How many more auditions do you need before setting an acceptance date?

Considering that the show consist of 37 characters and the plan is to release 34 roles open for audition, (not counting the original characters that might come our way *wink wink, nudge nudge*), I’d say at least ten applications would be ideal. 

We want to star broadcasting with enough stories for the viewers to follow, after all. So apply, tell a friend, tell your friend to tell a friend! Get the ball rolling and we’ll be able to get the show to your screens in no time at all.

Yes, this will continue! While we had a set back in the writing of interviews of the characters, the next season of Bellevue is still happening. The official page has been quiet because the people behind the scenes have been a bit busy with other non-Bellevue related things but that doesn’t mean the show won’t go on. 

However, if you’d like to see more activity here, send in your questions! Who are you thinking of applying? Any of our unreleased characters you are dying to see? Is there anything about the island you would like to know? Send them and I’ll make sure to answer them ASAP!

would you prefer the writing sample to be pasted directly into the audition, or is a link okay if it's rather long?

Candidates are welcome to make any stylistic choices desired, as long as the requirements outlined are met. In this case, both linking and pasting are perfectly acceptable options.

can you see Ezra Miller as Tommy?

While I consider Ezra a fantastic actor, I am not sure if I see him filling the part of Tommy. Mainly because Ezra has a more androgynous vibe, while Matthew is more stereotypically masculine which is part of why Tommy is so different from the usual images of non binary folks in the media.

you have Thomas Cassidy listed as being added to the payroll in both 2015 and 2016. which one is right?

With a show that has been going on for as long as this one, is only natural to find a bit of confusion between the fans but, as your official source of anything Bellevue related, I can assure you that Thomas Cassidy was added to the payroll on 2015, the same year that his father entered the show as well. The little mistake has been fixed from the Bellevue official page, thanks for letting us know about the mix up!

AJ was born with Unilateral Hearing Loss (a diagnosis that was only made after coming to the island). AJ is fluent in American Sign Language and English.

Aaron St. James ( Brother ) There has never been a moment in his life where Aaron wasn’t around. From his earliest memories, hiding under a table with his hands over his ears and the smell of curry on the air with Aaron crawling under the table with him to sooth him because the world was too loud to his latest memories, graduating from high school and enrolling to BVU, with Aaon congratulating him with a big smile and a hug, it has always been the two of them. AJ can’t imagine his life without his brother and he is grateful to have him in his life,even when Aaron gets over protective and stern. Aaron is the only family he has ever known and their bond is strong and never ending. 

Max Lee ( Soul Sister ) While AJ was always more than grateful for Ramsey Lee’s help and support, and understood the close, familial bond his brother had with the man, he never quite understood why Ramsey doted on him so much. That is, until Max showed up, and AJ finally understood; Ramsey treated AJ like the brother he never had, because he had spent so long away from his real sibling. Now, Max and AJ are getting along quite well, almost as well as their respective counterparts; they stay up late at night like middle schoolers trading mixtapes and philosophies.

Xander Bonham ( Interest ) Back when he was a kid and Marley took him to get ice cream in the park, AJ saw the young Bonham child playing around with a bright smile that made AJ want to befriend him, however Marley never let him get closer to the other, always distracting him with something else (a smart move since Xander’s mother never liked the poor kid). The interest faded away as AJ met other people, made other friends but now that they share classes at BVU, the curiosity AJ had for Xander has come back full force. The two have exchanged just a few words every now and then, small conversations that leave AJ feeling...Something. He doesn’t quite know what but he is more than eager to understand.

Dylan Cartwright ( Classmate ) Dylan and AJ share more classes than AJ thought possible for two students with conflicting majors, and the jury’s still out on how he feels about zem. They’re a bit too “out there” for AJ, and he’s not sure if he wants to be grouped in with the “queer kids” like Dylan and Xander -- not that the two particularly get along.

