Once Bitten Twice Smitten
Benny Lafitte x Original Character - Chapter Two
After dinner last night, Dean had shown Benny to the long hallway where the bedrooms were, or at least the hall where we resided. I had tagged along at first, enjoying the company of the two men, but exhaustion had settled in after the meal, and I had excused myself when we reached my door. I had sank down into my queen sized mattress, and even though my head was telling me to take a shower, my eyes said another and I was fast asleep.

When I awoke, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and food wafted throughout my spacious room. I breathed in deeply, stomach growling at the thought of a good meal.
I swing my legs over the side of my bed, pushing the comforter out of the way so that I don’t get tangled in it. I’m dressed in a thin tank top the color of the sky, short black shorts, with my long black hair just hanging free down my shoulders. I slide my feet into a pair of black slippers, and meander my way out of the room and down the hall towards the smell of breakfast. I was drowsy, shuffling my feet since we had gone to bed rather late last night after dinner, so I knew I could use a good cup of coffee as soon as possible. Sam must have brewed a pot and been motivated to make us some breakfast. It was rare, but it did happen.
When I enter the kitchen, I blink and take focus on a broad shouldered figure standing in the room. His short blonde hair tapered down his neck, and his wide shoulders led to two thick, muscular arms and a strong back. His long legs were clothed in a pair of grey sweatpants, which the boys must have loaned him, and he wore a white long sleeve shirt. I swallow, my heartrate kicking up a notch at the sight of the handsome vampire. I hadn’t expected him to be the one to cook, but then again, it hadn’t crossed my mind yet that there was an extra body in the Bunker with us.
I step forward, watching him and he moves over the skillet, flicking his wrist to make what looks to be sausage slices and chopped onion flip in the air before sizzling once again. He’s wearing an apron as well, and he looks completely at home.
“Morning Benny.” I say, my voice still thick from sleep. I clear it and reach for the cabinet where I knew the coffee cups were. I snag myself a mug and proceed to fill it with dark, rich coffee from the pot. “You made breakfast?” I ask.
He nods, giving me a small smile with a twinkle in his eyes. “I may not eat normal food to live now, but I do know how to cook a decent meal.” He says.
“Well, thank you. It smells delicious.”
“Anytime sugar. I like to cook.” He grins at me, his blonde brows hiking up a bit, making him look boyish for the moment.
“What smells so good?”
We turn to see Sam stumble into the kitchen, followed closely by Dean who’s dressed in a robe and slippers. Sam pauses when he sees Benny but proceeds to make himself a cup of black coffee a moment later. “You made breakfast?” Sam asks slowly.
“Just a little bit.” Benny replies. “I hope it was okay chief.”
Sam shrugs. “It is. Just not used to having home cooked meals for breakfast.” He said while he sipped the coffee. Dean’s doing the same, adding a ton of sugar to his as though his energy level is depleted. He hums in satisfaction as it goes down, and he shakes his head.
“It’s nice to have sugar again.” He grunts, his short hair standing up all over and his face looking rumpled and sleepy.
“Ya’ll just head on into the library. I’ll bring breakfast out.” Benny says, his drawl fluid and sweet to hear. I pause whilethe boys head out with their mugs. Benny notes that I haven’t moved, and he gives me a smile. “It’s alright darlin’ I’ve got this.”
“Are you sure? You’ve already cooked a wonderful meal, I’d hare for you to have to carry all of this out by yourself.” I say, giving him a worried glance.
He chuckles. “I’m sure sugar. It’s not my first rodeo.”
I slowly nod before turning and walking out of the room, finding the boys relaxing at the long library table. Steam rises from their mugs, and they look as though it weren’t time for them to be awake, which was strange because Sammy always woke up early to go jogging in the morning.
I take a seat next to Sammy, who had been sitting across from Dean. A moment later I hear the sound of heavy footsteps and turn to see Benny holding four large platters of foot balanced on his arms. Each steaming as he neared the table. He expertly places them in front of us before excusing himself to retrieve silverware and plates. When he arrives with the utensils, the boys are all over it, loading their plates tall before shoveling the food into their mouths. I portion out my meal and look at Benny in question.
“Are you going to try what you’ve cooked?” I ask him, and he smiles sweetly.
“Sugar, I think I just might.” He had brought four plates to begin with, and he takes the chance to fork stewed tomatoes, sausages, onions, bacon, and eggs onto his plate before enjoying it with the rest of us.
“So what’s the plan for today?” Dean asks, picking up his cup of coffee after eating in silence for a few moments.
