Harper Lee
Harper Lee goes up to the counter and orders a grande cappuccino. She thinks it tastes great, and the other people in the shop seem to agree, so she never orders another drink again.

My Car was Molested
To the nefarious sir or madam who ripped off my bumper sticker, I understand that you may not agree with my choice in Presidential Candidate Ben Carson, but that gives you no right to forcibly take off a piece of my property from another piece of my property. And if you ever touch my Buford again, I will personally see to it that you do not procreate. Lots of Republican love, ALK

Another in Cassandra Jean’s virtues and vices series! Julian, representing charity, gives every piece of himself. Emma, representing diligence, works hard to find her parents’ killer and to protect her friends.
Is there ANY way mark and emma will develop any feelings for each other either how couples act or like Bff or something like that I totally ship Emma and Mark — shadow01demigod
Anything’s possible. I think Mark and Emma have an interesting relationship, certainly.
Does Emma play the violin? — fandomingwastedmysociallife
She doesn’t. :)
Super quick but essential question: Is it necessary/beneficial to have read The Shadowhunter Academy stories before reading Lady Midnight!? — kbrady5168
I would say beneficial but absolutely not necessary.
Hello cassie! I thank you soo much for answering this it means a lot to me. I’ve been wondering, sing lady midnight is coming out in 2016 and there’s gonna be 3 books, does that mean that the last hoyrs are gonna come out till 2019? Thank you! I love you! And your characters soo much!! -irela — nephilim-not-a-mundane
Nope - we’re not waiting for Dark Artifices to be done before the Last Hours starts coming out. It won’t be 2019 unless I get run over by a bus or something.
Hi! I love all your books and they have immensely impacted my life, and I truly appreciate the diversity they have. I just finished reading Born to Endless Night( by the way it was so amazing, I can’t even describe how perfect it was)and it mentioned that the Seelie Queen was missing and there are a lot of dark rumors as to what happened to her. I was wondering if this is a clue to what is going to happen in The Dark Artifices. I can’t wait for Lady Midnight!!! — lucieherondalethefirst
Absolutely, clever you! The Dark Artifices are much more about faeries and the world of Faerie than any previous Shadowhunter books, partly because of the connection through Helen and Mark. It’s been an opportunity for me to explore places we’ve never been — the Unseelie Court, the world of Faerie — and play with very old magic and myths _ ley lines, the Wild Hunt, the magic of faerie love and faerie promises.
It’s been fun and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Q&A& a TDA snippet
Do you think Jace and Izzy had a hard time trusting Magnus after the malec breakup? — delicatetriumphkingdom I think Jace and Izzy understood that relationships are complicated things, and that Magnus had his reasons for breaking up with Alec, even though they might not agree with him that the reasons were valid and the breakup a good idea. You can see in CoHF and TBC that Izzy and Jace both speak to Magnus on Alec’s behalf because they think Magnus made the wrong decision. Magnus, in the end, agrees with them. Any initial wariness on Jace and Izzy’s behalf was dwarfed by the intense experience the characters share in the demon realms in CoHF. Magnus offered to sacrifice himself to save the Lightwoods and the people they love. He proved himself to be worthy of trust. Once they got back together, it was obvious that Magnus and Alec’s relationship was healthier and better for the time they spent time apart and the conversation it inspired. I think Izzy and Jace held no hard feelings at that point. Hi Cassie, really love your books and I can barely wait for TDA :) I have a burning question after rereading CoHF a couple of times. In Chapter 14 when all their deepest, darkest desires are shown, how is it that Magnus is able to talk Alec into ‘waking up’? Was Magnus really there? Thank you :) — invisibilitycloakseraphblade
Thank you! The vision of Magnus wasn’t Magnus himself. It was Alec’s rationality and good sense, which take the form of Magnus in his mind.
Hey Cassie, hope you’re doing well. I was wondering if Beatriz and Cristina are related? — dejanamcc They are distantly related! I have a question, too. What are exactly is a curse? Because in CP will believe that a demon cursed him, and in the first mortal instruments, Hodge is cursed by the Clave. Thank you for answering, and I can’t wait for TDA! — persephone-nyx There are many different kinds of curses in the world of TMI. Curses are spells that have lasting negative effects on the subject. They are often used as punishments. Some (but not all) demons are able to curse people. Most warlocks can perform curses. The Clave has its own system of curse magic. Cursing is regulated, and it is serious business. If a warlock or demon is cursing people willy-nilly, the Clave would come after them. Hey Cassie, you are currently THE best author in modern times. I was looking at the family tree and I noticed that Ella Herondale died a year after the Carstairs even though Will arrives to the London Institute first. Is this just a continuity error or? — drakesnut Thank you, drakesnut! High praise indeed. Jem’s parent’s were killed late in the year of 1872, and Jem didn’t go to live at the London Institute until 1873, six months after Will arrived there. The time in between was spent with the Silent Brothers. Jem had to recover from the serious injuries he sustained during his torture. Once Jem was healed, the Silent Brothers attempted to end his dependence on the demon drug yin fen. They were unable to do so. Eventually they gave up, and there was a period of discussion on where he should go next. Jem chose the London Institute, and it took some time for his remaining family to agree and for arrangements to be made. If demons are inherently evil, are angels good? Does Lucifer exist in the Shadowhunters’ world? Is the Clave reevaluating theology after Clary and Simon talked with Raziel, who mentioned a God? — teddycarnivals In short, we don’t know. Demons are devoted to chaos and destruction, and all signs point to them being inherently evil. Angels, on the other hand, are one of the biggest mysteries in the world of the Nephilim. Despite their relationship to angels, the Nephilim know next to nothing about them. We don’t actually know if they are inherently good. Raziel helped out on a couple of occasions, but he’s made it clear he doesn’t want to be bothered again. Ithuriel seemed like a pretty good guy, but he had his own problems. For all we know, there may be other angels who are not very nice at all. There is a fallen angel who is referred to as Lucifer, the morning star. He’s mentioned by Jonathan/Sebastian in CoHF: “Lucifer Morningstar was Heaven’s most beautiful angel. God’s proudest creation. And then came the day when Lucifer refused to bow to mankind. To humans. Because he knew they were lesser. And for that he was cast down into the pit with the angels who had taken his side: Belial, and Azazel, and Asmodeus, and Leviathan. And Lilith. My mother.” Here’s a snippet from TDA about angels and Lucifer: “Let me tell you a truth before you die, Emma,” said the voice. “It is a secret about the Nephilim. They hate love, human love, because they were born of angels. And while God charged his angels to take care of humans, the angels were made first, and they have always hated God’s second creation. That is why Lucifer fell. He was an angel who would not bow to mankind, God’s favored child. Love is the weakness of human beings, and the Angels despise them for it, and the Clave despises it too, and therefore they punish it. Do you know what happens to parabatai who fall in love? Do you know why it’s forbidden?” I haven’t revealed who is narrating here, but these angels don’t sound too benevolent. The Clave is reluctant to re-evaluate anything, including theology, but eventually they’ll probably have to. What form will that reevaluation take? You’ll have to wait and see. ; )

Hey Cassie, I was wondering; Jules obviously has a secret right? So, is this secret something like Will’s curse or something simpler like just a insecurity about himself maybe? I mean, it must be pretty important if he can’t tell it to his parabatai, just like Will couldn’t. Right? I desperately need your answer!! — 1989shadesoffangirling Julian certainly thinks it is very, very important that he keep his secrets, even from Emma. There is no way I can tell you details about this that are not super spoilery, but I will say this much: unlike poor Will, who thought he had a terrible secret, Julian has a secret that’s very real.