THOMAS “TOMMY” CASSIDY

I N T H E S P O T L I G H T

Tommy walks in wearing a blue dress, messed up hair and a couple of days stubble. It only half surprises me since we are used to seeing Tommy embracing a gender non conformist style in the show but seeing it in person is different, shocking. This is not something that I’m used to, even if my job is in the show business, Tommy is definitely one of a kind; The fans of the show will agree that we are lucky to have someone who identifies as genderfluid mixing femininity and masculinity and breaking the established gender roles in such a popular show. 

“Use they pronouns.” Tommy tells me. It’s not a polite request, it’s a demand and all I can do is nod as I watch them sit down in front of me. Now that they are closer, I can see the black nail polish decorating their fingers and the stains of paint in their skin. Have they been painting on an actual canvas or just another wall from Bellevue? A question for another time, perhaps. Right now there are other things me and of course, the public, want to know so I ask. 

“Look, I’m glad to represent a part of the community, to show others that people like me actually exist and that their f*cking rules about gender are out dated and ridiculous but I’m not going to change myself because some people get scandalized by my behaviour.” Tommy tells me. Their attitude, for all those who are new to Bellevue, has created as much controversy as the one of their father. 

Tommy has been seen smoking, partaking in the use of drugs and alcohol, as well as painting walls with spray paint with things like: “I exist and your erasure makes me bifurious.” and “Fuck the cis-tem.” The world is divided when it comes to Tommy, some applaud the things they do, others don’t approve and some agree with them but are tired of  ‘Seeing them destroy public property but not doing anything useful with their life.’ and want Tommy to ‘Do something with their revolutionary spirit.’ To which Tommy replied:

“F*ck them. Is my life, my choices and they don’t like it? Not my d*mn problem.”

Tommy uses he and they pronouns, he has been exploring the possibility of using she/hers but he is still exploring that territory. For now, they and he are the pronouns he feels more comfortable with most of the time. 

Tommy never really wanted to be an actor, it was something that happened by accident. His father was the one to get a part on Bellevue and so, he dragged Tommy with him. Tommy never expected to become a star. 

C O N N E C T I O N S

Butch Cassidy ( Father ) He is not the best role model to follow and he wasn’t exactly the most responsible father but Tommy loves their dad nevertheless. Butch forgot to pack their lunch for school, took too long in auditions and left Tommy some money to order pizza instead of making dinner, most of the times he forgot to set the alarm to get Tommy to school but he never forgot a birthday, he always gave Tommy a goodnight kiss, he made sure his kid never felt like he was missing a parent. They have each other’s backs, though thick and thin. It’s just you and me against the world. 

Sully James ( Ship ) It’s one of the audience’s favorite “ships”, overwhelming twitter mentions and commandeering tumblr tags. Though Sully and Tommy don’t often interact on-camera, viewers and critics alike have pointed out the obvious tension between the two, citing it as a “budding romance” (the fandom has always been hungry for player-player romances, which are few and far between on the Bellvue Show). This perceived tension is very real; Sully and Tommy despise each other with a strange intensity, and are often found off-camera vehemently arguing (sometimes even throwing punches). Their rivalry is angry and spiteful, but the two are forced to keep a straight face for the sake of ratings.

Elijah Murphy ( Idol ) Elijah Murphy has perfectly cultivated the bad boy attitude that Tommy so desperately seeks to create for himself, and while Murphy doesn’t seem to even remember Tommy’s name half the time (let alone his day-to-day pronouns), he doesn’t seem to mind having a little fan following him around. He considers Tommy one of Stillwater’s groupies, regardless of the fact that they don’t actually have groupies, and even if Tommy’s developed a bit of a crush on him, there’s no way to prove it.

Jackson Bay ( Acquaintance ) Tommy’s often the one who does the shipping and handling, so to speak, for Jackson’s outrageously large orders from the Cassidy drug ring. They are amazed my the life of luxury that Jax lives in, and once in a while, they convince the producers to let them sneak onto the Bay property during one of Jax’s extravagant parties, just to stir up a little drama

For the auditions, when it says the para sample should not be in character, does it mean the producers are looking for a sample from a previous LSRPG program?

Sure. This part of your audition can be from any type of writing you’ve done before, whether it be roleplaying acting, short stories screenwriting, or even fanfiction. We just want to get a sense of your voice.
