Hi. Just another over-zealous idealist hoping to change the world. Or. At least help leave it a lil better than how I found it. I'm headed to Jordan for a good chunk of 2017 and wanted a place to keep my personal thoughts, experiences, and feelings to share with kurious kats & people I love. Maybe touch some hearts and whatnot. Anyway, I'm not really all that aimless. Well, maybe. You can figure that part out for yourself. :) ~Enjoy!~

If you say "All Lives Matter" - you are part of the problem. If you endorse ICE deportations and the subsequent dehumanization of the Latino community through racial profiling, policing, and determining the value of their personhood from work output - you are part of the problem. If you believe Islam is inherently violent, cultural practices such as the hijab are oppressive to the Muslim American, and liken their value as an American as a "front line informant to terrorism" - you are part of the problem. If you are quicker to cite "black on black crime," or conclude black culture as "inherently violent" due to their disproportionate incarceration percentage in our prison system instead of looking at police brutality and other unequal institutional processes the black community endures - you are part of the problem. If you cite anything remotely MRA - such as feeling sympathy for the "ruined life" of rapists such as Brock Turner, or have ever resented feminism or gender equality as "impeding on traditional gender roles," or otherwise - you are part of the problem. If your feminist concerns are narrowed to the male gaze and whether or not you can shave and show your nipples in public - you are part of the problem. If you have ever asked a POC "but where are you FROM from?" Or any related variation of that, are more inclined to believe a POC is illegal or not "from America," or say "this is my black/Muslim/any non-white friend, _____" - you are part of the problem. If you believe any POC from a lower socioeconomic class has easy access to class mobility if they "just work a little harder" - you are part of the problem. If you believe POC get a free ticket to college and minimize their hard work due to the color of their skin - you are part of the problem. If you believe in the facade of a post racial society, your own narrative of POC over their personal stories, speak over their narratives, ignore them, or demand they educate you - you are part of the problem. If you are concerned with the "erasure of history" by taking down Confederate Monuments, but don't exude the same sympathy for the systematic erasure POC have endured throughout American history - such as The Dawes Act of 1887 - you are part of the problem. If you fail to acknowledge the majority of Confederate statues were erected in response to political movements towards black equality - such as during post Reconstruction ("Restoration") and the Civil Rights Era - and thus don't rightfully see them as a symbol and intentional threat of maintaining white supremacy - you are not only part of the problem, but you are also erasing history. You may not view yourself as a white supremacist, but there are dozens of harmful, culturally acceptable ideas that insulate and maintain its fruition. The majority of Americans I know are not aware of the racist implications of having opinions like these, so before you post that hashtag #ThisIsNotUs, check to see if you hold any ideas or speech related to them. Otherwise you are contributing to an atmosphere conducive for white supremacy to flourish.

‘Whose Streets?’ film highlights Ferguson activists’ battle with the trauma of protests
“You sacrifice your comfort, your security,” 28-year-old Ferguson activist Brittany Ferrell says in the upcoming Magnolia Pictures documentary about the Ferguson protests, Whose Streets?.
“You sacrifice everything to do this work.”
The film explores how Ferrell and other St. Louis-area residents dealt with the fallout of their demonstrations, even after most national news outlets left Ferguson to cover other flashpoints in the Black Lives Matter movement.
The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in February and will open in theaters nationwide on Aug. 11. Read more (7/24/17)

Fanfic writers are the unsung heroes of the Internet
It always amazes me on how much effort and time fanfic writers will put into a story or even just a chapter. Just imagine writing an AU on something they know nothing about so they have to research the history of a different country, look up the rules and point system of a sport they have never played, or study and learn a subject they don’t know much about just because they wrote about a character who is good at marine biology or something.
It is amazing the amount of time and care that is put into writing each chapter just so other people can read their work for free. Fanfic authors don’t expect the readers to pay them for their work, all they would like is a comment and a like on their chapters to tell them that the reader likes their writing and story.
I wanted to write this as an appreciation post to all the amazing fanfic authors out there because without them people wouldn’t have countless hours of free entertainment.
