Why does Ivan find hurting small animals funny? I understand the rest of the blu mercs' reactions, even if I personally am more like Sniper or Solider (I love reptiles and amphibians), but BLU heavy's reaction caught me off guard, especially because he seems chill with his medic's birds. He wouldn't flick a baby bird into the sun, right? Hopefully? 🥺

Ivan is not a good person.

He spent most of his youth on the streets running with some bad people and many years in prison. He has always been bigger and stronger than everyone else so for many years he found joy in dominating others and so has little to no respect for small or weak things.

He is trying to be better, with Fritz’ help, but old habits die hard and he does still find hurting small things funny. Nowadays he tries to keep it contained to maiming RED team tho. He is not one to make friends with scouts.

He would never hurt Fritz’ birds though, but that’s because he respects (and loves) Fritz. He wouldn’t go out of his way to kill small animals but he wouldn’t move out of the way to not step on a snail, you know? He’s also not a fan of children.

The only one who is bigger and stronger than Ivan is Misha and he has mad respect for him. Prison rules.

He’d love a big dog too. Real dog person.

Jesse (Scout): Thinks it's gross. He tries not to drop it but he HURRIES to put it on the ground then goes to wash his hands.

John (Soldier): Looks at it, pets it, takes good care to find somewhere to put it down where it wont be run over.

Pyro: Keeps it for a few days, makes little hats for it out of paper. Tries to keep it longer but is told by everyone to set it free.

Angus (Demo): Licks it to get high. Gets violently sick instead.

Ivan (Heavy): Flicks that little fucker into the sun, then laughs so hard he cant breathe. Sorry, Ivan is mean to small animals, thats just how he is.

Dennis (Engie): Sends a picture of it with a little hat on to his daughter, then asks Raphael how best to prepare it for dinner. Eats it.

Friedrich (Medic): Keeps it to experiment on until something interesting happens or it dies.

Nick (Sniper): Makes a fully furnished terrarium with running water and real plants. He hides it from his teammates in his room with his cat (Dickhead), where he feeds it and loves it until it dies of natual causes. He names it Dipshit.

Raphael (Spy): Takes it to Dennis first thing and start discussing how to make a recipe he remembers from his childhood. Eats it.

You didn’t specify who got the frog so there is a nonzero chance Ivan will launch that thing into the sun for kicks. Luckily for you Nick got the frog so it might be safe.

Okay I've been gathering the courage to ask- or say really-

Ivan and Fritz are very huggable- for sure they'd squish me to death if I'm not careful but I'm prepared- probably...

But I absolutely love reading about em and the rest of the tf2 lads of course- how you write(headcanon?) each class, both tickles my brain and I got invested- I observe them all under a microscope-

Oh I’ve made a few but I’ve never actually played the game😅 I’m more of an observer than a player. I’ve read some of the manuals, pretty familiar with the mechanics of the game and the lore of the world but I don’t own dice or anything.

Well it comes and goes in violently persistent hyperfixations so right now it’s only tf2.

I’m also chest-deep obsessed with heavy metal music right now, heard everything Rammstein has ever made and now I’ve moved on to Russian artists to get myself a bit more familiar with the language. Big fan of Korn, Slipknot, Disturbed and [AMATORY]

Hello, I went looking for the book that you mentioned inspiring your ww2 heavy x medic AU but I can't seem to find it with only the description Would you be able to share the name of the book?

Again, it’s not some enemies to lovers gay romance or anything, the part that inspired me was really just the medics work in the field and his occasional run-in with soviet prisoners

Good day! Your art and work are magnificent, headcanons stricks right into my heart🥰 I am in love with the dynamic between the red and blue characters you portray, especially Medics. Also HeavyMedic interactions are adorable.

I have a question. You said about language difficulties,were there any miscommunication between Heavy and Medic (both RED and BLU) that causes hurt feeling or some drama? How did they make through it? Are they help each other to understand bad English pronouns and luck of vocabulary? (Mostly how BluMedic deal with it).

