day do. As he was growing up, a lot of people noticed he was different. Not only in the way he looked, but in the way he acted, also. In a time when it wasn't popular to love and care about others, this young man did.
This young man was full of hopes and dreams, as all children are. Only, his were different than most. He dreamed of making people happy. To bring people from around the world together. His hopes were that everyone would see each other as brothers and sisters, no matter what their skin color.
He never gave up on his dreams, even when his father said they were foolish. He didn't give up when the Glee Club said, his voice wasn't good enough to sing with them. He didn't give up when Sam Phillips got disappointed in his ability on a song he was given, but they didn't like the way he sang it.
This young man had sound, and a beat in his head. It was different than anything anyone had ever heard. He knew, if he had the chance to let people hear it, it would bring joy and happiness to many. How many, he wasn't sure.
When Sam Phillips and the engineers walked back in from their break, they heard a sound. A sound they'd never heard before. They asked the young man, what was that. The young man replied, just something I had in my head. That's the day that changed not only our world, but his also. The rest is history.
So, as we gather to celebrate Elvis' birthday, let's also be thankful. Be thankful for a man that tried his best to make a difference, and for a man that still brings us all together, with his music and his movies. Be thankful for the lessons in life, he taught us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELVIS! I love and miss you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELVIS! ♛ Jan. 8, 1935 – Aug. 16, 1977.
People can buy your records and hear you sing. They don’t have to come out to hear you sing. You have to put on a show in order to draw a crowd. If I just stood out there and never moved a muscle, people would say ‘well my goodness, I can stay home and listen to his records’. – Elvis Presley.
