Nobody talks about how damaging being a reader AND a writer is. Like I can't read a book normally without either: a) mentally criticizing every poorly constructed sentence and analyzing it or b) comparing an EDITED AND PROFESSIONALLY PROOFREAD piece of published work to my MEANT-TO-BE-BAD-FIRST DRAFT and proceeding to gaslight myself into thinking I'm shit and being thrust into a week-long writing hiatus.

i'm 21 but my childish ass would fucking DEMOLISH a self-insert one-shot about this dream. literally just me sitting in that minimalist rich-people room watching vampires being read to filth by a 70 yo.

guys i had a crazy iwtv-related dream tonight.

i dreamed that i was also in dubai interviewing louis and armand because i had previously and randomly met louis and he had become paranoid that i somehow knew he was a vampire. then apparently louis found out i am an author and invited me to dubai along with daniel.

there comes my favourite part of the dream, where me and daniel make friends and spend the mornings giggling and kicking our feet in bed while talking shit about the vampires, also while browsing all the files RJ sent. tbf i would love to be besties with this bisexual former addict 70 yo with parkinson's, so that was very real of my sleeping brain.

also, at some point, my brain changed the scenery of my dream and we were no longer doing the interview in dubai, but we were at my house (???? secluded town in italy) and someone had locked a random dog into my balcony, so obviously i let it in (louis, i know it was your lunch, you evil sucker) and cuddled it, but i also let it jump on what was supposedly daniel's bed and i texted him to ask him if he was allergic to dog fur????

THEN the scenery changed again and we were all in new york, except i was at a market for some reason and I had to be back for interview at 9:30 pm, but i didn't know how to get back so i texted louis (why do i have this vampire's number) and literally typed: "bro i need the address, i got lost at the market." LIKE, WHAT?????

anyway, the interview ended up being at the empire state building.

i really need a follow-up dream for this because i need to know what the hell i was doing at the interview. was i staring?? was i just listening???? was i commenting along with daniel or was i taking notes???? both? was i going to be published and turned into a vampire along with daniel?????

'Across The River'

Hello, everyone! I'm Camilla — some of you may know me as Pixie — and I came here on Tumblr to build a community centred around writing and reading, but mostly to tell you more about my adult dystopian novel, 'Across The River'.

Just to start, I'm gonna tell you a few things about myself:

• I'm 21

• I'm about to get my degree in Communication Sciences and I will proceed my studies in International Relations

• My preferred pronouns are she/her/they

Now here's a few facts about my novel:

• It's a MULTI-POV novel

• It's supposed to be the first of a series, but it could also work as a stand-alone, should that be imposed on me (by traditional publishing standards)

• There's no "spice" or smut

• It's a wip (work in progress)

• For now, I intend to traditionally publish

• The story follows the POV of Nadar, Zilla, Marcel and Shaera, with some more occasional POVs

• If you like these tropes — found family, strangers to enemies, unrequited love, friends to lovers, destructive grief, revenge arc —, this is the book for you

And I guess that, to let you know my novel even better, I could let you read the blurb and the prologue!

we write characters for them to feel real — writing an annoying, insufferable, or evil character is an exercise of our craft.

plus, we just love it.

I very strongly feel that the job of fiction is not to write admirable figures, but to imagine one's way into all sorts of people, often people who ostensibly at least are deeply unlikeable or unpleasant. The question is not whether you like them but whether you understand them.
