One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:

It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and

Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.

in case you ever feel embarrassed by something you’ve done, just know that it likely cannot be as bad at the time I (a Bug Hunter fan) was at a Bug Hunter concert, and (not recognizing him) asked Mr. Bug Hunter himself, to his face, if he’d ever been to a Bug Hunter concert before. he laughed and said yes btw. and my sister, with me at the time, proceeded to not stop laughing at me for the next week. MORTIFYING.

if you don't have memories of your own childhood, can you still consider yourself human?

if you have forgotten something as important as your country, your childhood, your family, your own name, then are you even a person?

if something is forgotten by everyone, then has that thing ever existed?

sorry odile’s part of the mdp fight has been pinging around in my brain for like. months now. i’ve had the idea for this drawing for a while. this is also partially based on isa’s act 4 friendquest (without doing bad touch) where siffrin mentions that they didn’t really have an identity before they met the party!! i wanted to play around with transparency :3333

‘twist villain’ is always good of course but i’m such a sucker for ‘twist hero’. specifically as in they write a character to be as suspicious and unnerving as possible without really actually doing anything wrong yet but you just KNOW something is wrong but then surprise. they’re fine actually. all the alleged wrongdoings were either lies harmless or taken out of context. it’s even better if the suspicious aspects of their personality don’t go away after the reveal that they’re a good guy. they just act and look and talk like that for fun. they’re just a little silly
