They liked roaming different places, knowing that many would probably be busy with their own affairs.. or in bed at this hour. It gave them plenty of time for quiet, for thinking, for listening for what sounds did have a way of showing up in their travels.

At the moment, they were taking a moment to rest, enjoying the relative darkness that this location afforded when they heard footsteps getting closer to them.

They squinted their eyes and looked.. looked closer until they recognized the form of Liaxee coming near them.

That was enough to inspire a slight, warm smile from them - they always enjoyed running into him.

Atieno notices the way that she's rubbing her hands together.. and while there's something to be said for enthusiasm, they never no how to respond to this. And so, they make a point to chalk it up to just another form of expression.

"Glad that it suits your.. approval?"

They give small little nods as they listen to her talk about pizza. "Ah, well it's certainly something I find people have to either grow into.. or they just don't care for it at all. Ah. I don't mind the plain crust if it's well made enough. But I do think a crust with some more seasoning on it is preferred. "

"Yes yes, good idea," Doom agrees to the getting of some veggies and Italian sausage on one's pizza while rubbing her hands together, as if she's some sleazy criminal about to break into a bank vault. Except. It's pizza. But to her pizza's better than a bank vault, so really, she's winning out here.

"My mother used to get combo pizzas like that. She liked the mushrooms and everything. I hated that as a kid." She shudders, although she is still smiling and giggling. "But I don't mind it all now. It's the plain crust I don't like. You know what I mean? The plain, chewy crust with no seasoning or flavor or anything on it, and when you don't have anything to dip it in. That's the worst! But as long as you have marinara or something for it, it's okay, ehehehehe."

atieno is writing a few notes. some of them are accompanying gifts that they are planning to give some old friends.

a couple are directed at a very specific individual. but that's something they are glad to keep close to the chest. it's the warmth that comes from thinking about that person.. which can be comforting in the midst of their travels.

it's the little actions that give the entity reasons to attempt reaching out time and time again.

Atieno nods a little bit, they are aware of the streams and how so many are fundamentally a part of it.

"Yeah, I do think people tend to get very fixated on changing the direction.. when that is not necessarily always the most possible. They can shift some things in the immediate, for sure - but at a larger scale, there's some inevitable presences that so many can not avoid or predict really.."

It's interesting to be able to be a bit more open about some of the observations that they have, it's a good.. reminder of the context in which they move in.

"Precisely, because of so many others being directly connected in the process of swimming.. people's actions do matter, it's more .. direct, immediate than anything else that can cause so much change at once. It's very interesting.. it really shows that so much is interrelated and connected to each other despite people .. insisting that's not the case, often to their own detriment."

"Yes. Everybody is a part of the overall Story, traveling along in this sort of stream. To try to swim against it is impossible for nearly everyone in the stream," Thursday says, using her hands to mime the imagery she is trying to portray with her words.

"You do have some control over the way you're going, but not exactly the direction, per se. Say, for instance, there is a huge boulder in the stream up ahead. You can use your arms and legs to guide yourself around it in one way or another, but there is no telling what's on the other side and what other obstacles you might face."

Thursday pauses, looks up from her hands, and smiles, as though this conversation is fun for her. And it is. It isn't often she gets to talk with another cosmic being about these sorts of things.

"But you're right. Who's to say how your very efforts of swimming around that boulder might affect someone else's position in the stream? Could be there is someone either to the left or the right of you. Or just on the other side of that boulder, on either side, and you might collide with them. It's all very interesting, isn't it? Fate, and how one action affects another."

"..Yeah, sure. It must be quite the interesting place if it is your favorite." Atieno finds themself feeling quite curious about what they are going to see.

zinnia : how has the loss of fallen comrades and/or loved ones affected your muse ? has it taught them anything or given them any new perspectives ?

honestly... as for sadness and depression- that's something that atieno has been familiar with, or at least the sensations that come with that.. for a very very long time. they've tried a lot of different methods, they've tried isolation, they've tried putting it all into their work, they've tried fighting about a few times. a lot of these methods.. don't really get at that haunting sense of melancholy that never really goes away for them.

at this point, they seem to get something from just.. letting themself feel the weight of what they are feeling. to honor this feeling.. maybe talking about it sporadically, but just .. allow it to be. because.. even when it subsides it has a way of returning, therefore making it an ongoing struggle.

as one can imagine, atieno has lost a lot.. a lot of people over the years. and it has left them.. stunned, at least at first. of course, now they have a more thorough appreciation for how brief life is for so many people. which is why they can be a little more cautious with those they encounter, they know too many circumstances in which someone is taken out so quickly.

they do want to cherish what connections they do have in the time that they have them.. but it might take some time for them to warm up to individuals as a result of them having lost ridiculous amounts of people over time.

the bravest moment in atieno's life? that's... literally an impossible barometer. and honestly, atieno probably wouldn't describe themself as particularly brave given the nature of how they came to be in the first place. but ... they will admit that what may.. give them a bit of satisfaction is remember them actively combating those who would try to wield their abilities for the sake of control. they weren't really sure if they would be able to fight .. that, especially since this was relatively early in their existence. but the awareness of not only that they were capable of fighting, but able to really.. put an end to those that would try to control them.

if nothing else, it instilled a strong autonomous streak within them that they tend to lean towards even when there are those who would try to use them.

amaryllis :   what is something or someone that your muse takes pride in ?how do they express that pride ?

atieno tends to .. avoid taking too much pride in much, just because there is a lot that .. purposefully pretty understated in the way that they work.

that being said, if they were to demonstrate- how they could work with dense materials and re-shape it into something new before someone's eyes - they would take a little pride in casual demonstrations like that.

they find the more subtle displays of what they could be capable of on a larger scale to be a more.. meaningful action than anything too grand right off the bat.