HeavyMedic headcannons: Communication

RED HeavyMedic - Misha and Herbert

Herbert actually has a pretty strong grasp on the english language when he starts working for MannCo. so there are very few things he doesn't understand. Misha on the other hand finds it very difficult and complicated. He has a PhD in russian litterature and could recite you poems and give long complex lectures in russian but in english he sounds like a bumbeling idiot, which often results in frustration and angry outbursts.

Herbert tries to bare with him but he is not a patient man and soon they are both frustrated and angry.

At some point Misha has had enough and asks Gabriel (Spy) to tutor him and eventually he does get better.

He learns german too, and he gets good enough at it that he can hold a simple conversation with Herbert, who is over the moon that he would go through the trouble.

Mostly Misha likes to listen and obersve, so he asks Herbert to tell him stories in german, which he gladly does.

After a few years there are hardly any liguistic barriers between them.

BLU HeavyMedic - Ivan and Friedrich (Fritz)

Fritz was never taught english in his youth and doesn't really like it as a language, but because of his job at MannCo. He has to suck it up and actually sit down and study. He understands the basics when he is hired, but sayings, slang, jokes and metaphors goes over his head, which makes him seem humorless.

Ivan is a but more familiar with english when he joins the team, having lived in Alaska for a while before going south to work. He still has the thickest accent imaginable. He has spent his time around native speakers and knows mostly street-slang and cusswords, can't read or spell though.

In the beginning they have very basic conversations, trying with broken english and hand gestures to communicate.

It's slow and frustrating, but Ivan was never very talkative anyway and is really good at reading body language from his time in prison. Fritz is not and prefers it when people clearly tell him what they want.

They get into more arguments than Herbert and Misha, mostly due to Ivans lack of clear verbal communication. Fritz wants to understand and gets frustrated when people wave him off and doesn't want to explain what they mean when they say things.

When they get into fights and Fritz gets too worked up he reverts back to german and Ivan returns fire in loud angry ukrainian.

They seperate to cool off and when they eventually meet up to apologize its often done through touch and silent glances. When words hurt silence heals.

They get very good at silent communicatian and can have whole conversations with no words. No one will know whats going on until one of them laughs out loud and it turns out they've been talking shit for hours.

Hi Theamaus! I met you yesterday, and I practically devoured your blog, I LOVED your art, I would like to ask, what are your Headcanons for snapshots/bushpine?

I've made a post before with snapshot headcannons HERE but if you've already gone through all of it i'm guessing youve aldready seen it.

Haven't thought about it much lately (my minds been all blu team) but heres a few more for ya!

More bronisniper/snapshots headcannons:

Out of all Bronislavas family (aside from Heavy and Bronislava herself) Sniper gets along with Yana the best although her mother is a strong second, even if she thinks he's too skinny and could never kill a bear

Suddenly being part of a big family is kind of overwelming for him in the beginning, but it brings him closer with Medic who is also new to the Big Happy Family dynamic

Bronislava has lived alone with her mother and sisters for so many years shes forgotten what it is to live with a man

Sniper has lived alone or with a goup of men for so long he has no idea what its like to live with a woman

It's a learning experience for both

Bronislava cuts Snipers hair when it gets too long. Sniper loves it when she toutches his hair, so he often allows her to braid it

Sniper gradually comes to love russian food and prefers it over anything else. Because of this he begins to gain some much needed weight

They shower together. Bronislava is used to either having to bathe one right after the other or together to save hot water and Sniper likes the closeness

Bronislava has periods with night terrors from her time in the Gulag. She doesn't really remember it, but boy does her subcontious. Sniper doesn't know what to do, but after some advice from Medic (Heavy has them too) they learn how to deal with it together

Headcannons!:

Ivan (blu heavy) is a music enthusiast and collects vinyls. Unlike Misha (red heavy) he doesn’t care about literature in any form

He only listens to metal (death, heavy, industrial - doesn’t matter as long as it’s loud) but he collects rock and punk music too

Pyro loves heavy metal and often hangs out in Ivan’s room just to listen and look at the covers

John (blu soldier) hangs out too, he likes Ivan’s music because it’s played loud enough that his deaf ass can actually hear it. He likes power metal best

Ivan considers Solder and Pyro his best friends
