Heidi-Marie Ferren, a now Los Angeles based actress, writer, and singer/songwriter, also happens to be the last and longest reigning Miss USO. A woman worth catching up with this Memorial Day as Veterans, colleagues, and friends alike praise her continued efforts beyond the crown, "She continues to serve and support our troops and veterans every chance she gets." Her latest single, "EYES OF A SOLDIER," is a perfect example of exactly that, with the proceeds from any purchase going back to Veteran Support Groups near to her heart. Dane Diamond does a beautiful job with the country rock arrangement and full bodied production. With a beat and melody that would make anyone tap his, or her foot, one would not expect the poignant and sometimes painful message found in the lyrics. Each service member highlighted in the song is based on real people from the singer's work with, and on behalf of, our brave men and women in uniform. It is truly remarkable to have someone so young, so dedicated to the preservation of our past and the possibility of our future.
