It's time to say publicly that I'm a victim of domestic violence. My parents control my finances and my every move. I suffer more and more from parental abuse, so my blog hasn't been updated very often lately. Domestic violence in Eastern Europe is a problem that affects millions of women and children, but only a few receive help. The shortage of shelters is especially acute. I have written several educational longreads (1, 2, 3) and generally strive to illuminate the situation in Eastern Europe for everyone. I will be glad even for one dollar! For anyone who is wondering what's happening in South Africa, there is a civil unrest going on here. I am by no means sure which news is real and which news is fake but from someone who is living here, right now things are getting scary.

There are protesters demanding the release of our ex president who has been arrested [I am not getting into all this]

Our provinces, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng are under turmoil as 'protesters' run anarchy on our land. Some speculate that this is used as an excuse for criminality.

Shopping malls are being burnt down, from what I have heard they have set a prison on fire [not so sure how true this is], streets are on fire, people are looting left right and centre.

There is nothing but violence.

We are unsure of what's happening, we don't know where all our police are, there is word that the South African army is set to deploy.

Civilians are taking it amongst themselves to protect each other. They are fighting against this violence.

I don't want to call this a civil war just yet, but where else can this be going?

It saddens me to see people taking others lives, waging wars, commiting crkmes for material and power. Disgusting people

It started with small small protests bc our former President (who stole BILLIONS) was arrested for corruption 💀 and then it became opportunistic with people (most who probs don’t even care or support the former president) looting stores. Now that all the stores, small and big business are done…. they are attacking residential areas.

THEY EVEN BEGAN BURNING FARMS, TRUCKS, AND FOOD SOURCES. like I’m in disbelief :(

It saddens me too :( I really hope it calms down soon.
