Inspired by the question “How would Sephiroth look  without mako & J-cells? ” Here is my interpretation, he looks like his mommy with his daddy’s eyes x3 (and I’m not referring to Hojo)

It had to say something positive that Lazard didn’t allow the men surrounding them to attack, right? It felt almost like a dream to be standing opposite his director once again. A man he had betrayed back when bitterness held his heart in a vice grip. It was a life that Genesis remembered with a clarity he wished would fade as time went on.

It never did.

So the smile he wore, as his hands were placed on either hip, was forced at best. Arrogance that had melted from so long imprisoned he felt like a fraud in the striking reds and black of his butchered SOLDIER uniform. He dipped his head, flipping the long bangs out of his eyes. “Of course I am, and you?”

Unforstalled Return

Of all the people to see again… not that Lazard had definitive proof Genesis had ever died, but… it had been the better part of a decade since he’d heard anything about him.

There was the distinct feeling of other eyes on him, other SOLDIERs somewhere - they had a terrible habit of watching after him these days - and he waved for them to stand down. “It’s good to see you. You’re looking… well.”

It wasn’t really all that shocking that Kadaj had managed to sense the mutations within him, after all it was the remnants ‘mother’ that had created him as well. Differently, and without the heavy touch that Sephiroth had borne through his life, but enough that Genesis knew very well he would never be human. It was debatable if he ever had been. So instead of answering, he just smiled. After all, no need offering up information he could get away with hiding.

“Wanting to destroy the world, I believe, generally pushes you into monstrous territory, but that is just my understanding of it. I’m pretty sure I once heard that world domination and revenge were the only dreams befitting a monster, so tell me, are either of those yours?” It was a joke, but one that hurt, because the origins did not belong.

The one person who had held honor and loyalty to the very end, the only one of the trio that truly didn’t deserve the mark of a monster, perhaps that was why his wings had been white. Hearing the man before him explain his origins though, Genesis couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

“Mother created you? Like, gave birth to you?” A truly disturbing concept given what he knew of Jenova. “How old are you?”

Familiar faces

“Don’t think I can’t sense it. You’re not entirely human yourself.” Now Kadaj didn’t know the history behind Genesis. But he didn’t need to in order to sense the non human part. The remnant remained quiet as the former SOLDIER explained about ShinRa. It was almost exactly the same as the rumors. There were divided opinions of course.

Kadaj decided to ignore the favorite part. “Monsters huh? And just what makes a monster? How about being contained in a lab for several years while scientists poke and prod at your DNA? I’m sure you would pissed about that too.” In this case he was referring to Jenova. Considering how neither he, nor his brothers were ever in a lab.

“Mother created me.” It was the only way he could explain it. “She says I don’t have a father. In fact according to how humans age I’m not even that old.”