“Well, there’s reports of a wendigo sighting a few states over. Think we should check it out?” Sam replies as he looks over the newspapers.
“Better than nothing. Let’s go.”
I murmur my agreement, and Benny shifts in his seat to gaze at Dean in interest. “Mind if I join, chief?”
“It wouldn’t be a bad thing to have an extra set of hands. You can help track it since speed isn’t a problem for you.” He replied, and I take note of Sam’s scrunched up face. I look at Benny, and when his blue eyes peer at me, I smile.

Once Bitten Twice Smitten
Benny Lafitte x Original Character - Chapter One
When Dean returned from Purgatory, Sam and I had been ecstatic that he was alive albeit a bit paranoid, but what we hadn’t expected, was his newly acquired partner, a vampire named Benjamin Lafitte, or Benny as he preferred to be called.
Of course, Sam and I had been cautious regarding him, and yet Sam was the one who was the hardest on him. I think it was a spur of jealousy, seeing as how I had heard Dean tell Sam that at least Benny had never betrayed his trust. I knew it had to hurt coming from his brother, but I understood.
Two years ago, when I had first met Sam and Dean, I had been hunting with my cousin Rich, a nest of vampires who had been plaguing a town not too far from where we lived. We’d agreed to eliminate the nest as soon as possible and get out of dodge in case their alpha came knocking. We’d arrived at the location, an abandoned home that had all of the windows boarded up. Most homes that had been left to rot looked like that, and yet, we knew it was filled with bloodsucking monsters. I had followed Rich into the home, my machete resting in my right hand, fingers curling around the grip to secure it incase something caught us off guard. Something hard had struck my head, and I had fallen to the floor. I had looked in terror as vamps had grabbed Rich while my vision had turned black. Of course, when I had come to, I realized that it wasn’t an accident but a pre-planned attack. My cousin had made a deal with the nest, asking to become a vampire in exchange for giving me over as a blood offering. I had been terrified, struggling against my ties when the two Winchesters had come barging in and rescuing me from that nightmare. They’d killed Rich in the process, but I didn’t hold it against them because he had been the one willing to give me up for nothing.

Benny sat at the long library table beside me, opposite of Dean, and I could see the look Sam was giving him as Dean tried to explain the situation. “He helped me find a way out of Purgatory. We’d fought side by side to survive for a year. I had to trust him with my life.” Dean said, turning to face his younger brother who’s sour face said that he didn’t quite like what he was hearing. “Unfortunately you should know how I am about these things. Hell I killed that Kitsune girl because I didn’t trust your relationship with her. But I didn’t kill Ruby when you were parading around with her.” He argued in his defense.
“Yeah, but how can you be sure he won’t go around attacking people if we turn him loose?” Sam bickered back, arms crossed. “All I’m saying Dean, is that we can’t be too sure. If he runs out of donated blood and gets hungry, it gets hard for them. Remember when I turned you and you fought the thirst?”
Dean grunts. “Yeah I remember. It was the most painful thing I’ve ever felt but Benny’s different. If he wanted to kill me, he’d have done so back in Purgatory.”
“That is true Sammy.” I say, glancing at the blonde haired man beside me. I take note of his strong jaw, his brilliant baby blue eyes, his full lips, and his strong brows. He’s wearing a newsman cap, black atop his dirty-blonde, short hair, and his beard is almost a pure blonde where it comes from his ears and wraps around his face. He’s watching Sam and Dean, listening. His faded olive green trouser pants come up high around his abdomen, his long sleeve white shirt unbuttoned down his chest where pale curls peek out. I see black suspenders holding his pants up, and he’s long since hung his black peacoat by the door when he came in. His black loafers were dusty and scuffed, and he sat in a relaxed position with a curve in his spine and his hands laced together on his stomach. His fingers are thick, and I find myself wondering what his touch might feel like, but I shake my head because “vampire” flashes through my mind.
“Sam, he needs somewhere to stay and what better place than the Bunker which is warded against literally everything?” Dean presses, sighing. “I’m not asking you to like him, I’m just asking for you to give him a chance.”
“I will Dean, but not because I want to.” He says, rising from the table. He brushes his long hair back out of his face and wanders off into the library.
I watch as he goes before settling my green eyes back onto Benny and Dean.
“I’m sorry brother. I don’t mean to cause strife.” Benny says, and for the first time, I hear what his voice sounds like. He must be from the deep south because his words slur together and his lips barely move. His voice is deep and rich, and I try to place the accent.
