I was tagged by lovely @kanronotatsu 🤍 to post nine books I want to read/finish in 2025. (Thank you for the tag 🥰)

I’m a fast reader when I’m in the mood and as quick as a turtle when I’m not so let’s see how many of these will be finished by the end of this year 👀

Tender is the flesh by Agustina Bazterrica- Currently reading this one, I hope I can finish it soon. It’s about cannibalism getting normalized in a society that animals can no longer be considered as a food source due to a disease. It makes you think (and gives you the shudders) 😃🫣

No longer human by Osamu Dazai- bought this book a year ago. It’s a short story about the writer’s own life. I managed reading half of it but it felt sooo depressing and heavy for me in that period of time (also knowing that this book was his last one before ending his life didn’t help) and I couldn’t get through it back then. I’m looking forward to finishing it this year.

If we were villains by M.L. Rio- this one is also one I want to finish reading (tho I’ve read only a chapter of it) . A dark academia themed story with a murder mystery going on. I enjoyed reading The secret history before this and I’d heard this is kinda influenced by that but I personally find it easier to read than TSH.

Shokuzai by Kanae Minato- this one was recommended by my friends. I was told I’d like it since I enjoyed reading Edogawa Ranpo’s works. He is one of the writers that Kanae Minato is influenced by so I wanna be done with the others so I can get to read this 😫

Book 3 of A good girl’s guide to murder series by Holly Jackson- I really enjoyed reading the first two books. I’m hopeful the third one will be as intriguing as them.

I rambled too much so I’ll just name the 4 other books that I look forward to reading:

there is absolutely no way they would leave each other

imagine being Jeongwoo. imagine being harassed, beaten up and hated for years. imagine bearing the amount of guilt enough to atone for sins of the whole town. feeling so miserable you want to end your life because of how unbearable it is to exist. being rejected by your own mother. finding out people you trusted, relied on the most are the cause of your immense suffering. and then you meet him. one and only person who believes you, fights for you, trusts you. He is always there when you need him the most. He makes sure you are warm, safe and comfortable, that you eat and sleep good. He takes you to his home, gives you his clothes, supports you in every way possible. even if you are oblivious, even if none of the terrible events have ever happened, you wouldnt be able not to become attached. you may not fall in love but you most certainly will grow accustomed to the warmth, to the peace being with this person brings you.

and imagine being Sangcheol? imagine caring for someone so deeply you ache for their pain, you feel worried sick every time there is a slightest chance of that person being hurt either physically or emotionally. realising you have a soft spot for them and cannot even scold them for being reckless. wanting to make them feel better, doing everything in your power to make them smile and when they do - that is all you ever needed. Being besides them heals you, allows you to move on and finally breathe again. would you let go?

at this point it is not even about love. their lives are so intertwined they wont be able to forget about each other. logically, there is no way.
