The Art of Getting Started
588 posts
The blog to accompany the book The Art of Getting Started by Lee Crutchley. The idea is simple, I want you to show the world what you’re getting started. No matter how big or small, how serious or silly. I’m hoping this website becomes a celebration of people doing, and more importantly STARTING things.

As of today I’m no longer setting assignments or accepting submissions on this blog.
I never really had a plan when I started this project, I just wanted to get it started and see what happened. I never had any expectations for the submissions I’d get, or an idea of how long it would run for either. But it’s been great to see so many people getting involved in the 6 months or so this blog has been running.
I know a lot of people meant to submit to this blog more often than they did, or who still haven’t got round to submitting yet, and some of you will probably be upset that I’ve stopped taking submissions so suddenly and without any warning. But that was kind of the point all along.
So many of us put things off until tomorrow, or some other time in the future when we’ll magically feel more like doing those things. But, by definition, tomorrow and the future will never arrive. The only day we can be sure that we have is this one we’re in right now, today.
That was the whole purpose behind this blog, and book. I wanted people (me included) to get into the habit of getting on with things today, rather than waiting for that perfect moment to make them happen. I have been waiting for perfect moments my whole life, and I can tell you from experience that they never arrive.
So even though I’m no longer taking submissions here, I hope know you will feel ready to keep getting things started on your own. Today.
I’ll leave the list of assignments up in case you want to complete any in your own time, and of course you will always be able to buy the book, which is full of tasks and ideas with similar themes.
I’d like to say thank you to anyone who has submitted to this project or bought the book. If you’d like to keep up to date with the things I do in the future, you can follow my personal blog www.quoteskine.co.uk for updates.
Now let’s get started on that next thing…
