Thomawk was born in the towering peaks of The Giants Knuckle mountains, The night of his Birth the Hounds of his clan were restless, howling and barking to no end, his Father, the clans shaman Dukma saw this as a sign that his son would be a Master of beasts, for the reaction of the dogs was like that of when a new Alpha has taken over. His youth was spent learning the secrets of the wilderness from his mother, to his Father's loathing he seems to ignore the magical side of the world completely, this was reinforced when Thomawk, During a leave from the camp with his father to gather herbs, he openly said that magic is a cowards tool, that only those not strong enough to fight for themselves wield it, after this he stopped learning with his father. On one of his first hunts with his mother he Tracked a giant badger sow back to her borrow, when he came upon it she was leaving, he drew his bow and knocked an arrow, she stopped and saw him but it was to late, he released the string and the arrow fly and found it's mark in her heart. while collecting his kill he heard a quiet squeaking, when he investigated the sound he found a badger pup, no more then a week old, it's eyes still sealed; pittying the pup he brought it to his mother and questioned her on what to do, she claimed it would simply die without it's mother and that he should leave it but Thomawk could not bring himself to leave the beast and he brought it to the camp.
When his father saw it he questioned Thomawk what had happened. Thomawk recalled the story to his father, when he had finished his father suggested to leave the Badger pup with one of the milking hunting hounds that his tribe was known for, Thomawk asked the chiefs daughter, someone he was always fond of what she believed he should do. She suggested that her fathers hound would be the best to leave it with, as none of it's litter had made it, Thomawk not wanting to simply leave it without asking the chiefs permission, presented the badger and his daughters proposal to him, promising that he would claim it as his hunting hound, the chief answered " It shouldn't surprise me that one of maktu's family should try to tame such a beast like that of the Giant Badgers, so be it, you will name it here" Thomawk knelt before the Chief, "I will call him 'Tolko', The lonely one". "Hm a strange name, but that matters not, when the Time comes you will Take him on on his Proving hunt, Should he survive he will be bonded to you, but should he die you will not claim a hound" the Chief announced, Thomawk rose "I understand, Thank you Chief Do'zuk".
Thomawk was always large even amongst Goliaths, and with this great size came great strength and fortitude which he would prove by lifting massive boulders and sleeping in the snow at night, the elders thought it to be a good omen to have one of such power, but a tragic fate was in store for him that not even they know.
On one of his lone hunts he found the track of a great bear and believed if he could bring it down he would earn the respect of the chief and with that his daughter's hand. He tracked the bear to a moonlight grotto, the beast was surrounded by fresh kills though they seemed uneaten, it lifted it's great maw and shook the earth with it's mighty roar; he took his bow and unleashed three arrows into the bear, two hitting its chest and one finding its way in to it's eye, however it still pushed on barrelling into Thomawk knocking him down and biting deep in to his arm. Thomawk had fought to free himself from it's powerful jaws he was able to grab the arrow from it's eye and driving it deeper, the beast recoiled. Thomawk was able to get up and grab a weapon from one of the dead, a great Hammer, with his weak arm it was heavy and uynweildy but his will to live kept him going. The bear recovering from the arrow, now deep in it's eye lungead at him again, but Thomawk was ready. He rose the hammer up above his head and brought it down on the beast Skull with all his might, with a sickinig crack the bear fell silent.
While catching his breath an apperapion of a large wolf with a red head appeared and spoke to him, Thomawk readied Himself for another fight. It inhaled deeply gathering his scent "Strange, so rare is it that two of the same bloodline will share my gift" it said in a savage and primal voice, "What do do mean, two of the same bloodline" Thomawk questioned. The wolf snarled " am I held in so low regard, that your Tribe have stopped telling my legends" The wolf howled "Very well, long ago young cub, your Tribe worshiped me, and would devote the kills to me. Every season they would send one warrior to this grotto, and if they were worthy I would bless them as I blessed her and now you. You have bested my champion in the hunt, and in doing so have claimed her place, rise now champion of the eternal hunt and go forth with my blessings, you may walk as a beast as she did before you" And with that the wolf vanished, Thomawk turned to gather his game but instead found a half orc with her head caved in and arrows in her neck.
He returned to the camp with the maul that saved his life and after two nights of recovery he awoke to find his father waiting. He told his father of the bear and at the mention of the wolf with the red head his father gasped, and began to weep " I had hope this wouldn't happen, you must leave my son, that beast was Malars aspect, he is a cruel and unforgiving God, if what you tell me is true, you must leave". Thomawk sat confused for a moment "why, what has he done" he asked "what he said was true, once we did worship him, but that was long ago. We did not understand the 'Gift' he gave us, but now we do, it is not a gift boy, it is a curse, once the change happens you are uncontrollable, the last on the 'blessed' was your grandfather, Maktu, he was a proud warrior, he took Malars blessings and he changed, he became quick to anger and when a rival tribe attacked it was him and his Honor guard that slew them, but when they were gone Maktu turned on his Honor guard and ripped them apart. The shaman and I bound him while the chief and his son slew him, I am sorry my son, it is too dangerous for you to stay with us, You must leave" with that he left the hut leaving thomawk to pack.
