Problematic Wicca
I’ve read some posts about Gardnerian Wicca being problematic, and it’s often the people within bringing their trash to it rather than it having issues as a religion. It was born out of the Edwardian era and thus carries with it the baggage of older men wanting to be ‘rebellious’ to their class and station with a little nudity and a little spanky spanky which Gardner and companions were fans of. It is also a very binary gender oriented path where male and female are required in certain positions or circles can’t even be cast. Ritual nudity is either an issue or not as is the spanky spanky aspect and it’s up to the individual  seeker to take it or leave it. The gender issues are also up to the individual and their coven as a group to decide how they approach the ideas of gender in their spiritual practice. Most Neo-Wicca/101 books will tell you to run far from a group ‘requiring’ nudity, but it’s part and parcel of Gardnerian work.
If one is inclined to a more ‘churchy,’ more structured path, Gard could be what they seek as it is often formal with a liturgy and the routine of every Gard doing the same thing on more or less the same ritual nights. It also has the benefit of its lineages of covens and priests and priestesses being taken very seriously, and your work and experience is able to be vetted - often traceable back to Gardner himself. Some may see this as a way of establishing credibility and standing in a community that is often awash in, ‘... I just call myself that because it sounds neat..!’
The issues with Neo-Wicca, for me, often come down to the lack of their being any rules at all. It’s seekers confusing being a witch with being Wiccan. Wicca is (often/not always) a secret, initiatory religion that has rules to follow, and it has rituals held at specific times of the year. It has a set way of performing a ritual/circle casting, and it has specific ideas/ethics on spell casting. Witchcraft/being a witch - as a path separate from Wicca - is what you make of it, what works for you, out of your own culture and lifestyle and occupation as generation upon generation of people have done before you. This is found in every culture the world over. If you said, I’m a witch because I said so and I do what I want to do, I’d say, that’s fine - good for you. If you said, I’m a Wiccan just because I said so and I do what I want, I’d say, no, you’re not.
I would also say that there are Wiccans who don’t call themselves witches, and obviously, being a witch does not automatically make you Wiccan... and there are Gardnerians who would say, if you’re not Gard, you’re not really Wiccan because words mean things. Even the word pagan (used in a modern context) becomes hotly contested with a host of meanings, feelings, and ideas attached to it when all it means is a path that is not one of the big 3 Abrahamic religions.
So if anything is ‘problematic,’ it is often the lack of understanding, research, and/or education into the esoteric path an individual thinks they are following.

The Witches' Creed (Annotated)
By Doreen Valiente
The birth and rebirth of all nature, (The Wheel of the Year)
Hear now the words of the Witches,
The secrets we hid in the night,
When dark was our destiny's pathway,
That now we bring forth into light.
Mysterious water and fire; (Primal energies of water and fire)
The earth and the wide-ranging air,
By hidden quintessence (spiritual energy - fifth element) we know them,
And will keep silent and dare. (The Witch's Pyramid)
The passing of winter and spring,
We share with the life universal,
Rejoice in the magical ring (The magick circle)
Four times in the year the Great Sabbat Returns,
And the witches are seen At Lammas and Candlemas dancing,
On May Eve and old Halloween
When day-time and night-time are equal (Solstices)
When the sun is at greatest and least,
The four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
And again gather Witches in feast
Thirteen silver moons in a year. (Ancient lunar calendar where there were 13 months following the moon rather than 12)
Thirteen is the coven's array.
Thirteen times of Esbat make merry,
For each golden (solar) year and a day.
The power was passed down the ages (Lineage)
Each time between woman and man,
Each century unto the other Ere time and the ages began.
When drawn is the magickal circle,
By sword or athame of power,
Its compass between the two worlds lies In the land of the Shades for that hour,
This world has no right then to know it,
And worlds of beyond will tell nought.
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
The Great Work (Alchemy) of magic is wrought.
For two are the mystical pillars (Chaos vs. Order: Force and Form)
That stand at the gates of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The forms and the forces divine. (Occult Kabbalah)
The dark and the light in succession,
The opposites each unto each (Full Moon) Shown forth as a God and a Goddess:
Of this did our ancestors teach.
By night He's the wild wind's rider,
The Horn'd One, the Lord of the Shades,
By day He's the King of the Woodland,
The dweller in green forest glades.
She is youthful or old as She pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in Her Barque (Boat - Four Adorations)
The bright silver Lady of Midnight,
The Crone who weaves spells in the dark.
The master and mistress of magic,
They dwell in the deeps of the mind, (Psychology and the science of magick)
Immortal and ever-renewing,
With power to free or to bind.
So drink the good wine to the Old Gods (Communion)
And dance and make love in their praise,
Till Elphames's (Summerland; Faeryland) fair land shall receive us,
In the peace at the end of our days.
And do what you will be the challenge,
So be it in love that harms none, (Wiccan Rede)
For this is the only commandment,
By magic of old it be done!

