first off lemme come clear and say that everything was about race from the beginning.

Jim Crow laws.

Slavery

Segregation

Black codes

Sundown towns.

The separation between the “Ghetto” or the “Projects” and the fancy neighborhoods.

The less stuff black people get in the “ghetto” much like burned down or demolished buildings and houses.

Check cashing places and NO BANKS in the area of most black people.

Colorism and “Lightskin privilege”

The racism in sports like telling a black girl to straighten and damage their hair just to compete.

The lack of teaching black history in public schools and only teaching kids about the holocaust and ONLY Rosa parks and MLK.

Watermelon, butter pecan, Chicken, and koolaid stereotype.

Asian people owning businesses in black neighborhoods.

Police brutality “I thought he had a gun.” and police riding by in black neighborhoods every single hour.

AAVE discrimination.

White people stealing style from black people and re naming it after a famous WHITE person.

The racism in schools, the “nonchalant dreadhead” stuff, “YN’S”, white friends saying the n word and saying “i have a black friend.”

The n word pass.

Notice the cartoons back then and the way they showed black people as.

Also, white people secretly hide segregation because they knew and know they’ve won because of black men rapping about killing people and having 10 other girlfriends. They also know they’ve won because of the separation and more fights between black people in the “projects.”

This is one of the saddest scenes because it shows they(the twins) would really follow each other to the end of Earth

Smoke has these little moments of vulnerability that slip through his hardened exterior that make him extremely fascinating. That sad look on his face, when he almost walked beyond the threshold, to be with his brother forever, and leave Annie. He had to be pulled back by the rest of the group.