“Oh Sammy? He’s like that sometimes. I’m not worried about him. It’s uh, Rose I’m actually worried about.” He nods towards me. “We rescued her from a vamp hunt gone wrong two years ago. Cousin sold her out to the nest in trade to be changed. Got there just in time.”
Benny gazes at me, his baby blues deep and filled with sadness. I blush and squirm under his gaze. I felt no ill intent coming from Benny, which was normally my first indicator for anyone, and I hadn’t been on edge since he arrived, which was a good sign. “I’m sorry darlin’ if you don’ want me around I understand.” He flicks his eyes at Dean and back again. “Take away my fangs, I was born human too. I’ve done things I wish I could take back, but my past is my past and I’m looking for redemption.” I listen to his lilting accent, zoning in and out as I hear him speak. “Would you allow me to prove myself to Sam, and to you?”
I give him a small smile. I tuck my black hair behind my ear and nod slowly at him. “I will Benny. I have a sixth sense when it comes to people. I don’t feel that you’re being untruthful.”
Dean chuckles. “It’s true Benny. She can feel intent from others and she judges character from that. It’s the only reason you’re able to sit beside her. She’d have sliced at the door and asked questions later if she were anyone else.”
Benny chuckled. “Got a fiesty one huh chief?”
He nods. I feel that my flush is still in place and I clear my throat, getting the two mens’ attention. “I’m going to go and make dinner if that’s alright.”
“What are you planning on making sweetheart?” Dean asks.
“Chili?” I ask.
“That sounds amazing. Beans, noodles, and best of all-MEAT.” He laughs with a grin. “Dinner of the gods. It’s perfect Rose.”
So I turn and make my way from the library down the short hall into the kitchen. I find ground beef, onions, and canned beans first, tossing them into the tall silver pot. I turn the heat on and listen as the beef’s juices simmer. I grab cans of tomato sauce, portioning out seasonings and fresh herbs. I set a pot of water on the stove and bring it to a boil, tossing in the two boxes of macaroni noodles. I was happy that I had thought to have Dean buy me live herbs because they’re so much better than ground or dried. I add them into the pot as well when I’m sure the beef has been cooked thoroughly. I check the noodles, noting that they’re just slightly chewy still. I wait.
There’s a knock on the door of the kitchen despite it being open, and I glance over at the entry to see Benny standing there in his tousers and long sleeve shirt. His expression is sheepish, and he moves towards the fridge. He pulls open one side, and not seeing what he was looking for, he opens the other side. He reaches inside and cracks something open, like a container. He holds a blood bag in his hand labeled AB. He moves to the microwave and places it inside and presses the thirty second button. I reach into the cabinet and withdraw a cup. I hand it to him and he looks at me funny. “For the blood. At least so you can feel like a normal human being instead of an animal.” I tell him, and something in his blue eyes softens.
“Thank you darlin’ no one’s ever thought of doin’ that for me.” He said and when the microwave beeps, he pulls the cap and poors the liquid into it. It’s a dark glass cup so it masks the color of the blood without issue. He takes a swallow from it before he closes his blue eyes and visibly sinks. He shakes his head a bit and turns to leave but I stop him.
“Benny, can you tell the boys dinner’s ready?”
He nods and leaves the room. I strain the noodles and dump them into the remaining space in the pot, stirring them into the mix as I hear the telltale sound of the men ambling their way to the kitchen.
“Something smells like heaven in here!” Dean grunts, grabbing a bowl and a spoon. I hand him the ladle and I step back as he makes himself a pile. Sam’s next, and despite having drank his meal, Benny makes himself a bowl of chili as well which takes me back. He smiles sweetly at me before following the line back out to the long table in the library. I quickly make myself a heap of the food and meander my way out to the men. Dean’s got a mouthful of food but that doesn’t stop him from yelling that it was delicious as I sit down.
“It’s wonderful Rose.” Sam says, taking a swig of his beer.
“Where did you learn how to cook darlin’?” Benny says, swallowing his mouthful.
“Honestly? I like to experiment. I just kind of perfected it as I went on.” I told him, blushing. “I love to cook.”
“Well that’s a good thing darlin’ because you’re very good at it.” Benny compliments, and my heart flutters.
Sam clears his throat before speaking to Dean about a new case. Dinner passes quickly, and somehow we find ourselves laughing at jokes and old stories that seemed long forgotten. It felt normal despite the near-stranger sitting amongst the three of us, and regardless of my past, I felt myself warming up to Benny.