Morning Ritual for Learning Acceptance
This ritual works well for granting you acceptance of matters that you cannot change, and for increasing your tolerance of others beliefs and opinions. It is also effective against racist attitudes.
Materials:
A white candle
Upon rising each morning, light a white candle. Sit down in a comfortable position facing the candle and focus on the flame. Say:
Gracious Lady, hear my plea
Grant me tolerance that I might see
The need for diversity on the Earth
And see its value and it’s worth
Help me to find the harmony
In accepting what is meant to be
And replace my negative attitude
With perfect love and fortitude
Gracious Lady, hear my plea
As I will, so mote it be
Watch the candle flame for 10 minutes while concentrating on your desire to become more accepting, then snuff the flame.
Perform this ritual every morning for 7 consecutive days.

Theres so much more to spirituality than spells and divination..
A huge part of it is HEALING. Acknowledging your traumas and working through them. What good is a spiritual practitioner that is still harboring excess baggage? How could you call yourself a healer without even attempting to heal yourself? Obviously no ones perfect and we’re never gonna have it all figured out but, self love and self healing NEEDS to be a priority. Yes it’s exciting to cast your first spells and shuffle your first deck of cards.. but again those are just parts of a big picture. By healing yourself, you heal so many others in the process. Take care of yourself guys.. research shadow work.

Greek Goddess of the Hearth and Domestic Life
Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home, architecture, domesticity, family, and the state. She was one of only three virgin goddesses, next to Athena and Artemis. Although both Poseidon and Apollo wanted to marry her, Hestia made an oath to Zeus that she would remain forever pure and undefiled, never entering into a union with a man.
She is a goddess of the Olympian generation, daughter of Cronus and Rhea and sister to Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter and Hera. When Cronus swallowed his children for fear one would dethrone him, Hestia was the eldest and thus swallowed first. After Zeus forced his father to disgorge his children, Hestia was the last to be yielded up, making her both the oldest and the youngest daughter.
As the goddess of the hearth, she personified the fire burning in the hearth of every home in Greece. Hestia receiving the first offering at every sacrifice in the household with families pouring sweet wine in her name and dedicating the richest portion of food to her.
The hearth fire in the household was not allowed to go out by any family unless it was ritually distinguished. Though Hestia did not have a public cult, she was worshipped at any temple, regardless of the god the temple was dedicated to. Hestia is described as a kind, forgiving and discreet goddess with a passive, non-confrontational nature. Some, critically, have called her colorless because there is little information provided in regard to her character.
Although Hestia appeared in a few stories, she was not overly significant in Greek mythology. Hestia is completely omitted from the works of Homer, author of the Iliad and the Odyssey. Poets such as Apollodorous, Hesiod, and Ovid allude to her in their works.
Each city had a public hearth that was sacred to Hestia; the fire kindled there was never allowed to go out. New colonies took fire from the hearth in the prytaneion (also known as the town hall) and kept the fires going in those new locations. Every meal began and ended with an offering to Hestia. Like Athena and Artemis, Hestia was referred to as a virgin goddess. Although Apollo and Poseidon proposed marriage to Hestia, she requested of Zeus to remain a maiden forever. Domestic life was her dominion in spite of her desire to remain a virgin. She was one of only twelve Olympian deities. Her name literally means “hearth”; appropriately, her priorities were family and community. Children were accepted into the family by being presented at Hestia’s hearth. This observed first step ensured the goddess’s blessing on the new addition.
Vesta was the Roman equivalent to Hestia. Public and private worship of Hestia was widespread. She represented communal security and personal happiness.
Because Hestia remained a virgin, it follows that she had no children.

To those who have swept or have blown the leaves from the walk, have rinsed the dishes or dusted their screens, Hestia looks on you from beneath her veil. She smiles, then wraps a shawl made of sunlit October air around you.
To those who remain in bed, who are on the edge of crying, who have turned on the tv to drown out the world, Hestia sits on the edge of your bed, patting circles on your back. I know, my love, she says, I know, I know. It can be so hard. My sweet, it’s time to get up. I need you, she says. Let’s make this home a sanctuary. Light a candle. Make your hands to care about this place. Let out the work of love.
