I'm happy to see that the height difference is alive and well. I think there is actually more of a height difference now than in season 4.

"They have been building up M*leven since the beginning!" Another thing that makes me laugh about people who say this is that they just conveniently forget that they have also been building up BYLER for just as long. Either they forget or they're forcing themselves to not see that. But I don't think they're ready for that conversation yet.
M*leven was "built up," and poorly at that, until S2. However, they have spent the past 2 seasons tearing their relationship down. They are no longer building ANYTHING as far as M*leven is concerned. Byler on the other hand is still being built up. Byler has only gotten increasingly more and more obvious over the years. I'd even go as far to say that M*leven was only ever a thing for the sake of the love triangle drama. I think the Duffers knew early on that they wanted to do the love triangle eventually and that is why M*leven even happened in the first place. Because if that's not the case, then they royally fucked up the writing for their "main couple."
#I want people to stop acting dense and acting like byler hasn't also been built up since the beginning#rewatch the show and actually pay attention to what is happening this time#byler#anti mileven

I always find it hilarious when people say Mike was calling out Will's misogyny because if anyone was being misogynistic it was Mike and Lucas lmao.

Let's entertain the idea that Byler isn't endgame, right? Let's just entertain that thought for a moment and talk about how much that wouldn't make sense.
If Byler isn't endgame, then that means the Duffers wrote Will to be in love with Mike and they wrote all of the intimate Byler scenes and the heart-to-hearts KNOWING nothing was going to come of it. They knew it wasn't going anywhere when writing those scenes. They stretched this out for multiple seasons knowing there wouldn't be any payoff. And that is just an odd thing to do as a writer. From a writing aspect, that makes no sense at all. It is straight up pointless. Especially when they could have just as easily written in a new love interest for Will seasons ago. They could have introduced someone for him back in season 2 or 3. They did not need to involve romantic feelings and romantic connotations to Mike and Will's dynamic. They could have stayed strictly platonic.
Like why write and create a whole romantic storyline that you don't intend to give any sort of satisfying conclusion to? What is the point in making a big deal about Mike and Will and Will's feelings in particular if he's just going to get rejected and Mike is going to stay in the same crappy relationship that nobody likes? It. Just. Wouldn't. Make. Sense. At. All. If Byler isn't endgame, then that just leaves us with more questions than answers. No good writer introduces a romantic storyline that isn't going to go anywhere.
And I want to emphasize the point that they did not NEED to do any of this with Byler...but they CHOSE to do it. So, if they willingly chose to give Mike and Will a romantic plot knowing people, especially LGBTQIA+ people, would ship them and they don't make them endgame? And they use Will's feelings and sexuality as a way to help make a straight ship endgame? That is homophobic writing and queerbaiting. That is stringing their LGBT fans along. And I will lose ALL respect for them.
