i shoulda listened to you better 😔😭😭 went unmasked for [1] construction day at work, aaaaand someone coughed directly. into. my. mouth. 3 days later and im 😷🤧 now with covid!!! i got an autoimmune condition too ): passed out at work & got rushed to the ER
im SO upset, i wish i hadnt taken it off for the day 😮‍💨 heat be damned!
also, EVERYONE needs to listen to you. we'd awl be better off...
I'm really sorry to hear that happened! Be sure to up your B12, magnesium, and Vitamin D uptake: There's nothing conclusive yet, but multiple studies have connected the severity of long covid symptoms with Vitamin D levels. B12 and magnesium help your body absorb and use D. And rest, rest, rest. You can't rest enough after covid. I hope you're better soon, and I hope others take this as a lesson.

It's a common idea amongst ALOT of LSN autistic people that HSN autistic people in general don't struggle with mental health, and that people who are HSN autistic are HSN because that's just the areas they ended up needing more support, and that it levels out and that in general LSN autistics struggle most in their mental health and HSN autistics struggle with other things.
It stems from peoples misunderstanding, and not wanting to accept there are people out there who have more support needs in every single area that they do, more severe in every single area.
But I'd argue someone who has such extreme sensory issues being in the presence of another person causes meltdowns that last hours on end, someone that needs to be restrained for hours a day or else will literally die, that's housbound due to extreme sensory issues, wants to die and has extreme sadness every single time there is a small change such as the light going on and off, but also does not have the skills to communicate anything to anyone so can never talk about how they feel and even as simple as if they feel unwell.
Struggles significantly more with their mental health than someone who simply dislikes their life and feels anxious, and those with more severe mental health problems as-well.
Someone with HSN autism and severe mental health problems can co exist, and I think alot of people seem to forget that. Someone can be HSN with all their needs met and still have a terrible quality of life.

entomologists are the most fucking wild people ive ever met
i pointed out a cool wasp to one and she just picked it up with her bare hands and started showing me different features she was using to identify the species
on a walk with another one he just paused, turned, violently shoved his hand into some rotting wood and offered me a tunnel web spider like oh okay i guess-

Now is the Time to Start Masking Again
If you stopped paying attention to COVID with the release of vaccines, you've missed a lot.
COVID is airborne.
Long COVID impacts 10% of people infected by COVID (though this is beginning to look like a low estimate). Risk of Long COVID goes up with each reinfection. Long COVID is worse than initially reported.
Bisexual and trans people are more likely to develop Long COVID.
Black and Hispanic folks are more likely than White folks experience more symptoms and health problems from Long COVID.
***COVID and Long COVID has much more in common with HIV and AIDS than the flu (28:19 - 38:30 of linked video)***
The Basics

"This is great and all but it's overwhelming. TL;DR?"
COVID is airborne. Long COVID is much more common (and serious/debilitating) than previously thought.
Mask with an N95 or better in all indoor spaces and outside when close to others. Improve your indoor air quality by opening windows and using fans/air filters.
Rapid tests are prone to false negatives so make sure to retest in 48 hours after exposure and/or when you develop symptoms. Isolate in the meantime. Consider upgrading to a NAAT (PlusLife, Metrix) or PCR (Lucira) if you have the money.
Things for you to do today:
buy some N95s or request some from a local mask bloc
open a window more often and/or buy an air purifier
buy the best COVID tests you can afford

Note
Masking is top tier because on top of making anybody who wears them hot they help prevent germs from spreading
They also hide facial expressions, so you can stick your tongue out at people you hate and they'll never know: (like your boss or the dickhead who cut in line)

Wastewater samples across several U.S. states have tested "very high" or "high" for levels of SARS-CoV-2—the virus that causes COVID-19.
Between November 3 and November 9, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) detected "very high" levels of COVID-19 in New Mexico, with "high" levels found in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota.
"Moderate" levels were detected across Idaho, Nebraska, Maine, Nevada, Maryland, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri.
"Low" levels were found in 21 states, and "minimal" levels were detected in 14 states and D.C.
(Follow the link for the interative map!)
However, Arizona, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, and South Dakota all have limited coverage, meaning that "data for the most recent week are based on a small part (less than 5 percent) of the population and may not represent viral activity levels for the entire state," the CDC said. Additionally, North Dakota has no data for this period.
Between October 27 and November 2, wastewater sampling from New Mexico also had "very high" levels of the virus, but "high" levels were detected in Oregon, Arkansas, and Maine. The week prior, "very high" levels of viral activity were detected in Montana, with "high" levels in Arkansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
Infected individuals shed the virus in their feces, often before showing symptoms or even if asymptomatic. Therefore, monitoring wastewater virus levels allows authorities to detect the presence of COVID-19 early, even before clinical cases are reported.

"Wastewater (sewage) can be tested to detect traces of infectious diseases circulating in a community, even if people don't have symptoms," the CDC states. "You can use these data as an early warning that levels of infections may be increasing or decreasing in your community."
Wastewater testing provides a snapshot of the overall infection levels in a community, regardless of individual testing rates, and is a way to monitor larger populations without needing to test each person.
However, the CDC notes that "states and territories may have a higher density of sampling sites in certain geographic areas, so the median wastewater viral activity level may not represent the wastewater viral activity level for every community in the state or territory."
CDC data shows that national COVID wastewater levels have dropped massively since the summer months, approaching the low rates seen in April. However, last winter there was a huge spike in wastewater levels, so there could be a similar trend this winter.
Wastewater testing can also help health authorities detect variants of the virus circulating in the population, providing information about the potential emergence of new strains.
As of November 9, the predominant subvariant, KP.3.1.1 made up 39 percent of COVID-19 cases in U.S. wastewater over the previous two weeks, while the new XEC variant accounted for 20 percent, according to the CDC. KP.3 made up 17 percent, JN.1 made up 11 percent, and "other" made up 12 percent.
"There is no evidence, and no particular reason to believe, that XEC causes different symptoms than all the other SARS-CoV-2 currently in circulation," Professor Francois Balloux, a computational systems biologist at University College London in England, previously told Newsweek. "XEC is not expected to cause more (or less) severe symptoms than other lineages currently in circulation."
The CDC lists symptoms of COVID-19 as including:
Fever or chills Cough Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing Sore throat Congestion or runny nose New loss of taste or smell Fatigue Muscle or body aches Headache Nausea or vomiting Diarrhea

I just want to remind people that it’s 2024 and we didn’t “go thru a pandemic” we are “going thru a pandemic” present tense. It is still happening. People are still get sick, still becoming disabled, and still dying. Covid hasn’t gone away and I beg people to not normalize getting sick with it.

Do you just speak your native/first language? Or are you multilingual like Amal @amalashuor?
In early October 2023, Amal was a university student pursuing a degree in French. She and her husband had a comfortable life with their newborn baby girl, Maryam. Their happy life was destroyed when the occupation began carpet-bombing Gaza. They lost their home and were forced to flee south in order to survive.
They stayed with friends for a time, but eventually had to leave due to the stresses of multi-family living in small spaces. They were living in a tent in Rafah for several months, under threat of bombs and IOF ground assault, but have been repeatedly displaced ever since then.
They are collecting aid so they can begin the paperwork to evacuate Gaza through Rafah crossing once it reopens. In the mean time, they continue to need support for food, water, and medicine. All of these items are scarce in Gaza, and the prices are extremely inflated as a result.
Please help this young family survive until they can find safety!
